a dark corner
If you like fantasy stories this will really butter your bagels. This was my first story which I have recently rewritten. I hope y'all enjoy <3.

Year 10,452

The air was filled with joy, laughter and happiness. Victory was sweet. After years of war, the people of The Realm had finally rid the world of the demon Vargoth. For the last ten years Vargoth had held the lands in a reign of terror, in hopes to control The Realm and all of the magic it contained. The Realm was the largest dimension out of the five which also included Umbra, Ellithia, Frioth and Sintel. Each of the five dimensions was home to a magic of sort. The Realm was home to nature magic, Umbra was home to shadow magic, Frioth was home to ice magic, Sintel was home to ocean magic and Ellithia was home to heavens magic. Ellithia was the strongest, then The Realm, then Umbra, then Sintel and then Frioth, the weakest and smallest. The reason Vargoth targeted The Realm however, was because Ellithia was gifted a shield that covered the whole dimension. It was given to them by the Creators, the beings whom created all, because they felt Ellithia was too beautiful to be touched by the hand of evil.

The past ten years of war had taken The Realm to its knees. The once vibrant dimension was now dark. Five out of the six species that dwelled there had become extinct or few. The animals were scarce and the plant life was destroyed. But the people never gave up hope. Hope was what drove them to win. The people were lead and protected by a group called The Royals of Nature. These royals were selected by the earth to fight for The Realm and protect it at its darkest of times. The Royals were semi-immortal beings who possessed the power to use all four elements of magic. Nature magic is split into four elements, earth, fire, air and water. Most beings had access from one to three of the elements, how many they had access to was out of their control. The more elements they could use, the more powerful their magic. The only beings to be able to use all four are the Royals of Nature. The Royals include a Queen, Princess and a Servant. There is no King or Prince because there is no father nature, it was a choice out of the control of the people. Alongside the royals is the Guardian of Nature. The Guardian is a being whom works alongside the royals but is also more independent. They tend to only appear when The Realm needs them most. At that current time there was a Queen, Astral, a Princess, Destiny, a Servant, Athus and a Guardian, Aurora. Each dimension had a different system of royals but each had a Guardian.

As well as each of the dimensions having their own magic, they also have dark and light magic. This is a magic for those who have strong abilities and powerful magic capability. Once the user is at a higher level of power they choose to either take the path of light magic or dark magic, each with their own positives and negatives. There is no good or evil between the two, only different types of magic. As well, the user can only pick one. All attempts to use two have ended in only death.

~

Astral looked over the village that stood in front of her. For the first time in years, the sounds of birds tweeting filled her ears. She felt at peace with herself, happy with all that had been achieved.
"Are you alright there Astral?" A female voice said from behind her. She looked around to see Aurora, a tough looking warrior. Aurora wore mostly brown and black colours. On her torso she wore a black leather tunic with a long brown shirt underneath. On her legs she wore black trousers with knee high leather boots. She also wore a long, faded red hooded cloak which covered her arms and most of her legs when she stood still. By her side a sword was sheathed. She had long brown hair and a long, pale face. Her eyes were a deep crimson colour. She was broadly built, tall and strong, standing quite a bit over six foot.
"Actually, I am." She replied with a bright tone.
"I'm glad." Aurora said with a nod, a faint smile on her face. The Guardian then turned, walking back into the Temple. The Temple was the base of the Royals, there they made battle plans, trained and dwelled most of the time. It wasn't a temple of worship but more of tribute to the magic the land was gifted with.

Astral stared into the Temple at the main hall. The walls were covered in paintings of battles of old, of victories and of joy. The room also held sorrow. It had been used an infirmary of sort during the Great War so many lives had been lost there. However, those lives were not lost in vain but honoured. Suddenly, her thoughts were interrupted by a voice from her side. She looked over to see a young looking girl with long blonde hair. She was rather elegant with blue eyes and a slim figure. She wore a long leather tunic and a green shirt. She had two long daggers strapped to her back, the straps from the sheaths crossing over her chest.
"Whatcha doing there Astral?" Destiny said with a chuckle, walking over to her friend.
"Just lost in my thoughts as per usual." She replied with a smile. The two embraced each other in a hug of greeting.
"How are things in the South Lands?" Astral asked.
"As well as they could be in these circumstances. The lands are littered with destroyed villages. No survivors." Destiny said with a sigh.
"Does that mean there are no more Vyren?" Astral asked with a worried look.
"It is sadly so, I dread to break the news to Aurora."
Vyren are human like creatures but with one major difference. They have devil like wings and a tail. This however, they could hide at will. Vyren were often feared because of their appearance, that's why they tended to hide as humans. Often the way to tell them apart was their eyes tended to be crimson. However, most didn't know that. They only dwelled in the South Lands, in small villages and towns. Aurora was a Vyren, this meant she was the last of her kind.

The two went to break the news to the Guardian. They entered the temple and went through a door at the back right wall of the main hall. That lead to a large library which also lead to various other rooms. There they found Aurora, sitting at a desk on the lower layer, flipping through a large, old book. They approached her and Astral began to speak.
"Aurora, I come bearing bad news, your..." Suddenly Aurora interrupted her.
"Don't you think I already know?" She said, her expression annoyed more than anything.
"Well Destiny only came back just now so I wasn't sure..."
"I've known for a while now, now if you excuse me I'd like to finish what I am doing." She snapped. The two royals rushed out of the room, not wanting to be in there much longer.
"Well that was an interesting response." Destiny said.
"Actually, I should have expected it. You know Aurora, she dislikes talking about any of this kind of thing. I'm not surprised she reacted in this way."
"Indeed." Destiny replied. The two then headed off, catching up as they hadn't seen the other in a good week or so.

~

"I see your as grumpy as ever." A voice said from somewhere behind Aurora. She turned to see a figure wearing dark clothes, she was skinny and somewhat pale with long, dark hair that faded into an ash grey at the ends. A battle axe was strapped to her back as well.
"Ophes!" Aurora said, leaping to her feet and rushing over to the figure, giving her a fierce bear hug. Ophes chuckled loudly, embracing her friend's hug.
"It's been so long." Aurora said, stepping back from the hug.
"Indeed it as, we have a lot to talk about." Ophes replied.
The two sat down on a sofa that was covered in green cloth. The two chatted for a hours, catching up on all that had happened in the last few years. The two were both Guardians, Ophes being the Guardian of Umbra. They had both trained together and were inseparable. Since the two lived in different dimensions they didn't see each other very often so they made sure to cherish every moment together. Ophes made sure to come to The Realm often as it was her homeland however, she was often busy.

~

Months had passed and the dimension had recovered well from the past. Communities had come back together and businesses were back to work. The people had rebuilt their homes and villages to the best of their abilities. There was still a lot of damage but the whole dimension was the happiest it had ever been in over a decade.

It was late in the evening and Astral was headed to bed. She'd only just got home after bidding farewell to Ophes. Her house was small and simple with basic supplies. As she walked into her bedroom she noticed an envelope on her bed. She sat down and opened it. Inside was a neatly written note. She read it out loud with concern.
"Dear Astral. Recently The Realm has been at a place we are all happy with, as you know. So I have realised, for now I am not of need. The only work I am good for is protecting this place and since we are out of danger my job is done for now. I am no people person, as you are probably aware, so I have made a decision. I am going to do what I was instructed to when a time like this came. I'm leaving for now, going into a magically enhanced hiding, to only be awoken when The Realm is at its knees once more. By the time you are reading this, I'll already be gone. Writing a letter may seem cowardice but it was the best way to not let my emotions get the better of what I must do. My only wish is for you to keep this quiet, I do not want to make this a bigger thing than it must. I hope to see you again, but also don't under the circumstances it will have to be. Aurora."
Astral felt warm tears fall from her eyes. She knew this day had to come but it was still hard. They were all like a big family so to have one of the members go it was extremely saddening. For all she knew she'd never see Aurora again, but that was unlikely. However, it would be a long time. She got into bed, her mind restless...

Year 12,857

Aurora awoke with a jolt, gasping for breath like she'd forgot how to breathe. She calmed herself and took in her surroundings. She was where she expected to be. She had awoken in a large cave. The cave walls were covered with vines and leaves. The rest was very plain. The walls dripped with water, the droplets being the only source of sound.
"Why am I awake?" She thought out loud. Suddenly, the realisation hit like a ton of bricks. There was only one reason for her to have been awoken from her deep slumber. A war had begun in The Realm. She quickly jumped to her feet, sheathing her longsword and rushing out of the cave.

Her cloak flew in the wind as she ran. It seemed to be almost on fire, but the fire was crimson. She knew straight away as she left the cave that there was something wrong. There was no tweet from the birds, no rustle from the scampering deers, no hoot from the owl, nothing. The trees felt dead, the magic was fading.

Soon Aurora made it to Serea, the village of the temple. She stood on a steep hill, looking down at the village of which she once dwelled. The place was not how it once was. Gone was the peace, was the community and the bustling streets. Instead there was fear. People rushed around, healing the wounded, using any spare time to train and trying to find food. This was not good. Parts of the village seemed burned down. Holes gaped in the once strong walls.

The Guardian made her way to the entrance of the temple. She pulled her hood over her head as far as it could go. As she walked in she saw a familiar face. It was one of the guards, her name, Thea. Aurora approached her and spoke.
"Where is Queen Astral?" She said in a fake voice, which was very believable.
"Are you having a laugh?" The girl replied, not impressed.
"Do I seem like the type of person to joke? Aurora replied, slightly annoyed a the rude comment.
"You've obviously been living under a rock for the past one hundred years, Astral is dead."
"What!" Aurora yelled, a lump forming in her throat. "That is not possible."
"It damn well is. Athus too, as dead as the Vyren. Taken by the hand of Vargoth, that fearful creature."
Aurora was speachless, she never thought this day would come.
"What about Ophes?"
"Missing in action, assumed dead, same with Destiny. The others are confirmed dead. And that dumb Guardian of Nature ain't shown her face. She was supposed to be 'ere when this place is at it's knees, but I don't see her anywhere. Cowardice, that's what she is." The girl said with an angry tone. Aurora paused for a moment.
"Ouch." She said in a plain tone. A look of realisation flashed over the girl's face.
"Oh my goodness Aurora I do apologize." She said quickly,
"You do not need to apologize. And no, I'm no coward. I cannot wake at will." She replied.
"What's with the hood and shadows?" Thea asked.
"I'm keeping a low profile for now while I make a plan and see what's happening."
"I see."

The thing about the people of The Realm which makes them ever so powerful is that nature magic prolongs the life of some races. Vyren, Centaurs and Lupus (half wolf people) have extremely long lives because of the magic. Humans however, do not, simply because they are the weakest of the species. However, the others species' are almost extinct unlike humans who always thrive. Thea was a lupus, though she tended to hide it. Humans didn't often get on with other species, it's just how life works.

Aurora bid farewell to the lupus and left. She headed out of the village and into the hills, soon making her way to the Frozen Mountains. It was a mass of land covered in high mountains and thick layers of snow. Serea stood close to it, in the enchanted forests of the Plains.

She soon made her way half way up one of the mountains, and to a small cave. She went inside and sat down at the mouth. The cold didn't bother her, so she was fine. As she sat down, her composure fell. Warm tears fell from her eyes as sadness gripped her. Grief took over. She'd felt loss before, but not like this. Her closest friends, family even, had been taken by death. Vargoth had taken everyone from her. Her real family, her closest friends, her whole species. What was she to do? She had to fight but with what army. The Royals plus the Guardian could not take down Vargoth, so what hope was there for her. The lone Guardian. There was little hope.

The Guardian unsheathed her sword, placing it in front of where she sat. She stared at it, lost in thought. It was a mighty weapon, made of a black metal called black argon. It was a rare metal only used by the greatest of dark mages. Which Aurora was. She then looked down at the land below her. It seemed as though all colour had been drained from the once vibrant forest. The Royals of Nature where the people who held together that colour, that life.

Aurora then stood up, grabbing her sword and wiping away her tears. She gripped her sword so hard her knuckles whitened. She pledged to take revenge, or die trying. A wave of determination filled her body. She headed out of the cave and back to the village. As the walked through the quiet forest she felt eyes on her. Suddenly, she noticed a fox in the bush next to her. When she looked down at it it rushed off. She smiled, glad to know there was still some animals remaining. As she walked once more, she still had the feeling of being watched. Often, she'd see the fox in the corner of her eye. It was following her. She felt no agression from it. Then, suddenly, a raven flew down and landed on her shoulder as she walked. She carried on walking but felt content with her new found friends.

As she neared Serea the raven flew off of her arm and onto one of the rooves of the huts ahead. As she entered the gates she made sure to hide her face. Ophes had taught her a little shadow manipulation a while back which she used to hide her face. She entered and walked up the main street which lead to the Temple. She was soon stopped by a civilian. It was a scarred, bald man. He was broad and reasonably tall, but not as tall as Aurora.
"What you doin 'ere? Are you a spy of Vargoth or somethin?" He asked.
"I am no spy nor a worker of Vargoth." She replied in a plain, calm tone.
"Well, why are you 'ere? And why do you wear red?" He asked, obviously not believing her.
"I'm here because this is my home village and I'm wearing a red cloak because it matches my eyes." She replied, slightly sarcastically.
"Well, how was I supposed to know that?" He said in an agressive tone.
"You weren't." She replied plainly.
The man then walked off, muttering under his breath.

She carried on walking but was soon met with many fearful eyes watching her every step. Suddenly she was stopped again. This time it was a skinner man, tall but once again not as tall as Aurora. He was holding a knife.
"I wouldn't do that if I were you." She said, her tone still plain but firm.
"You better leave, you ain't welcome 'ere, spy." The man said.
"I am no spy, do not contest me."
"Leave." He said, trying his best to instimidate her, though it wasn't working at all.
"No." She replied.
Suddenly, pain filled her torso. She looked down to see the tip of a blade sticking out from between the gap in her cloak. The blade was then taken out, leaving an open wound. Aurora however, did not seem fazed to those around her. She had learnt to hide pain very well. She turned around to see a scared looking woman holding the blade.
"That was rather rude." Aurora said, her voice emotionless.
The Guardian then took the blade out of the woman's hand and snapped it over her knee. The woman then ran off, fear filling her. Aurora turned back to the man and spoke with a sigh.
"I told you not to but you didn't listen, now I have blood on my cloak."
The man ran too, not knowing there was no danger.
"I mean no harm." She said to all around her, though many doubted her words. She quickly pushed through and headed straight to the Temple.

As she entered Thea gave her a look of concern.
"Getting into trouble as always I see Guardian." She said with a chuckle, though Aurora was not laughing.
"You good?" She asked, noticing Aurora's serious behaviour. Without a word, Aurora walked past the guard. She headed into the library and then into a door that lead out of there. Thea followed with concern. The door lead into a large, darker room.
"What is this room?" Thea asked.
"It's my room." Aurora replied. Suddenly, the Guardian turned into a flash of red. The next thing Thea knew, Aurora was standing there, her cloak had disappeared and in replacement was a pair of red, devil-like wings and a tail. The Guardian then snapped her fingers and the darkness around her face disappeared. This was the first time Thea had properly seen Aurora's eyes. She'd seen Aurora speak years ago, before Aurora disappeared, but she was only young. Now, the Guardian stood in front of her, talking to her like a regular civilian would.

Suddenly the guard noticed the wound on Aurora's stomach.
"Stay right here, I'll get you some bandage and ointment!" Thea said, but before she should move Aurora spoke.
"No, wait." She said, her voice calm and plain.
Then, a splur of magic rose from the ground. Moments later the wount was healed.
"How?" Thea said, speachless.
"This room holds a lot of my old magic for times like this where I need a large quantity of magic to heal myself. Sadly it only works for me since it's my own magic, but others could do it." She explain.
"So could anyone do that?"
"Well, not currently. For most, especially those with lesser magic, it would weaken them for too long to actually be of use since it takes them longer to regain the energy they used."
"And you're a Vyren?" Thea asked, she'd never seen one before and was in awe at the beauty of her wings.
"Yes, you're obviously one who knows how it feels to hide too."
"What?" Thea said, trying to make sure the two were thinking of the same thing.
"You are a lupus, don't try and pretend like you're not."
"How did you know?" She was baffled, she soon became concerned as to how good her disguise was.
"I can sense it, you do have to remember I'm rather old. I'll have probably met your great great grandfather." The Guardian said with a chuckle.
"It's a pretty easy thing to forget. I often forget that to others I'm very old." She replied, also laughing. The two spent the next while talking, Thea explained the current state of The Realm and Aurora told stories of old.

A few weeks had passed since Aurora's arrival and the two had become reasonably close allies. They had spent the time designing fortifications, creating battle plans and making weapons. Deep in the archives of the Temple was a corridor that lead to Aurora's old forge. She was known for being a talented weapon smith. It's what she would have been doing if she had not had the powers of nature but then again, she'd probably be dead.

They used Thea's image as head guard of Serea to talk to the people about what they'd been working on, without mentioning Aurora. It was obviously a good approach to doing things and people seemed none the wiser to Aurora's return.

Thea also told Aurora of how her friends lost their lives. She told of how Astral had died trying to fight Vargoth. She went into his domain to try and end it once and for all, but with great demise. She went alone and never returned. Her body was never found but soldiers said they saw her fall. Days later Athus was murdered. Her life taken by a person of the town who betrayed them all, he soon found his punishment. Then days later Ophes and Destiny went to travel to Isria but weeks later someone was sent to find them, they reported back saying the two never made it to the town. They all met their ends soon after the other, in ways that could never have been predicted.

~

"My plan is working." A voice deep voice chuckled.
"The Guardian has not returned, the rest were a pleasure to end."
The demon's laugh echoed throughout the fortress.
"Now for the attacks to really start. Servent, prepare the orcs. This land will be mine."
"Yessir." The small goblin replied, terrified of it's master.

~

"Thea! Thea!" A voice yelled, running into the temple. Upon hearing the cries, Thea rushed out.
"I come bearing bad news." The man said. The two hurriedly conversed.
"So we need to rush." He finished.
"I see." Thea said, a flash of concern going over her face. Suddenly she noticed Aurora gliding over. As she moved she made no sound. The man was unaware of the figure looming behind him. She leaned down, sticking her hooded and shadowed head over his should.
"Keeping secrets are we?" She asked, her deep voice quietly speaking into his ear. He jumped away with a squeal.
"Uh, not at all!" He said.
"It's fine, I already know. I just am rather fond of making jumpy people scared." Aurora said, a hidden smirk cursing her lips.
"How do you know?" He said.
"Oh I've known since I arrived. I'm always aware of things such as this." She said, her voice emotionless.
"Well why on earth haven't you done anything!" He yelled.
"No need to get angry good sir. I've been busy preparing for your information. I've created eight different strategies of attack, three ambushing the enemies, two head on assaults and three of another kind. There is one though which I think will work." She said, her voice extremely calm.
"Which one?" Thea asked Aurora.
The man gave them each looks of pure surprise.
"Hmm. Number three, the hounds." She replied.
"Good choice ma'am." Thea said excitedly.
"Who are you anyway?" The man asked Aurora.
"That is of no concern to you." She replied, irritated by the constant questions.
"Anyway, Thea, gather everyone to the town center." Aurora instructed with a nod. Thea soon rushed off and Aurora headed back into the temple leaving the man dumbstruck by the conversation that just occurred.

~

"People of Serea." Thea began. "As you may or may not be aware, a head on attack is looming. We have roughly two hours until they are at our gates. Luckily, we are prepared. All those who can fight stay here. Those who cannot, the injured, young and parents, go into the main hall to await further instructions. Those who can use water or air magic, or both, go to the stables, you'll be met by an ally for ours who will give you further instructions. All of you, go now!"
As she finished speaking the people rushed to their places.

Thea met the people unable to fight in the main hall. She then lead them deep into the Temple. In there was a large store room with more than enough space. It seemed like a bunker of sort too. She left them there, instructing a leader to maintain order. She then rushed back to meet her group of fighters and explained the plan.

~

"Well someone's late." A voice said in the group. The group was irritated. It had been ten minutes since Thea had spoken, the ally was late. Suddenly a cloud of red materialised in front of them. The cloud dispersed and left a figure, Aurora.
"My apologies for my late coming, I was preparing something." She said.
"You? You're the ally? I ain't listening to you." A voice said from the small crowd.
"Then leave and turn your back on your people." Aurora replied, not prepared to deal with people's nonsense. The man was left speechless.
"Glad we've got that sorted. Anyway, you all know why you're here. For this group our task is simple. The plan is an ambush. We're taking advantage of their low intellect. We will be hiding in the front wall, the one between the two hills. Being in a valley gives us great advantage. We will split, since there are seven of us, three will go in one turret and four in the other. The gate will be open, they will storm in and think no one is home. Once the time is right, we will sneak on to the wall. I'll shout the code word, begin, and we'll attack with everything we've got. Since we don't want to damage the buildings only water and air magic is permitted. Use anything damaging only when necessary. Once we've given them a wave of magic I'll shout the next code, release the hounds. Then, our foot soldiers pour out of the houses. No one will be in the first houses to give the impression that no one is here. After that you can choose to stay above or jump down. And that's it."
The people nodded.
"Who will go where?" A female voice asked.
"Tis up to you. I'll be with the four, closest to the door so I can be in the middle. It'll mean I can get instructions to all."
The group then went to arm themselves. They rushed to the armoury and suited up. The other group seemed to already be in position.
"Are you not getting a weapon." One of the mages asked Aurora.
"I already have my own with me." She said, a smirk creeping out of her lips, though it could not be seen.

~

Everyone was in position, with moments to spare. The town looked completely dead. All was working well. Aurora stood by the door of the right hand turret. She heard the not so distant rumble of the approaching army. The gate stood wide, awaiting their arrival. The army stood meters away from the gate. They seemed to be taking the bait.
"Are they not here?" One said in their native tongue, Infernal. The language of the death bringers.
"Then this place is ours." Another said who seemed to be a commander of sort.

They started walking again, this time entering the town. Just as the last of the orcs entered, Aurora cast a quiet spell. The gate closed. She then gave the first signal, the mages ducked down and quickly walked on the wall, out of sight. Aurora then jumped up to her feet.
"Begin!" She cried at the top of her lungs. The rest of the mages jumped up and the battle quickly began.

The first layer of orcs were soon swept off their feet by air magic. Symbols and glyphs filled the air. Waves of electrified water tore into the small army. The air above them then started to crush down upon them, like an invisible piston. Soon the army was weakened slightly, but fighting back. The archers were giving their best attempt to take down down the mages. Soon, their attempt brought success, the first mage went down. This meant war.
"Release the hounds!" Aurora cried.
Suddenly the doors of the houses flew open and soldiers flooded out. They came from every angle. The orcs mainly were in the middle path which was extremely wide. They also held some of the smaller side paths.

"I'm going down there." Aurora yelled to the mages. She pushed her cloak back and thrust out her arms. With a flash of red, two curved, wide bladed swords materialised in her hands, one was somewhat larger than the other. She leapt up onto the wall then jumped down, doing an elegant flip as she fell. She landed with a thud, looking up with anger in her eyes. She let down her shadows and began to fight. A red, fiery aura surrounded her. Her and Thea soon reunited. They stood back to back, fighting for their hometown. Thea's long sword held a white aura. She moved with great agility, using her light magic to quicken her movements.

The people of Serea soon took back the top half of the town. Suddenly, the orcs turned up the heat. They started lighting fire to the town. The mages soon turned their attention to this. They split, half trying to calm the fire, half still fighting. Cries of anger and pain filled the air as the battle raged.

Soon, Aurora changed strategy. She jumped onto one of the houses. She then rammed the bottom of her two swords. Her red flames quickly combine the swords. The handle then became longer, turning it into a double sided glaive-like weapon. To finish it off, a chain appeared and wrapped around the weapon. This task was completed in seconds, she then jumped back down and carried on fighting.

Metal clashed metal as a battle raged. Slowly but surely, the people of Serea pushed the orcs back. The more the orcs lost, the more fire they brought. There were four mages left at this point, their main focus on taming the fire that raged through the town. This meant that the soldiers were the only ones fighting the orcs, giving them a slight disadvantaged. Aurora and Thea made up for that slightly, since they both knew magic well.

Hours had passed and the fight was over. The people of Serea had one. Thea walked around, assessing the damage. Some huts were almost dust, others untouched. She then went to Aurora.
"Thank you." She said.
"For what?" Aurora replied.
"For saving us!" She exclaimed.
"I merely helped, you should be the one to be thanked." Aurora said plainly. Her tone of voice and body language made it impossible to know she'd just gotten out of a fully fledged battle.
"I need to go know." She then said after a moment of silence.
"Okay, where do you plan to go next?" Thea asked.
"Illios, the island of trade."
"That's the one to the far north of the Swamplands, correct?"
Aurora nodded.
"Well good luck, take any supplies you need before you leave."
"I have all I need, but thank you. I greatly appreciate your hospitality. Good luck to you too, let's hope we can meet again in better circumstances." Aurora said through what sounded like a smile.
"Indeed." Thea replied, bidding Aurora farewell.

~

"How could you let this happen!" Vargoth yelled, slamming his fist on the arm of his cruel throne.
"I-I'm sorry Master. They had help from an unknown warrior." The goblin said, cowering.
"Who?"
"I do not know, they're powerful though."
"Hmm, we must crush them before they plague our work."
"Yes Master."

~

"She's back, thank the lord." A voice said.
"Let's hope she can achieve what she needs to." Another voice said.
"I think she can." The first voice replied.

~

"Where's that ally of yours?" One of the mages said, walking up to Thea.
"Oh, she left." Thea replied plainly.
"Who is she?" He asked.
"That's for you to decide."
"Is she the one from the prophecies? The red?"
"It's quite possible." Thea was making sure to give as little away about Aurora as possible, knowing for some reason or another that the Guardian wanted to keep her return quiet.
"I'm glad she's gone, don't trust her." The man said, turning and leaving.

I have decided to discontinue this story for various reasons. I have another story in the works so keep an eye out for that. Sorry beans.
