Rejected Calm Down Punishments

Can we like calm down discord punishments? I don’t like getting no warnings and getting instantly muted for calling someone a pervert. For the record the targeted person was talking about something extremely innapropriate, and of an inappropriate nature, so in my defense he should’ve been muted first, not warned lol

Okay, I'll give an example. Please view the attached link. Basically, what's happening here is a PZ Discord staff member says something rude to me and about my suggestion, I ask why they're against the suggestion, and another staff member tells us to drop the topic. I ask why we should drop the topic (because it wasn't escalating or heated) and I was muted by AVenomoose. I don't have a screenshot of me being muted, but I wouldn't have saved these screenshots if I wasn't punished wrongfully. This is an example of staff telling users what to do and what not do to and not taking what we're saying into account. It's like this staff member was saying "Do what I say because I'm staff and you're not."

Yoooo I'm in that one!!!!

Oi stay on topic Spirits

Alright, fine. I do agree that's highly strange, however I think that the staff member who told you to drop the discussion (I already forgot who lmao) did actually foresee an argument. Even if you weren't arguing at the moment, it could have easily become a full scale fight.

Also I'm on board for the finger guns. I need an emote for when I make a dank joke, you know what I mean?

I agree that the staff member may have thought they were foreseeing an argument, but I changed gears for a moment and asked why we weren't allowed to talk about a suggestion, and that's when I was muted. I wasn't arguing, and I wasn't insulting anyone - I wasn't breaking rules. But I got muted the second I stood up to a staff member and asked why we were being silenced.

In that case, I see your point. You have a right to know why you were accused of being in the wrong. Even if you couldn't have discussed this issue in global chat, it could be done just as easily in DMs.

I left bc they wanted to mute me anytime I said anything they didn't like, I wasn't even breaking rules. ITS MORE THAN TRIGGER HAPPY. They just do whatever they want.

A lot have said you felt unfairly punished or whatever, we have punishment appeals for a reason. We don't just have punishment appeals because we like punishing you guys and want a ton of punishment appeals, no! We want partyzone to grow, we want to not punish players, but we have rules also for a reason to keep our server a safe and family friendly environment and when players break the rules and we just let them without punishment just simply telling them often doesn't work and they'll continue to break that or whatever many rules because they'll think it is okay because we aren't punishing them or really telling them it is against the rules. We have punishment appeals because us staff our humans and we do make mistakes and we do accidentally punish sometimes without realizing we did it so punishment appeals also help us fix our mistakes of us falsely punishing someone. Obviously that isn't always the case sometimes we do correctly punish so you can't just take what i'm saying now that we always falsely punish because we don't more times than not we punish correctly. So really if you get punished make an appeal because it could really help you and all. Also we punish people when we have to, not for fun. We don't just punish people cause we think it is fun, because it really is NOT fun punishing someone but I have to do it when they break the rules or else they'll most likely think it is fine to do it.

As well if there is a staff member you really feel is abusing their power we have a staff abuse report thing right here for that reason. We take staff abusing their power seriously so if you honestly feel like a staff member is abusing their power or doing something you don't think they should be doing we have a report for that so they don't get away with it.

As for our punishments, I get you want more leniency. But it is hard to give you more leniency or figure out how to fix this issue when you aren't giving us anything really to go off of, because our punishments as a whole i don't see a problem with. But if you guys said certain punishments you want more leniency we would be open to talk about that but really i don't think we need to fix our whole punishment system when we have, appeals, reports, and staff who are all willing to have a private conversation with you about punishments and all that.

I will say this I love partyzone community and all its players but sometimes i do agree us staff and players don't always see eye to eye on things, part of it this is a lot of players (not including ex-staff) don't understand what staff have to go through and deal with and all the hard decision and i am not trying to make this seem like staff are the victim because i feel like neither side is the victim. A part of why we have to punish is because people decide to break the rules and we as staff if we didn't do something when someone broke the rules they'd just probably continue to think it is okay. I've seen people say there friends quit because us staff punished them. First off, it is their choice to quit we didn't make them they could have appealed, as well they must of done something against the rules to receive that punishment in the first place so they can't be all victim type as they did break the rules, but if you are in that situation where your friend wants to quit because of a punishment tell them to appeal and if they did and got denied tell them to message the staff member because i know as a staff personally we would be totally willing to have a private conversation with them.

So please just tell us what certain punishments you want changed or fixed and we will try our best to work out something with you guys as I don't think personally we can't do anything unless you help us with what type of punishments you want to talk about changing with us because us staff i'm sure will be willing but we can't do it unless you help us.

Well, Emviar got warned for saying something (I can't remember and don't want to scroll up) and when he asked why, he got muted. That's hardly fair, is it? People have a right to know why they were punished, and it seems like too trivial a thing to file a whole staff abuse report.

Well I got warned for giving criticism about checking the plots where griefs happened and people got wrongfully banned multiple times in the same week (me and yes I appealed them before you say WELL APPEAL THEM) I also got muted shortly after for rudeness when this happened

I agree with the suggestion more now. Looking back on this, they should probably try to compile a list of punishments that players generally view as unfair and do the best to revise them.

Another thing: As staff, I never liked how our appeal system worked. If you refuse to fess up for things like bans with no evidence of how you weren't hacking, built what they claim you had, etc, it's hard to be accepted. A lot of staff members just jump right in when it comes to punishments, as well. Sometimes, they see something in chat that suggests they might be doing something on their plot. They warn without teleporting beforehand and use the chat evidence in an appeal. I just think they should be a bit more clear on what type of evidence you should gather as a staff member for certain situations. Maybe even a guide within the forums with tips on how to gather evidence for a user report. I also think they should make the limit for making another appeal after a first is rejected shorter. People get very annoyed at the two-month wait and I really don't see too much of a point if a person will just end up PMing the staff member who punished them about the situation. Like TimeLord said, the appeals are kind of a pre-appeal.

A few of you are probably going to disagree with me, but whatever. In all honesty, the staff do their best. We are all human in the end. I have made mistakes as staff and so have many others and I sometimes feel there are some players who refuse to recognize that. I know that if I did something wrong, I'd fix it no matter what. I spent a couple hours working out a mistake once and I know plenty of other staff who would do that and have. I am truly sorry to those of you who have fallen victim to human error. They do try their best with this stuff, trust me.
Also another thing I would like to say. The evidence that banned me was well possible for anyone to do just randomly. Speaking of which it was just one scene over thought about.

Some things do need to change expecially evidence and appeals but the rules themselves are fine just how they are taken care of. As well one thing I will never like because of staff is there is no clear idea what rules give what punishments. I mean yea its up to the staff but they could give a simple warn or mute depending on who and what they think of the situation.

Anywho I don't agree with the main topic of the thread, lowering the rules a bit, but I do agreed making them more clear and direct. Such as hacking is always a perm ban until their appeal is accepted. Now that is a definite thing. While chat is always a mystery as it could be ban, mute, or simple warning.

Well every time we appeal, it gets rejected.
If your appeal is rejected, there is a reason for that. We don't punish people because we want to. It is our job to enforce the rules and if you break them, you're going to get punished. Though, if you have a question / concern about a denied appeal, you can PM us about it, and we'd happy to address it.

Adding on to this, if you think a staff member is abusing their powers, you can always make a staff abuse report. We take these things very seriously, and the form isn't that difficult to fill out.

Regarding our actual punishments, I completely understand why you would want them to be more lenient. However, generalizing our punishment system as a whole isn't going to help us improve it. If we get specific things you dislike, then we can hopefully focus on improving those things and giving y'all a better experience. Otherwise, we can't really do much.

I will agree with something @NaNatNat said above. I do agree with changing the wait time to do another punishment appeal. As I will agree 2 months is kind of long. I feel like perhaps change it to 1 month or 2 weeks or something because I feel like yes we do need like a certain amount of time before another punishment appeal but I feel like it's kind of a bit unfair you'd have to wait two months.
As say you appeal for a ban and it gets rejected. I will say you should not have to wait 2 months to appeal again, I do believe there still should be a wait as there's a reason why we had to put the 2 month before you appeal again.

I find that rather odd that happened personally, because as said we don't punish without reason. He most likely got muted when asking why is because he said that thing or word again that had him warned is the only reason why he would have been muted, not because he asked why but because he broke the rules again. You are allowed to ask why but just don't repeat what got you warned, because any staff member will be fine pming you the reason why I guarantee!

Well I got warned for giving criticism about checking the plots where griefs happened and people got wrongfully banned multiple times in the same week (me and yes I appealed them before you say WELL APPEAL THEM) I also got muted shortly after for rudeness when this happened
Often criticism can come off and be quite rude or harsh sometimes which is not tolerated at our server so if your criticism was rude or harsh then that is probably why you got warned and if you're not sure why you got warned message the staff member they will be willing to tell you. If people did got wrongfully banned and they appealed and got denied, as said please PM a staff member as we would gladly work it out further in pms as when you make an appeal you should get the evidence from the staff member of why that punishment and what you did wrong. We don't do appeals and just explain what you did, we show actual evidence, and i find it hard that multiple people were wrongfully banned multiple times in the same week and if they all appealed then they would be given the evidence why and if it does get rejected, please please please, i can't stress this enough Pm a staff member, we WILL work it out with you. And if you were muted after the warn is most likely you continued being rude or whatever and if your confused you can ask the staff member who gave you the punishment.

Well every time we appeal, it gets rejected.
If an appeal gets rejected, as i said above you will receive evidence why so you can physically see why you were punished in that way. And obviously if you were falsely punished the punishment will be removed and accepted. I HIGHLY doubt an appeal would get rejected without the staff member giving you their valid evidence of what you did. So I know it looks like every time you appeal you get rejected well if it is rejected that means you were most likely punished correctly as they should have shown you the proof and you did do what we saw and found.

So, I know it sucks whenever you have to appeal because you automatically assume it'll get rejected. Well even if it does please talk to the staff member in pms we would be fine with having a conversation in private. So please as i said above is there any certain and real punishment that you want to talk about fixing please say so.

I already talked to a Sr. Mod about it, I don't want to type it all again.

I feel as though I agree here, I think the whole staff system needs to be redone, staff members need to be at least 14 years of age, I appealed and though it got denied, I was unbanned before I even got a response, that's terrible.

I don't want to have an argument so I'll leave it here for me.

"I would also add the reset of the statistics (minigames/murder/downgrade), including ranks and coins, in the case of a player caught cheating to balance the shorter punishments"

If they took away your rank, that is totally scamming as it would be unfair to default ranks, they would not get the same punishment as us.

If people did got wrongfully banned and they appealed and got denied, as said please PM a staff member as we would gladly work it out further
This sentence or system is well how to put it... dumb? I was banned once and then denied for my appeal...I had to basically beg the staff member that I didn't hack and they were not correct that I did. Ps in the end I was unbanned luckily.

Why have a appeal system if I have to pm the staff member after to further my words. Its more of a pre appeal than a actual appeal.
...
As well I will never get over how they thought I hacked, of course I am a rare seed and don't look like I would be good at anything that much I know is true from multiable people just yea... But the more I watch staff members as its easy to see when they are hidden or watch them randomly the more I am disappointed in this server.

Staff are too easy to judge a situation... fast is never better if its not safe. Cursing yes is probally the easy to prove but hacking should have more though or evidence involved. Sometimes I wish I could teach the mods or helpers a thing or two because apparently they don't see things that I see.

For example I believe some players are hackers but at the same time I love playing with them because it improves my skill as they could or could not be hackers and if they are the better. Because hacks are just a advantage that any player can be like and staff don't appear to understand hacks only make it easy to get to certain levels of skill while hardcore players like me at times have that skill by working hard and thinking about the opponents next move not by taking the easy route but the hard route.

Anyways my whole point here and why I choose to respond is why have a pre appeal system and as well not get the evidence from which you were banned before the appeal as well. Btw you can never know if someone truly hacks as I always think that even if it seems unlikely its truly possible because hacks only give the appearance of skill but players out there with true skill exist.

Um ranks they probally mean stats in the game, as I have played with someone who definitly hacks, and is still rank 62 yet they got to rank 22.
...
And for the things such as payed things like classes vip and elite would not ever be affect because they hacked unless they did that by winning a event.

That, right there, is a big part of the appeal problem. Why would anybody be gathering evidence that they weren't hacking? I wouldn't be recording my own screen just so I have a way to prove a report wrong. That's ridiculous, and I bet a lot of people whose computers can't update to 1.9 because it's too slow would probably say they couldn't play Minecraft and constantly be recording their screen.

It's almost like the appeal system is only for people who are willing to admit they were breaking the rules - but there are often cases where the rules weren't broken, (and the player simply wants to remove their punishment) and that's where the appeal system falters.

Staff will have video evidence of the player hacking, it will either show the player hacking or it will not. Sometimes players aren’t aware of what hack they used, and so they appeal and are shown the evidence, sometimes the staff will be in the wrong, I have been in the wrong in the past but we all slip up sometimes, it’s part of growing up. As I said, the evidence will either be sufficient or not. We, as staff, have to go off of what we see - players could be using a gaming mouse, keyboard, macros or other forums of things which aren’t hacking, however we can’t see that players are using them and to us it may look like hacking, even if the appeal is denied we give the opportunity for them to pm us further, and punishments are usually resolved in the right way through this process.

If the appeal will just lead to a pm, why don't we just make the appeal a pm? Or limited to 5 responses. As well when the staff member replies they show the evidence of said offense. If we were not in the wrong we have no idea sometimes of why we were banned. This leads us to say We did not do " ____" and give reasons as how it could of looked that way or whatever. Yet sometimes that doesn't solve the issue expecially when we have no idea what proof shows this.

One of the reasons we have appeals is for players to find out as to why they are banned, if the ban or punishment isn’t obvious, like you’d know what you did if you were punished for swearing but not so much if it was for an inappropriate comment, you’d appeal to find out what you did wrong, the staff would provide the evidence of what you did wrong and then you would pm said staff member to discuss with them why they should be unbanned, in most cases with people who know what they did, they get given the evidence and understand that what they did was wrong.

That doesn't make any sense at all. When you appeal to a court for breaking the law, you already know what law you've broken because you were in court the first time (in this case, banned/punished). The ban/punish message should tell exactly why a player has been banned, and then they can appeal if they believe they didn't deserve the punishment. Isn't that a lot easier and more simple?

That's just my opinion and it's just an idea. Feel free to disagree if you have a better idea.
