General Get rid of the /marry command! It ruins the server! ;-;

Exactly my point. People fail to see this and think it’s good for the “growth” and “prosperity” of the server. The first day it was launched all the chat was was “Oh, Congratulations to so and so for a happy marriage!” And “WHY THE HELL DID YOU DIVORCE ME, JERK?” And especially the infamous filter bypass, “F*** YOU! WHY DID YOU DIVORCE ME FOR THEM?!?!” It’s just chaos. The spam of drama is unbearable, and I can’t talk with a friend for crap. I hate this command with a passion. I would like someone to give me a valid, true, and matter-of-fact answer as to why this is a good thing. And no, I’m not accepting “Oh, it brings people together!” Because really, it’s a drama machine. Marriage and Divorce aren’t topics that can be thrown around. Please. Tell. Me.
I feel as if your asking points are quite unreasonable. That would be like asking for an extremely matter-of-fact reason as to why we can have our own RP names in creative, or why Downgrade has a parkour set up in it's lobby. We don't NEED any of these things, but we have them because they're fun.

Also, many things can add drama to the server. I have seen many times in RP chats alone where people will argue over who stole their name or power, etc. Sometimes if the said person is removed from the chat they start arguing in global. Should RP chats be removed as well?

Even if the marry command didn't exist, kids would still roleplay as dating couples, married couples, even families with a mother daughter and children. Minecraft is not going to cause deep psychological trauma to these kids and make them think marriage is a joke. If it did, the child would most likely already have some psychological issues pre-minecraft. If kids are confused on marriage and divorce they will usually just ask their parents, who will explain it to them in a way they can understand.

Also, young children are not stupid. They can actually be quite fast learners and accepting due to their innocent nature. Kids 7-10 can distinguish what is fact and what is fiction. If they couldn't, they'd be thinking that all sea sponges wear square pants.

Minecraft is a video game and not a reality. If you kill people in Murder are we therefore encouraging our players to be serial killers when they grow up?

I'm obviously generalising here but; young players don't know enough about marriage to care but they'll learn about it correctly in time. Older players are generally too old to care about a bit of text in a videogame targeted at children.

On a serious note, the ability to toggle off the message in chat if you really do get offended somehow could probably be implemented and then you have no worries if you're one of those few.

I think I understand now. I still back that the drama is a little much, but now I kind of see how it can be fun. Thanks for clearing that up. :)

I definitely think you're overthinking this. Situations like this is why we have staff. The staff team are trained to deal with scenarios like this when they become helper. If something like this happens then it's no reason to remove the command, just let the staff deal with it.

My parents divorced when I was 4. It didn't really matter to me at that time nor now in my teens. Maybe I'm not human or that emotional idk.

I played a R rated game when I was 7 or 10 yet pretty young. I knew it wasn't real because how could it be? To some people it is yet if that is the case they need to take a break and gain some mentality.

There is always a fine line between real and fictional. Most people are going to be hurt by real things and the only example for this is that a couple decided to get married on here and one ended the marrage(P1) yet maybe possibilities can happen.
1.P1 wants to break up with P2
2. P1 is just breaking up the marrage not the relationship.
3. P2 is completely scared that their relationship is ending yet they might instead ask P1 first before jumping to conclusions.

I’m gonna have to disagree. I understand playing around without the command. Heck, me and a friend pretended we mere father and son once, and it was pretty funny at times. But me and my friend are mature enough and have enough cognitive sense to not be utterly offended and start drama. There are 7-10 year old kids in the server. If I was a parent, I wouldn’t want my child to think that marriage is a joke. It really isn’t. In real life, it can be heartbreaking or even suicidal to get divorced. And to be able to, in no less than a minute, marry someone, divorce them, rinse, and repeat 3 times over, really isn’t a good thing. If I’m being honest here, there are some people that want to have a perfectly normal conversation in chat without the drama and arguments that consist of immature kids thinking their life is over because they got divorced in a game. Like I mentioned earlier, I would NOT want my child to be fake-marrying someone in a game. It’s just inappropriate considering what marriage is. It is not something to joke about. I would like you to explain why you think this is a good idea.
The marry command is an innocent command, I understand it could bother people about the divorce issues, but that's not like your parents actually getting divorced which is a completely different thing. Marriage is pretty much dating but made legal so if any issues happen it can be taken care of (Not the case with the in-game command though.) This command is a way to have fun, nobody should be freaking out that they've just been divorced by their best friend or their boyfriend/girlfriend or whoever is their married partner in game. So the command is just something that should be taken lightly.

I honestly find that removing would have no point and no change because people still roleplay it in their RPs and stuff. It is the same thing. There are many Minecraft couples, that end up breaking up. So if that is going on, there shouldn't be any problems with the command.

Honestly, if someone would feel emotional about this, they shouldn't use the command. The command is just a fun game just take it lightly.

You honestly think a 7-10 year old will remember a time when they ‘got married’ to someone else in a blocky game? Say this child grows up and meets someone they’re interested in. They’ve probably been through enough in school to realise it’s not just a simple ‘will you marry me’, but it takes time to understand that special someone. And that’s if they remember when they played Minecraft, which is unlikely.

I think you all are overthinking.
