‘Other’ works, you’re right. It’s just that some people may want more than that.
As I said, some people may want more than just an ‘other’ option to show their gender.

I think it would be a great idea. Some people would like to show their gender and maybe if they're not comfortable with it there could be an option where your gender doesn't actually show up. I think it might be abused but like @Emo said if anyone comes across anything
inappropriate they could just report it and staff could handle it. I think that it would be great as many people on the forums don't like to identify as male or female.

Well, You can't make up genders that are silly like "fidget spinner". But, some people might have come up with their own gender that isn't silly and they might take it very seriously.
A suggestion:
Maybe if this was to be implemented there could be a thread where users could comment different genders to be added to the list if there does end up being a list after all.
If we get a choice of what we set our gender as then maybe there could be the same filter for the in-game chat so nothing offensive or rude pops up.
In my opinion, I think the free choice of your gender (being able to type it in) is a very good idea because it gives us even more freedom than the list.
