But it will be a waste of time. Players wont leave a game on a popular server to come play the exact same game on a server thats a little more unpopular than that other server.Doesn't mean unoriginal games will hurt.

Awesome. Sounds good. This is an idea that we'll possibly be looking into in the near future in the form of Goodie Bag rewards, network levels, questing etc.
Was PZ big before Murder was released?Exactly, these don't become popular unless you already have a large following like those major networks.
I didn't say it was easy, and I don't think it is. It was a motivational tidbit like "Hey, let's keep making people smile." Of course, it isn't easy to make hits, but it would keep us going. This is a lot easier said than done, finding a hit to make is harder than you think.
It won't be a waste of time. Besides, we've all stated multiple times that the games wouldn't be exactly the same. We would, as I said, revolutionize the game so that it's our own. That would make players want to be on PZ instead of the copy/paste networks that rip each other off.But it will be a waste of time. There's a huge difference between reinventing a popular videogame mode that was being recorded on YouTube at the time as a main feature on Minecraft network which hadn't been ever done before and largely original in that sense, than to copy existing games that can be played on larger servers where you'll already have stats and a following on there. Was PZ big before Murder was released?
By now you've probably noticed that other servers also make Gmod Murder after PZ made 'Murder'. Wonder where they got the idea from.Awesome. Sounds good.

The fact is, since they made their 'Murder', they got far more players than we have. Copying a major server's game and changing it slightly won't exactly change much or increase the player toll dramatically.
In any way it's better for us to completely make a new game that would be as popular as Murder, and also that has never been done before. Even if we take a game and revolutionise it, its still the same game. It's better to completely make something new. There is a difference, I agree, but that doesn't mean we won't draw more players in by reinventing old games.
You haven't been listening to a word I've been saying, have you? We wouldn't be copying a game and changing it slightly. I've been saying over and over that we would make changes to how the game works at its core, not small features.
Another reason bigger networks are getting more players flooding in with their "new" games is that they have more games to keep players there. Murder brought a bunch of players in, like me, but we need games to keep players in. I'm personally getting bored of the same old same old on PartyZone, but I'd play Hunger Games and Skywars if they were revived and changed like I've said above.
Let's face it: People are leaving. I've actually considered leaving multiple times, but I've stayed because I care about the server and the people here. We need to be focusing on bringing new players in, definitely, but we also need to keep people here, otherwise, our numbers will go in one ear and out the other.
GMod did Murder first, so it was only original to the Minecraft community. In any way it's better for us to completely make a new game that would be as popular as Murder, and also that has never been done before. Murder wasn't done before.
We're aiming for an income of players like the income that Murder attracted.. taking games from other servers and "revolutionising them" isn't what we're aiming for. We can't just keep making games that have already been done and just adding things, because then we're only really getting the players we already have to play that game as something new. We wouldn't be attracting anyone. That's exactly the opposite of what this server is trying to do. All we need is a big, new, and completely original gametype that can have the same impact that Murder did - grabs players, and keeps them playing.
It's not a rip off, it's just the same games. Besides the amazing administrative team here is capable of coding their own UNIQUE twists to make it different from others.People won't leave these larger networks to come play rip off's of their game on a smaller network where they have less progress and less people to play it with.

It did say inferior.View attachment 5435
An imitation of something is basically making a copy of another thing / something similar. So if we make a rip-off game, we're just making a game alike another on an other server.
"Inferior." Do you really have that little faith in our staff team? You think they won't be able to make something better?View attachment 5435

That's what google thinks of the phrase 'Rip-Off'. I was only looking up the meaning -_- Of course the staff team can make something better and I'm not doubting them, all I'm saying is it's better if we make something completely original than make something that's only partly original."Inferior." Do you really have that little faith in our staff team? You think they won't be able to make something better?
^^If we stop focusing on creating original and new content, then there will be a player drop. If we make unoriginal games that are better, then we gain even more players that currently play on other servers with those games.

That's what we've been saying this whole time. There needs to be a balance, not just one or the other.
I know I'm just putting it all in one message, and explaining it in a different wayThat's what we've been saying this whole time. There needs to be a balance, not just one or the other.
We don't have the developers to be able to focus on both significantly at the same time, we're aware of the need for both and there will be some new content soon to satisfy everyone don't you worryThat's what we've been saying this whole time. There needs to be a balance, not just one or the other.

I agree completely, like take some other well-known servers for example. They have a load of unoriginal games and copy lots of games from other servers. However, this causes them to get a lot of players coming in.So, after thinking about it, I think that there should be more of an open mind to games that aren't "original."
The server wants more players. They wouldn't necessarily deter anyone. If you want to play a game, who honestly cares if it's a different server. It's fundamentally the same game with (widely) only a small amount of different exclusives/original ideas.
If getting a larger player base is a priority, then sticking (mostly, not always) to "original" ideas for game types isn't a good idea; it's counter-productive.
People can play a game somewhere else, and putting the game here invites them to come here to play it. You just need to make the game better than the competition.
That's like running an ice cream truck but excluding chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry because "nobody wants to eat something they've already had at another ice cream truck, we need to come up with our own flavours!"
Just because someone eats at another ice cream truck doesn't mean they wouldn't eat the same ice cream at yours (unless it tastes bad).
I don't understand this logic. If it's about being overall different and unique, that honestly doesn't matter imo. Want people to play? Invite people to play.
^^^I agree completely, like take Hypixel for example. They have a load of unoriginal games and copy lots of games from other servers. However, this causes them to get a lot of players coming in.
