Murder New Murder Karma System!

    So I bet we've all had it when we're playing a nice game of murder and enjoying ourselves. Suddenly out of nowhere someone shoots you! All of your hard work for nothing, the player resumes picking up their gun and going trigger happy. So my point here is that it's very annoying when someone shoots you, or when you shoot someone else by accident or you have mistaken for a killer.

    What if there was a new system for karma? My idea being if you shoot two people you die, like on other Murder games, but you still lose karma (You shot someone after all). This will prevent players from going trigger happy all the time, and think about their actions. Instead of not getting emeralds, or less of a chance of being the murderer or detective you lose more karma than it is now so you need more karma for aesthetics. So then It makes experienced players try and be a bit more smarter, and new players learn that they can't go being a second murderer.

    This isn't fully necessary, but it'd be nice to not keep dying all the time to a careless player. Thank you for taking the time to read my suggestion on karma!

    So, as suggested, I also think it'd be better to die and lose karma once you've shot two players instead of one. (You could lose karma with any innocent shot or with every two I guess)

    (Just for all the staff members reading this, remember players don't really like the idea of shooting a staff member for no reason).

    Sometimes people (including me) Shoot people by accident, when we're trying to shoot the murderer but happen to aim wrong.

  4. In my opinion it is a part of the game experience, so there's no need to implement it.
    Yes, I agree, it's annoying when someone shoots you but that mostly happens with new people that learn quickly to not kill random people.

    This is another reason

    Moving to the trolls and the randomers: It may be excessive, but I would implement a votekick (everyone in the lobby has the possibility to vote for the kick of a player - every abuse would obviously punished). I'm not opening a discussion about that because I think nobody would agree with me, so meh

    People can in fact be banned for Shooting 3 or more people in one round of Muder... Don't really see why this would be needed. Because the 1st 2 times might be accidents. But 3 people in ONE round... No you don't care about Karma

    I don't think this needs to be implemented
    I often mistake multiple people for the murderer (especially if they have guns in their hand) and I feel that even though it may get rid of some bad people, it gets rid of a lot of people like me who do it by mistake, and then are out the entire round

    Honestly not a bad idea, with a few tweaks:

    Time based penalties would be great- as opposed to game based penalties. Here is what I mean.
    If a player wants, they can just shoot a player a game with only a karma penalty, but if you really want results, make it like, four innocents an hour for a massive karma penalty, and or automated punishment. This leaves room for anyone who is:
    • Generally having a bad day, and are having a hard time telling who the murderer is
    • Victims of karma baiting
    • People deceived by the murderer
    While also punishing people who are just randomly shooting people for no reason. The recommended punishment's I would say would be no more than day bans, no less than hour bans from the network (even just murder if possible.) Maybe increasing penalties for repeat offenders? The point of this is to reveal to staff when users may just be mass rdming, and also to offer more swift and automated punishments for those who do so.

    And maybe instead of cleaning the slate every hour, it could just remove a recent inno kill from the counter, so if I shot three innos and the hour ticks, I would only be marked as shooting two innos, while my ingame stats still reflect the true counter.

    With a system like this implemented however (Assuming it doesn't just get shot down entirely) a lot of testing should be done to ensure it works properly, removing kills over time. But that's what the QA team is for, right?

    For me is a no because how @Fox already said they can get a ban, and another reason is that those person that are trigger happy would not get punished like that (example that they can get punish is if someone see that they are keeping shooting in each game in every round and call a mod/helper or record it and make an appeal it would not be a considerate proof..) so I don't think it would be a good idea.. ( sorry for my English and if I didn't make my words clear :p)
    -Ps next time use another type of color light color is hard to read :p

    It is frusterating to get shot 5 games in a row lol. Also it simply isn't just randoming anymore. I was attacked and shot personally 3 games in a row and once died I was t-bagged. I knew it was personal because a this guy would seem the type and b I was shot 3 times in the row by the same person who t-bagged me and then didn't shoot anyone else.

    Anothing thing... The current system isn't going anywhere nor could it ever. I get randomed quite often and it counts against me so who is really getting punished the guy who can random me if they find a gun on the floor or me by lossing a game I couldn't even play. I shouldn't have to hide from bystanders... I should hide from the murderer.

    What is really the better move here? punishing the player doing the shooting or punishing the player for getting shot?

    The player with a gun would be less likely to shoot a person if they think they are murderer. This could even improve their aim because they at some point they will know " look into the person before shooting them".Might not make sense yet let me put it this way... If you could randomly shoot a guy anytime you wanted you mostly would feel ok with it... yet if you couldn't you most likely will try your best you actually hit the intended target instead of that one guy waiting to be shot.

    I like the idea of where you die if you shoot more than one innocent... and can you all stop blaming the "they might shoot on accident" or "they think it was the killer"... well, most of the time that I've seen people get shot, some people were being douchebags and shooting people just for the sake of it. I think that they deserve to be taught a lesson.

    Actually I changed my opinion on this
    I just don't think it's necessary. Staff can already punish a player for mass rdming, so this wouldn't be much of an addition.
    Still keeping it as -1 though

    As stated above, players are punished for this sort of behaviour. The current system at play works well. I have over 400 innocents shot (bad eyesight) and I never meant to shoot an innocent. The karma system works well because it makes you have less of an ability to spawn off as a murderer or detective, and it’s harder to get a gun as a bystander. There is also a time window for about 5 seconds where the player who shot their gun drops it, giving enough time for a player to walk buy and collect their weapon. I will be saying no, and putting my vote as a -1 because we already have a karma system in place that does it’s job well.

    EDIT: If you do vote “I disagree,” please try and argue why you did and try and influence me to change my vote.

    Hmm... Not sure if I fully agree on this. Perhaps factor in their karma, if they already have low karma, then they should die on their second innocent shot, maybe?
