So, after thinking about it, I think that there should be more of an open mind to games that aren't "original."
The server wants more players. They wouldn't necessarily deter anyone. If you want to play a game, who honestly cares if it's a different server. It's fundamentally the same game with (widely) only a small amount of different exclusives/original ideas.
If getting a larger player base is a priority, then sticking (mostly, not always) to "original" ideas for game types isn't a good idea; it's counter-productive.
People can play a game somewhere else, and putting the game here invites them to come here to play it. You just need to make the game better than the competition.
That's like running an ice cream truck but excluding chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry because "nobody wants to eat something they've already had at another ice cream truck, we need to come up with our own flavours!"
Just because someone eats at another ice cream truck doesn't mean they wouldn't eat the same ice cream at yours (unless it tastes bad).
I don't understand this logic. If it's about being overall different and unique, that honestly doesn't matter imo. Want people to play? Invite people to play.
