Hello to everyone reading this thread, and I really hope you enjoy it. <3

So, I'd like to suggest a new gamemode to be added called "Mafia". Some of you may recognize this game, so you may have a bit of an idea of what I'm trying to hint at here. Mafia is be a game that has some similarities to the popular game "Town of Salem". Here's how it works!

The game itself is best played when 10-12 players are in it and has 4 roles:

Mafia (3 Members) - The members of the mafia may agree on one player to eliminate during the night time. (This would be done thru a voting system, the player being eliminated has to be chosen by 2 or more mafia members, or if all mafia members choose a different target, one is chosen at random out of those 3. If none of the mafia members choose a target, a random target is chosen for them.)

Investigator (1 Member) - The investigator may choose one player during the night to investigate, with that finding out their exact role. After getting the member's role, it would be stored inside of their personal log, stating all the people they've investigated.

Doctor (1 Member) - The doctor may choose one player during the night to heal, and potentially save from the mafia's dirty hands! The doctor may also choose to heal themselves. (If you happen to choose to heal the same target that the mafia has chosen to kill, their action will be negated.)

Civilians (Rest of the people) - The civilians are mostly at work in the daytime. They, along with the non-civilians, may discuss who they think is the mafia, who deserves to be lynched etc. They do not have any special abilities during the night.

Upon game start, everyone is teleported to a map with (however many players there are) houses, paths and a podium for the person who would later be lynched, and is assigned a role, and told what the perks of their role are, and then the night starts... First, the mafia will be awakened and be allowed to do their actions, after them the cop, and then the doctor. Once everyone has finished doing their night's work, the entire town awakens, and the system announces if anyone's been killed during the night, and then the town may start to discuss for 1 minute, after which they are greeted with a GUI where they may anonymously vote on who they'd like to lynch. The person who has the most votes is eliminated from the game, and is no longer allowed to speak.

How to win:
Mafia wins by eliminating every single town member, Town wins by eliminating every single mafia member. (In the result that the game comes down to ANY number of mafia members, one town member and the DOCTOR, the mafia automatically wins, as well as if the game comes down to one town member and any number of mafia members. The town may only win if all mafia members are dead.)

I really hope you guys enjoy my suggestion, and I'd like to say I am open to suggestions or criticism. Thank you for reading! <3

I love this idea!!! It would be a lot of fun to play and I for one would play it a lot! One question though? How would it work would there be a map? Different coloured rooms? Other than that! +1

Thanks for reminding me! I forgot to add that information. Added now though! <3

Sincerely,
-Nick.

Where would this go under?

Where would this go under?

What do you mean?

If you're asking weather this would be a standalone gamemode or an arcade game, I'd personally suggest it be an arcade game as it isn't that heavily detailed to be a new gamemode.

My opinion but I don't like it and don't think many will play it because mcpz adding new games never had been a success and I don't see this being played either -1.

Maybe it should be that everyone is in a different colored house where you can't see through anything, and have only one mafia. The mafia has 20-30 seconds to go to another house (they'll be really close to each other) and kill the person in it, and get back to their house. Idk I just thought this would be interesting

For me, this just sounds like murder turned into a role play, I know it’s based off something else and it isn’t a copy, but it just gives me that vibe. Personally, I don’t like that.
It’s already a small game in creative, and I don’t really see a need.
Especially after Survival games. That went down fast.

I’m just going to stay neutral, seen as I’m being slightly biased.

It isn’t constructive to say “I don’t like it” without giving adequate reasoning for feeling that way. The success of our games is not determined by how many we add— it’s how the playerbase responds to them.

That being said, I think the playerbase would respond well to a “Town of Salem-esque” type of game— as many people enjoy playing it and as aforementioned, people play it in Creative as is. This would give the people who play Mafia in Creative a place to do so.

Despite my relatively positive notion about this suggestion, I feel as though a Town of Salem in Minecraft would be more appropriate than Mafia— as it has a wide variety of things to do and won’t get boring after a few games. However, I do think some of the opinions on this suggestion are unjustified, as you can’t really judge how a game is going to be responded to before it’s implemented.

I can see some pros and cons to this, but I definitely do think this is possible. Like Sam, I also think Town of Salem would appease more players than the classic Mafia would.

A few pros:

- It's not a crazy, complex game-- in that, it's just like Murder. Like Murder, it requires some sort of strategy.
- Town of Salem and Mafia are both awfully popular and really fun if played in the right way.
- There are a lot of cool things Mafia/Town of Salem can offer that can be made into perks for our donor ranks, as I've heard from multiple people that the ranks are under-perked. These could include things like cosmetics and the like.
- There are tons of people who play Mafia in Creative who might find it easier to hop on over to this game.
- With Summer coming up, there is a chance our player count will grow. More players to do stuff like this.

Couple of cons:

- New games do tend to fall flat after a short while. I saw SG mentioned above. However, it is true we really can't judge the wants of our player base until the game is actually implemented.
- I feel as if it is commonly thought that Mafia is more of a roleplay thing, which is why people say it should stay in Creative. If it was morphed into TOS, it would be a lot more complicated to work out. This isn't too much of a problem, though.
- It was listed that this game could use 10-12 players. I'm not saying there is anything wrong with that- it's just that Downgrade barely made it to 12 when it was even considered somewhat "popular". I'm also not saying there is the same group of people playing DG and Mafia, either. There is a perfectly good chance this could work out just fine. DG might have had problems due to it was a PVP game, while on the other hand, Creative is the most played thing on our server at the moment. Basically, our community is pretty much full of Roleplayers and people who spend a lot of time doing this stuff.

Suggestions: Already said this, but TOS sounds way more interesting than Mafia (to me at least- Y'all have your own opinions and I respect that). Those roles such as witches and vampires would be cool to have, too. Perhaps lessen the number of players needed to start? Basically, make the number of people relevant to what our player count is on a daily basis during our most popular times. Perhaps you can have a Final Will system in a book? If someone wants proof of your innocence, perhaps put copies of books in everyone's inventories. What the player wrote will be placed there if they choose to share their will. I did notice you mention something the detective had called a "personal log", so sorry if you already had this idea! For the dead people, how bout a spectator chat? In TOS, I like to discuss what's happening in the game with the people already dead.

Anyway, that's all. Love the suggestion! c:

Thank you for the suggestion. While this gamemode may still be somewhat popular in creative, the team does not believe that this would make a very endearing gamemode on it's own, and will not implement it as it stands.
