The Necromancer Temple wasn’t in such a good shape after the whole Death Bringer fiasco a year ago. Now, only a few of the Necromancers actually believed in the whole religion side, but most were only there, in the old, dusty temple, to learn their powers. Kane unlocked the door, the chain splitting apart with a flick of his wrist, the shadows cutting it straight across the middle. He wrenched the door open and sauntered inside. Two people stood there. One had straight purple hair, and a body shape not too slim, but not too fat. She was currently wearing a grey shirt, black combat trousers and red boots. Her rolled-up sleeves revealed a snake on her left, but her right hand was clearly not flesh, but bionic. The other’s hair was short and brown, with an undercut, right above their eyes, an evergreen shade. They had smooth, pale skin on their lanky figure, with a pointed and straight jaw. A steel khopesh sat on their belt, a crossbow slung over their shoulders.
‘What do you two want?’ Kane questioned, folding his arms. The girl with the purple hair, Shaylen Necrolith, spoke up.
‘To speak to you.’
‘Regarding?’ snapped Kane quickly.
‘Resources,’ stated the guy with the brown hair, Hunter ‘Triple A’.
‘Why would I ever give you two that? I’m not insane,’ Kane growled.
‘We haven’t committed any crimes, our bosses did,’ Shaylen told him, very calm.
‘Just because you were ordered to blow up a skyscraper doesn’t make it any less of a crime on your part,’ Kane explained.
‘Well, we have intel, and I doubt, and neither does Shaylen, that you would like it to be released.’
‘And what would that be?’
Hunter pulled out a tablet, swiping it on and pressing a few things. He turned it and showed the crimes Kane committed as a teenager: breaking into a store, running from the police, buying a fake ID, leaving the country....
Kane froze.
‘So, do you accept our deal now?’ Shaylen asked as Hunter put the table in the black bag next to him.
‘I’ll think about it.’

Fennu Jukyeong was cold. It was freezing in the room. The metal handcuffs around her wrists were very icy. They opened the window just to make her shiver. This was the Himalayas, after all. The base was just outside the enormous mountain of K2, on the border of China and Pakistan, and was possibly the most secure facility on the planet. Obviosuly it wasn’t, but it almost was. A man came in, with two bodyguards on either side, and two guards by the door, guns set to tranquilizer.
‘So. You’re Japanese, aren’t you? Our enemies,’ the man said. He wore a blue suit, had black, combed hair and a scar diagonally across his face.
Fennu smirked. ‘It would be weird if I wasn’t Japanese.’
‘Well, you’re going to tell us everything about the Japanese plans and defences.’
‘I don’t have that intel.’
‘You will when we send you in to get it, then pull you back out, get the information, then send you back home and announce you’re a traitor and be killed. Good?’
Guns clattered to the floor, and the man and his bodyguards turned. It was the guards.
‘Idiots. Pick those up.’ They didn’t pick them up, so the man walked up to the one on the left.
‘PICK THEM UP NOW!’ The one on the left hit him in the face, before throwing a knee into his ribs and throwing him to the floor. One bodyguard clicked and summoned a ball of flame, but the other guard came up, raising their hand, and a section of the floor came up and blocked the flame as it was thrown. The barricade grew cylinders, which smashed forward and threw the bodyguard back. The other bodyguard came up to them, but the guard who knocked out the man conjured a glowing orange sphere, tentacles writhing around it and it lashed out at the bodyguard, dropping them. The man in charge got up, but Fennu used her legs to push against the chair and come up, her heels hitting the man’s head, and she kicked him with her all her might, knocking him out. The guards took off their helmets. One was female, not fat but not skinny, with blue eyes and a star birthmark around her right eye. Her long brown hair stretched down to her waist. The other had messy black hair, green eyes, a slightly oval face, with a scar from his forehead to his chin. He had earrings on both ears. He looked quite muscular.
‘Who are you?’ asked Fennu as the male came up to her and broke apart the handcuffs with an energy tentacle.
‘I’m Carrati Sane, and this is PJ Stargaze. We’re here to get you out,’ said the male.
‘Are you Irish?’ Fennu asked.
‘Yup,’ said PJ, looking out of the door.
‘Wait… are you Sanctuary agents?’ questioned Fennu as she got up. ‘Because I don’t deal with the Sanctuaries.’
‘No. I’m doing a favour, and I recruited her. Three Cleavers, straight ahead,’ Carrati replied, gesturing to PJ. He wrenched the door open and conjured another tentacled sphere. Fennu stretched her palms out and the air rippled towards the Cleavers. Their grey suits and masks were magic-proof, however, and they walked through it.
‘Damn,’ Fennu said.

Charlie wasn’t entirely sure why he was shackled to a table in a black room. He pondered to himself, and looked at the mirror in front of him, built into the wall. It was very clearly one-way glass. He wondered who was behind it. Behind the glass, there was a conversation.
‘Wait, why is he here again?’ Valkyrie Cain asked, looking up at Skulduggery Pleasant.
‘Why are we even here?’ Minsor Peculiar asked gesturing to him, Donegan and Gracious. Minsor’s eyes practically glowed green in the lighting.
‘Because Valkyrie asked you to come, fools…’ said Alex Silverfeather, grinning, and peering back down at their tablet.
‘To America?’ asked Gracious.
Skulduggery ignored that, and turned to Alex. ‘So, who are they?’
Alex looked down at their tablet again. ‘Charlie Karmen, 25, Russian. Not a Sanctuary Agent, powers unknown.’
Skulduggery turned to Valkyrie, Gracious, Donegan and Minsor. ‘He’s here because we need all the force we can get. Also, he might have information.’
‘Why do we need force?’ Donegan questioned.
‘There’s been multiple Sanctuary attacks in the last month,’ Alex explained. ‘England, Poland, Czech Republic, New Zealand, Canada, Brazil.’
‘We need information to do with the Russian sanctuary. More specifically, on the Russian Mafia,’ Skulduggery said, ‘because we think these attacks were carried out by one Saiest.’
‘Why would we need info on the Russian Mafia to find Saiest?’ Valkyrie asked.
Skulduggery went into the room with Charlie. ‘Tell you later.’ Alex followed Skulduggery.
Valkyrie, Gracious, Donegan and Minsor watched from outside.
‘Minsor…’ Valkyrie said.
‘Yup?’
Valkyrie turned. ‘I’m going out with some friends tonight, including these guys.’ She gestured to Donegan and Gracious. ‘Wanna come?’
‘Sure,’ he replied, and they looked back at Skulduggery, Alex and Charlie.
‘What do you know about the Russian Sanct-’ Skulduggery said.
‘I don’t deal with the Sanctuary, thanks. Now, can I please go?’ interrupted Charlie.
‘We need help. Ever heard of a man called Saiest?’ Alex asked.
Charlie froze. ‘Saiest is not a man. It is a thing. And… I’ll help you.’
Skulduggery tilted his head. ‘Why so suddenly?’
‘First off, please stop tilting your head like that, cause you’re a skeleton, and it is super creepy,’ Charlie replied. ‘Second off… Saiest swore vengeance on lots of people before it died, all who disrupted his plans. I was one of them.’
Charlie lowered their head. ‘If I help you, will I get protection from him?’
‘Of course.’

The plane soared high above Lyubertsy, Moscow. Three people stood in the cargo plane, not including the pilot. One had brown and purple hair, storm grey and ocean blue eyes and a 6 ft tall body. One had messy ginger hair, green eyes and a muscular body. The other had hazel hair, turquoise eyes and a slender body. Alex checked their parachute, looking over to Kane and Minsor. The plane slowly opened up at the back, and the three stepped out.
‘3…’ said Alex, their mouth twisting to a grin.
‘2…’ said Minsor, shaking at the cold air.
‘1…’ said Kane, jumping up and down.
In unison, they all spoke up. ‘Go!’
All three leapt, spreading their hands and legs out. Alex was grinning wildly, clearly enjoying the experience. Minsor was cold, but he still enjoyed it. Kane’s face was blank. They had a drop site: the roof of a skyscraper, near the centre of the city. One by one, they all pulled their parachute, Alex pulling his last. They landed easily taking off their parachute packs and running to the door. The Irish had a friend here. They got to the 13th floor, and walked through the door. A miniscule cardboard box was on the table with a note on it.
Sorry guys, had to go shopping last minute, sphere is inside!
Alex went forward and opened the box, taking out the brown wooden ball, a cloaking sphere. Suddenly, a blast of energy hit Alex in the shoulder, burning their shirt and throwing them into a picture on the wall, glass smashing. Kane sent a wave of shadows into the attacker, who wore a one-piece navy combat suit with armour plating and an iron mask. A second came forward, splaying their hand. The air rippled, and Kane flew back, using the shadows to break his fall. Minsor pulled out his pistols and fired three shots, the bullets making holes in the plating because of the material, but doing no physical damage to the attacker. The carpet split into 4 tentacles, wrapping around their wrists and ankles, throwing them forward into the door. Alex withdrew their hand, and took an unfortunate energy blast from the first guy, straight in the same shoulder as before. Alex screamed in pain, flesh burning, and a table leg broke from the table and slithered over like a snake, wrapping around them and tightening around the Energy Thrower. A third soldier leaped, tackling Minsor, but a lasso of light blue energy wrapped around them and slammed them into a table, and the energy split apart and formed a hammer which didn’t hesitate to fly forward into their nose, cracking it. Then, the door exploded into tiny splinters. Saiest walked in.

The Irish Sanctuary was quite a large building, situated in a sorcerer’s town called Roarhaven. It didn’t take long for Shaylen and Hunter to get past the defences of Roarhaven, since they were quite weak. It was about noon, and the two necromancers crept through the streets silently. They saw it, the Sanctuary, up ahead. The Cleavers at the door stood silently, unaware of the shadow tentacles now wrapping around their necks. They grey-armoured warriors struggled, before falling silently. Sorcerers and cleavers dropped like flies, and soon they made their way to the room they were looking for. To the normal eye, it was just a corridor with a dead end. Shaylen waved their left hand, and a small wave of shadows pressed against an area on the wall, a rumbling sound echoing through the walls. A rectangular section of the wall shifted, and was pulled backwards, then split into two parts and rolled to different sides. Shaylen and Hunter strolled in. There was one sorcerer there. They stretched out their hand, and a stream of purple energy rocketed towards them. Hunter and Shaylen both stretched their hands out, and streams of shadows leaked out, throwing them backwards. They used the shadows to break their fall, and Shaylen was thrown into the hard stone, the impact area searing. Hunter threw a wave of shadows into them, and they spiralled around and hit the wall. Child’s play. A noise flooded Hunter’s ears. He swivelled, and saw nothing in the corridor. He looked up, and saw Charlie jumping off the ceiling. He swung a fist into their face, and Hunter’s hand went for their khopesh. They unsheathed it and slashed, catching Charlie in the stomach, not too deep. Blood trickled down, and he cursed under his breath, kicking Hunter in the face and rolling, throwing Hunter into the corridor. They pulled out their pistol and was about to squeeze the trigger, when a fist hit them in the side of the face, enhanced by shadows. Shaylen then grabbed his collar and twisted, slamming his face into the wall. The room was covered with shelves, bookcases, filled with chests and items like jewels and necklaces. A bottle filled with turquoise liquid toppled to the ground and shattered, green and blue smoke billowing out. It stung against Charlie’s skin and eyes, and he swung his elbow into Shaylen, warm blood flooding out. A shadowy tentacle wrapped around Charlie’s neck, and Hunter flicked his hand, sending Charlie onto the floor. Stars exploded behind his eyes and he went out cold. Shaylen and Hunter caught their breath.
Somebody behind them clapped slowly. ‘Well done, well done.’ They both turned, and saw a man standing there. Black hair, fuzzy beard, green eyes and wearing a red and white robe.
‘Who are you?’ Hunter asked, sheathing his khopesh.
‘I am Casillo Witcher,’ the man said, smiling. I assume you were looking for this?’ He took a grey stone with small holes in it, glowing with aqua light.
‘The Surge Stone, yes,’ Shaylen replied.
‘Give it here!’ Hunter screamed, taking out his crossbow and aiming.
‘Never gonna happen.’ Bright, aqua energy flooded from his eyes and mouth, and the energy flooded out, a writhing mass in the air. The Surge Stone floated inside of it.
‘Ciao!’ Casillo disappeared in a white flash.

The Cleavers stormed into the room, and Carrati raised his hands. Orange light materialized in the breeze, and tentacles lashed out at the grey soldiers. One got a lucky shot, a lengthy spine on the tip of the tentacle slashing across the Cleaver’s face, killing it instantly. Two to go. A Cleaver swung their scythe at Fennu, but she swiftly ducked and pused at the air, the scythe swinging upwards. She used the air to slide herself across the floor and then got up, but a Cleaver’s fist swung into her nose, a drop of blood sliding down her face. She leaped, twisting around the Cleaver and getting it into a sleeper hold, dropping it. She pulled out a baseball bat and whacked it many times. It didn’t get up. A section of the wall pushed forward, slamming into a Cleaver’s head. PJ got a lucky hit with her kitchen knife, a short jab into the stomach. The Cleaver swung its scythe in a blur, drawing blood across PJ’s cheek, and it kicked her down. She got out her wand, and used it to send an electric beam into it, making it writhe and twitch. She got up, swung a chair into its face. Two more Cleavers entered the room. The chair broke apart and she dodged a punch, before picking up a handgun and firing. Two misses. One hit. The Cleaver fell down, and it wouldn’t be getting up for any time soon. Carrati raised his hand, but the end of the Cleaver’s scythe hit him in the nose, throwing him down. It raised the scythe. It was all over. Suddenly, a ghostly figure hit the Cleaver in the torso, then slashed with its deadly claws and ripped it to shreds. Fennu’s Gist. The Gist spun around and twirled around the other Cleaver, then dug its claws into their neck. It fell. It didn’t rise. Fennu drew her Gist into her chest and got up. The three of them panted. Suddenly, a man walked into the room. He was clad in blue armour, his face covered by a black mask. Snarling Senad. Carrati leapt at them, but suddenly he was drenched in a green glow. Snarling’s hands were up, and he moved them away from each other. Carrati was torn in half. PJ grabbed Fennu and they both disappeared. They awoke in a bleak place, a witch-like cabin above a stagnant lake.
‘Where are we?’ asked Fennu.
PJ sighed, and walked forward. ‘Another dimension.’
