Implemented /marry command

As someone who has been on PZ for god knows how long... and Roleplays a lot, I think this would be a very good idea! I’m all for it!

The majority of things added to PartyZone aren’t a must add for everyone, it’s understandable that players will also oppose to some ideas. Most players will enjoy this command because it’s something that’s fun and enjoyable for them- I understand that some players do take marriage seriously or don’t like the idea of it but this can be toggled so if a player does not want to be involved with the marriage command then they could do that. Furthermore, there will be a lot of add ons if the command were to be implemented but most of them haven’t been confirmed, they would just add more things so players could enjoy it more. Of course it will cause arguments and spam but if there were to be a cool down on it then I don’t see much of a problem and staff members won’t have to deal with more issues. In all honestly, this could work or not but in my opinion there should at least be some sort of beta version for users to test it out and see if they like it. If not and it doesn’t work out, the whole “/marry” idea can be removed.

+1 but I also have another idea! Why not instead of just /marry we also have a gf/bf command. So basically it starts with /relationship (or something, not exactly sure on command name) and then if they want to do /marry . (Obviously having a cool down effect before you can)!

I personally agree with Glowy, it's pretty pointless but it sounds very fun and could be helpfully used in various roleplays. As for spam stated above a toggle command could be created and also stated above I think other relationship commands could be created instead of just "married" I also think it could be fun to adopt people lmao but overall this is a fun idea

To be honest, I don't really have a yes/no opinion on this. I can see how people might think this could be fun and great for roleplays, but in the long run, it can be kinda' considered pointless. My reasons:

  • This can be used to spark arguments if one player "divorces" another and like stated byt others, some might take it personally. I realize that what I'm stating most likely won't be a problem given the fact that most will realize it doesn't mean much, but there will always be the few who don't realize it.

  • I can see how this can be fun in a roleplay, but is it really necessary to have this? Think about it. I'm not trying to be a downer or whatever, but it would most likely be a waste of time. I'm not even sure most players would use it for anything besides roleplays. If it was used outside of these circumstances, it most likely would just cause drama.

  • In my opinion, roleplays wouldn't even need this. If I did roleplays and ended up married to someone, I wouldn't spend the time to use a command. I could simply just change my nickname to something like, "Mrs. *Fake surname*". Even if people wanted to be more specific on their actual names and don't include a surname, I still think it would be pretty obvious to a roleplay chat that so and so was married. What roleplays would you really need to create a marriage in beside a family one? In my opinion, those aren't that popular as it is.

  • I feel as if defaults wouldn't pay too much attention to this. To me, the ranked members would find this more entertaining. The ranked members do tend to stay around for longer periods of time than defaults, and I don't think a default would want to bother with this if they were just stopping in on the server.

  • There is also the opinion factor. There are some people who think same-sex marriage is wrong, and I think that some LGBTQ+ members on the server won't be happy if the /marry command is limited to being husband and wife. I have seen people get into arguments about this issue in creative chat before with people just being LGBTQ+ in general, and if there is no one moderating (which I know is uncommon), the arguments can become pretty heated. I just think this could cause controversy. I know some religions abide by that and that there may not be much we can do at the moment to change that, but if people kept their opinions/religious values to themselves, then I think maybe this might have more of a shot at being implemented.

  • Say there was a real-life couple who were frequent players on this server. They might find it adorable if they were "married" or "in a relationship" (according to another version consisting of a command that makes you boyfriend and girlfriend, boyfriend and boyfriend, or girlfriend and girlfriend, but take a look at the reason above this).

I'm not trying to diss this suggestion. If I'm being honest, many of my friends would love this and think it adorable. I'm completely neutral on this suggestion. I have no doubt people would enjoy this, but how long will it last before the idea grows unpopular and brings hate on some? The suggestion can definitely be improved to where it could work better. This is just my opinion. If it really is as popular as it seems and continues to grow in favor, I think I should be implemented. A lot of my points have been stated before, but I'm just summing up what I think is wrong with the idea. <3

In regards to the arguments -- arguments like that happen anyways; us adding a marriage command that just prints some text saying people are married on the server won't really add to that. If I'm mistaken and it does cause a lot of problems, we'll see how we can prevent them from happening (or scrap the command as a whole), but I don't see why it would become a problem

When I mentioned roleplays I didn't mean that /marry would necessarily be used in roleplays specifically (though they most certainly can be), I moreso meant that since the players are mostly about roleplaying on Creative, having a /marry command sort of fits that player base if that makes sense.

As far as the whole gender thing -- it won't have a gender definition, literally just two players being married. It seems pointless/problematic to add gender tags to it

This would be so much fun! It could also improve the community and add in some cool little jokes here and there. I love it! c:

YE That May Be Good

I can see how this can be fun in a roleplay, but is it really necessary to have this?
This is a lot like saying "is it really necessary to have the clubs/ guilds system?" The answer to that is no. Not every command on this network has to be something that's necessary. We are allowed to have fun, after all isn't that what PartyZone is about? If this will provide more fun within creative (eg. roleplays) then why shouldn't we implement this? Yes, you've stated that this could cause possible arguments due to the divorce feature and that is a fair point however this could happen with almost any of the commands (eg. /plot deny, getting kicked from a club, etc..). If every single command on PZ had to be necessary, I'm pretty sure it wouldn't be fun.

Well Some People May Like That :p

I really think this command is great, not just because I will do /Marry @LeilaAndStitch but I think that people on creative would like it, it might even bring more people into partyzone and creative. Partyzone is getting bigger thanks to all the staff members and the insight members. It might be nice to expand and use more commands to see and test what everyone thinks of it. If people don't like it then admins can clearly get rid of it but we should at least give it a chance. You never know what will happen it's like the exciting part of being on this server. Some people were probably not okay with the update on 1.12 on creative but admins have fixed that problem. It's good for us to have some expansion and some diversity into what we're doing with creative. =)

wouldn't this just create drama tho

a lot of the playerbase are young and more easily offended imo, no offense some of y'all are doing great
but things like unfriending someone or "divorcing" someone in a minecraft server is a big ol impact and has caused fights on other servers.
could be fun but the possible negatives don't make it worth it imo

Yay someone who knows what's up

I'd say this feature would only be useful, if we had a business based game (like prison).

Other wise, it's really just a waste of time. But if the admins want a small & quick project, go for it x3.
