General Get rid of the /marry command! It ruins the server! ;-;

I'm pretty sure this is a game for children, not the newest update of Tinder.
Marriage has no correlation to that, it isn’t an explicit topic that should be blocked. It’s an innocent command that brings players together, which is beneficial for the growth and prosperity of the server
I've always been against the idea of the /marry command, even since the original suggestion post existed. I made points that I felt were valid and several people, even the current owner, pretty much just ignored them and moved on.
That being said, I haven't played on the server for months, so I guess it's not really my business to vote for decisions that shape the server. That's just my opinion.

I tend to disagree. What about growth and prosperity? All I saw of the command was spammed chat, drama, and the impossibility to have a conversation due to the spam. Please explain.
honestly, i find it a bit rude - and how you can just divorce someone like that?

I mean, I'm not the biggest fan of the whole thing. I made multiple points about why it shouldn't be here, but I'm not the majority of people. If enough people like it to where the points people who didn't support it made aren't as relevant, I suppose there isn't much that can be done. I know the points made were probably thought over, it's just that a crazy amount of people wanted it and I don't doubt that some seemingly small things were looked over. Besides, it seems like having it made quite a bit of people happy. Though in all honesty, I kinda' don't want to go on creative until there is something implemented to stop the spam. I've heard from several people that it's very annoying. I doubt enough people will support the removal of the thing so... whatever, I guess. If it was to be removed, I would feel it would be because of it being a controversial topic, which was why the thread was locked before it was brought back.

This is what I'm talking about. People keep mentioning one of our points - the spam - and acting like everything's resolved now. But it's not.
That's one reason why I was against the implementation of this command. I felt like it would create a lot of drama and unnecessary arguments between players. And, you're right - divorce is often extremely damaging to the children involved and teaching the kids on PartyZone that constant divorce and remarriage is "okay" is not okay in my eyes.

Since there is a toggle for the spam, your chat shouldn't be a problem anymore.
For the whole "marriage is controversial" thing I'd have to very much disagree. Before the marriage command was even implemented, many PZ players would jokingly say they were married, dating, etc., even if they weren't. Marriage isn't a controversial subject, and neither is divorce and re-marriage. In real life, sometimes things just don't work out between two people, and they can both move onto something much better. We can't shield our eyes to everything, especially not something as apparent as relationship status.
Though I don't think we should be over-thinking this. The marriage command is just for a bit of fun and variety and that's all. It's not harming the server or it's reputation since many servers have this command. Just let people have some fun with it.
If someone IS being immature towards you for "divorcing" them to the point where you're feeling uncomfortable or agitated be sure to tell a staff member to deal with your harasser. Or screenshot it and report it to the forums with some info on the situation.
All in all, it's all just a game we play for fun. And practical problems can be fixed with suggestions, so long as they are reasonable.

I’m gonna have to disagree. I understand playing around without the command. Heck, me and a friend pretended we mere father and son once, and it was pretty funny at times. But me and my friend are mature enough and have enough cognitive sense to not be utterly offended and start drama. There are 7-10 year old kids in the server. If I was a parent, I wouldn’t want my child to think that marriage is a joke. It really isn’t. In real life, it can be heartbreaking or even suicidal to get divorced. And to be able to, in no less than a minute, marry someone, divorce them, rinse, and repeat 3 times over, really isn’t a good thing. If I’m being honest here, there are some people that want to have a perfectly normal conversation in chat without the drama and arguments that consist of immature kids thinking their life is over because they got divorced in a game. Like I mentioned earlier, I would NOT want my child to be fake-marrying someone in a game. It’s just inappropriate considering what marriage is. It is not something to joke about. I would like you to explain why you think this is a good idea.

Saying you’re getting divorced in minecraft is way different then having people in real life be divorced, and if it makes you upset to see those messages, it will be able to be toggled to view the divorce and people getting married in the near future so you don’t have to deal with feeling that way about marriage.

Exactly my point. People fail to see this and think it’s good for the “growth” and “prosperity” of the server. The first day it was launched all the chat was was “Oh, Congratulations to so and so for a happy marriage!” And “WHY THE HELL DID YOU DIVORCE ME, JERK?” And especially the infamous filter bypass, “F*** YOU! WHY DID YOU DIVORCE ME FOR THEM?!?!” It’s just chaos. The spam of drama is unbearable, and I can’t talk with a friend for crap. I hate this command with a passion. I would like someone to give me a valid, true, and matter-of-fact answer as to why this is a good thing. And no, I’m not accepting “Oh, it brings people together!” Because really, it’s a drama machine. Marriage and Divorce aren’t topics that can be thrown around. Please. Tell. Me.
