Well it sounds weird and too long when you say 'Yearly Light Travel Distance'. Scientists gotta be cool. Even if their terms are vague.

I know you didn't. I just made up a (sort-of) synonymous term for it which doesn't make it seem like the measurement is in time but rather literally shows that the measurement is in distance. I just said that "Light years" sounds better.

Try it out.

"The Andromeda Galaxy is three MILLION YLTDs away from our Milky Way!" (It sounds boring)

Let's improve a little.

"The Andromeda Galaxy is THREE MILLION LIGHT YEARS away from our Milky Way Galaxy!" (That sounds more epic, doesn't it?)

Why are we talking about galaxies all of a sudden? xD
It's just me with my dumb ideas.
I have lots of them. I always do.
Light years make it sound like a measure of time. I'm too lazy to think. It's summer ffs xD. I can change it if you want tho 0.0
