This idea is simple, ultimately unnecessary, but still fun.

The In-Game Status.

We have status updates on the forums, but not in-game. My idea is to implement a command that allows players to send an in-game status that automatically appears to their friends (and friends only) when they join the server and at the time of updating, sort of like a Message of the Day that is unique to each player.

The command could be something like /status <message>, but it can be adjusted if necessary.

Example: (what my friends see when I log in)
Emviar joined.
"Live long and prosper. Oh, wait, that's a goodbye message! Dang it, stop the recording!"

These status updates could, if the player chooses, appear on a sign at a bulletin board that could be added to the lobby. (Maybe there could be more than one, depending on their size and location.) I would suggest having room for 6-8 signs on each bulletin board. These signs would update automatically whenever a player changes their status and would remain until replaced by a new status, kind of like the status updates bar on the right hand of the forums.

There could also be a cooldown for status changes to prevent chat spam. My suggestion would be at least an hour per update, but the developers can tinker with that.

Another point to make is that the messages can only be as long as Minecraft allows, to prevent chat spam.

The chat filter could also be implemented to prevent cursing and/or chat flooding in status updates.

(Optional) I would also suggest adding a preview that players can look at before they confirm their submission. This way, if they make a spelling mistake, or if something is blocked by the chat filter, players will know about it and can adjust their statement so they don't have to wait for the cooldown to end before fixing their mistake.

That's about it. What do you think about it, O reader?

Well I guess it could be by profile? Like you can do /friend view <name> and it'll show you their profile. In which they can implement what they'd like there, with social media and other info. But this isn't that bad. I think this would be a great idea to add!

This is better.
I have like 15 pages of friends.
I would die.

Just a quick question while reading this. While I do love the idea but Would people be able to turn them on and off? Bc some people might not like it Every time a friend joins that pops up too. So is it optional for them? So like say I didn't want to see any of my friends status message would I be able to have that done?

is there a character limit because I am not gonna have all my friends continue writing a 45 paragraph welcome message saying "Hi Hi Hi Hi Hi..."
Yeah, it's submitted from the player in the server, so it can only be as long as Minecraft allows for one player message. If that has been extended, then we could put down a character limit that has the same number as the ones on the forums.

Yeah, I guess a player could mute specific friends' statuses. I don't think that would be a problem.

That's why you can simply mute a player's status updates? I literally said that in the post above you.

I don't see the purpose in this, that's my point like its not going to benefit or do anything apart from flood peoples chats more and annoy people, yes you can remove or mute them but after its happened, you cant predict its going to happen therefor its still going to get on peoples nerves.
