Prologue.

The virus just started spreading around, causing havoc in America first.

The water washed up ashore, making the sand a murky color. There was a vigilant teen that cantered her way across the sandy beach. She kept a glimmering smile on her face, not delaying for her hasting friend. Her golden retriever ran quickly, still making his way beside her. “Vada, get back here!” Her friend bellowed. The teen—Vada—bolted to a stop; her head lashed around as her smile died off. “Why?” She complained, wanting to continue cantering around in the sand with her dog. Today was special, there was a heavy overcast with no rain, though it was scheduled. “I wonder when it will rain.” Vada paused, taking a breath. “It’s very dim today.” Her friend acknowledged it and looked up at the sky, catching a speck of rain in her eye. “Oh, look.” She paused, looking down at the sand between her toes, “it’s raining.”

Blood-curdling screams were heard in the distance along with gunshots. People frantically ran away, finding a place to hide at, although there was no luck. “Ryan!” A male voice shrieked. A hand hastily concealed the young males’ mouth, “shut up!” The adult—Ryan—shout-whispered, “you’ll get us killed!” He finished, removing his hand. The male quickly spun around on his heel, embracing Ryan. Ryan felt uncomfortable as he pushed the male off from him, “we just need a place to hide,” he sighed. He looked around the buildings, looking for an area that wasn’t boarded up. “We need to go through the crowd,” Ryan spoke up, looking over at his friend, Michael. “Are you crazy!” Michael shouted, grabbing the undivided attention of an infected. It screeched and began to race its way towards Ryan and Michael. “Dang it, come on!” Ryan gripped Michaels’ wrist and they rushed, catching more and more eyes. “We’re done for.” Ryan breathed. Michael had noticed a car in the distance, “no it’s not,” Michael hesitated, almost tumbling over himself. Ryan groaned, rushing faster to the car he saw. Ryan threw Michael in the car, climbing inside as he slammed the door shut.

“We should get inside, Rose.” Vada spoke up, grabbing Roses’ attention. “Yes.” Rose responded as Vada took Rose and lead her to the hotel.

“Reports all around the nation have come in, this virus is spreading like the plague.” The TV reporter continued on. A few minutes later the TV was switched off and the screen showed nothing but the colour black.
Chapter one.

Power was forgotten about up in the north, people have to rely on fires and generators now.

The clouds departed, letting sunshine consume Florida again. Though, it wasn't a pretty sight. Cars scattered the abandoned and fractured streets. As of now, there were 200 million people killed in the north, not a surprise to most. In the south, only about 2 million were killed. This was only in a time span of eight months. “This is crazy,” Vada spoke. “I wonder what’s actually going on in the north.” Rose tilted her head up, sticking her hands out a bit to make it to the bed. Vada looked up from her chipped wood chair, “do you need help?” Vada croaked, clearing her throat quickly after. Rose rattled her head no, mounting atop of the bed. “Are we going to be able to survive this?” Rose suddenly announced, catching Vadas attention. “Did you say something?” Vada asked, they stayed quiet for a few minutes before Rose spoke up, “I didn’t say anything.” Vada was skeptical before nodding and going back to reading.

A metal door creaked, alerting ravens that had been situated on the window sill. The noise gathered the attention of a female and a guy. “Clarissa.” The male said looking at her direction. The female, Clarissa, understood and snatched the pyrometer off the metal table and pointing it at the person who entered; she then turned it on. “Normal.” She called out, turning the pyrometer off and setting it down. “Ryan.” The male in the entrance said, “I lost Michael.” That alerted both Clarissa and Ryan, “wait, what do you mean Quinn?” Ryan shouted, “how did-” Clarissa cut Ryan off, “the best we can do is wait for him to come here, if he knows the way here,” she continued.”Or, one of us can go out and search for him.” Ryan signed, “the quickest option we have is to search for him. Though, if one of us aren’t quick, he could possibly get infected.” They went through an awkward silence before hearing frantic banging on the door. Clarissa was quick to pull her pistol out and point it at the door. Ryan slowly approached the door, looking through the small bars. “It’s a woman,” Ryan whispered, “she looks around 18. She has purple hair, and fake wolf ears?” Clarissa cocked her gun, then Ryan opened the door. “Get on the ground, hands in the air.” Clarissa went on, her tone demanding but quiet. “If you fail to do so, I will shoot you.” Ryan grabbed the pyrometer on the table and checked the temperature of her skin. “Normal.” Ryan sighed, “Quinn, go get some water.” Quinn nodded and paced himself towards a pack of water bottles. Quinn looked over at Ryan and Clarissa, then he sighed.

“It’s dark out,” Michael said to himself, “and lonely.” He took the gun from its holster and took the magazine out. There were only two more bullets. Michael threw the gun on the ground and screamed out of frustration. “I don’t care! I don’t care! I don-” He stopped to hear the sound of footsteps. “Quinn?” Michael bit his lip. “C-can you help me?” A female voice called out. Michael was hesitant, “with what?” The female collapsed to the ground, violently throwing up puddles of blood everywhere. Michael stood there, backing up a bit. The woman stood up, scratching at her stomach violently. Michael threw up a bit in his mouth. She kept scratching at her stomach, her nails bending as she was reveiling inside her stomach. Michael turned around to run away, but tripped on himself. The woman ran towards Michael, violently biting his left arm. Michael quickly grabbed his gun from the floor and tried to shoot her, but the magazine was out. He kicked the woman off of him. He rushed away, going into an abandoned gas station. After sitting down, he took his belt off and put it around his left arm as tight as he could. He sobbed a bit before looking around and spotting a machete. He grabbed it and put it to his arm, “I just want to live, so, God help me.” He said before slicing his left arm off.

Loving it so far! <3

Just noticed that the sign-ups for this were back in January, wow

It’s amazing so far!! Excited for more :)

I looked back at my character sign-up and noticed how different Michael was back in January. I've changed their character a lot since then. Still love his portrayal though.
