I feel that the music zone rules are too strict. I feel that the rules should be toned down slightly.

It’d be nice to see the music rules to be made less strict. There are some rules that are slightly harsh, for example, the 5 minutes maximum song length limit. A lot of songs currently in the charts are over 5 minutes, some only by a few seconds. Setting the limit to 7 would be fair, as it would allow those songs which are slightly over the current time limit, and it would align to those set for Plug.DJ (can be found here: https://mcpz.net/threads/plug-dj-rules.31518/ )

I believe we should be able to have songs with limited inappropriate words. Let's be real here, in the top charts there’s rarely a song that doesn’t swear at least once. A song with one or two swearwords is hardly inappropriate. Furthermore, discord is supposed to be for 13+. If you’re not 13, you’re breaking the rules of discord. Simple as that. Swearing once or twice, in something like a song, is not inappropriate for a 13 year old. The amount of 12. 13, 14 year olds who have swearing in their daily vocab is crazy lmao. In the discord terms and conditions, it states you must be over 13. If you are between 13 and the age of majority (17, 18, 21) you must have your parents permission. In no way does it say under 13’s are allowed. Therefore, PZ does not cater to those under 13. Although not all over 13 year olds are okay with swearing, there are those who don’t mind it (majority). Those players who are uncomfortable with swear words, should simply state so, and ask the song to be skipped. If other players in the channel do not comply, then they shall be warned. If you’re in a channel where you and your friend like the song, it has one word deemed inappropriate, i really do not see the issue. So many songs these days have swears in them

Furthermore, I believe staff can sometimes take songs out of context. This is evident when I have previously been warned for songs mentioning drug use. I was not encouraging the use of drugs… I just like the song! We’re taught in school, from a young age (year 5 UK), about the dangers of drug use, therefore, listeners should be aware that drugs are bad and not to ‘mess’ with them. Sex ed, drugs, mental health is compulsory at a lot of schools, and is newly being made into the school curriculum.

In addition, those players who are uncomfortable with swear words, should simply state so, and ask the song to be skipped. If other players in the channel do not comply, then they shall be warned. If you’re in a channel where you and your friend like the song, it has one word deemed inappropriate, i really do not see the issue. So many songs these days have swears in them, in the UK top 50, less than half the songs would be considered appropriate on pz. One or two swear words isn’t bad, like at all.

Discord suggestions should stay in #suggestions, on the discord. This suggestion has already been suggested, and sparked an argument.

Edit: You mentioned the Plug.DJ and I'll give it to you, that's a fair point. However, the Plug.DJ is used a lot less than the Music VCs in discord, so it makes sense for the limit to be longer.

I mentioned it in #suggestions but was completely shut down. Since #suggestions is a channel where it's easy for anybody to make a comment, it makes more sense to post it on the forums as it's less likely to cause an argument. I feel as though my point was taken seriously, nor thought about in the slightest.

As for the plug dj, it is true that less people use it. However not that many people use the discord music channels either. There's rarely more than 5 people in each channel at one time.

If it was "shut down" on the discord, what makes you think it'll be different?

Okay, first I would just like to say that there isn't a need to post your suggestion on both Discord and the Forums. The Quality Assurance/Community Feedback Team has two sub-teams who are in charge of reviewing the suggestions, we have a team for the Discord Suggestions, and we have a team for the Forums Suggestions. Since I'm part of both teams, I can assure you that we review every single suggestion and posting any suggestion twice will only confuse both teams and give them unnecessary extra work to do. I do understand why you might feel you'd gain more positive feedback on the forums, but our teams will review your suggestion and judge it regardless of the negative feedback it has received. Also, as a Discord Manager, I would just like to say, just because a few players (and even staff) dislike someone's suggestion, it doesn't mean that, that suggestion was shut down or denied. Only the Community Feedback Team can decide whether or not to accept or deny a suggestion.

Change the song limit to 7 minutes
I do understand why it would make sense to set the maximum limit to 7 minutes, but you have to understand that sometimes players don't want to wait 7 minutes before they hear the song of their choice. We could maybe be less strict about the length of the song, because some songs can be 5 minutes and 33 seconds long, and it'll be unfair to remove that song, but allow a song that's 5 minutes and 7 seconds long. I cannot speak for the entire staff team, but in my opinion, if a song goes over the limit, it's not the end of the world.

Allow songs with curse words in them
You're right, the majority of today's music does indeed have curse words in them. If we're banning every single song with a curse word in it, then we'd basically be banning most of the popular songs that a lot of people listen to. Like I said before, I do agree with you that we need to be a bit less strict with the music zone rules. I've seen some people (with Moderator permissions) on Plug.Dj allow people to play songs with minimal curse words in them, but if someone plays a song where the artist swears every few seconds, then they'd take action and remove the song. Maybe we could do the same thing, because I myself listen to songs that are currently against our Music Zone Rules (over the limit, includes swears etc.), however I tend to listen to those songs on YouTube. This might sound dumb, but if you're alone and want to use the Rhythm bot to listen to your music, why not switch over to YouTube, where you won't get punished for the songs you listen to? You have to understand that our staff are only human and we cannot moderate every single song, check if it's appropriate, check if the length is under the limit etc. That's why we have rules and that's why we want most of the people to follow them.

Staff take the songs out of context
I currently don't have an opinion on this suggestion.

As Etgar above me, has stated you can always switch to YouTube but there might be more people in the same music call. It would be nicer to not get warned for something you can't control, for example music with swears.

So I will be giving this +1

Completely agree, if it's a song that swears loads then obviously it shouldn't be allowed. But a few curse words isn't a big deal to majority of teens and above. As for being shut down, I personally feel as though I was because I was told I could not continue discussing the suggestion (even though I wasn't even saying anything rude?) which is why I wanted to post it on the forums too, to be able to reply to those questioning the idea with things i havent mentioned

If it was "shut down" on the discord, what makes you think it'll be different?
Most of the time those who comment on suggestions on the forums, are more mature rather than attacking those who disagree. Furthermore, it's less likely to turn into a conversation on the forums too.

It should still stay on the Discord though. It was unnecessary to suggest it here too.

I was literally told to "drop the topic" and couldn't continue talking about it.. which is why i posted it on the forums

I really think they should be less strict, so yes, I do agree with you!

You, and everyone else in the suggestions channel, was told to drop the topic because you, and everyone else in the suggestions channel, were causing an argument.

I definitely think some exceptions could be made.

Argument or not, the suggestion was valid, a manager in fact replied to this one. Now before you reply, I mean no harm :) just pointing it out. I'm going to say we should drop the topic of punishments.

Firstly, I was actually barely responding to half of it because I dropped a glass and had to clear it up. Secondly if you wish to discuss further what happened, please pm me because I don't want this thread to be locked.

Can you not rate all of my replies on this suggestion with "I Disagree", it's spamming my notifications.

THIS is why the debate got shut down on Discord. You're taking the original thread completely off topic and continuing your own arguments. You need to realise that you're the only reason we can't have civil debates like this.

As for the suggestion itself, yes, I agree rules are strict. But this shouldn't be on the forums at all. It has no affiliations with the Discord whatsoever.

This thread has gone off-topic and appears to just be causing arguments. I will be locking this thread and the QA team will go over it. In the future, please suggest things for the discord in the suggestions channel on the discord itself.
