Do you want to be a songwriter? Lucky for you I'm here to show you the basics! And if you can't do music like me you're in the right place.
FIRST PART: Songwriting

  1. Okay so this is an important step. Think about what is close to you, or think of a specific theme. Mine are usually dark. Take the song I never published, "Lies." It's about the person I am portrayed as and how that person has lied to the ones they love. It has no chorus. It ends with the person dying, unable to tell the truth after all these years. That song is close to me because I'm scared that it will happen to my father, a white liar.
  2. Think of a tune. This is extremely important in the rhyming sense. It's about timing, too. In all 4 of my amateur songs, I thought of the tune as I went along. The lyrics went along well, but if I tried a different tune, everything sounded wrong. So, don't just start writing without a tune. This is just my opinion.
  3. The rhyming part can be pretty hard for some people, especially me. So of course I downloaded an app. It helped me finish my two most recent, "Chase Your Dreams" and "Lies." Though there are many apps I have not tried, I'm sure you can download different ones. If you don't have a phone/tablet/etc., either grab a dictionary, use Google, or use your mind. My mind helped me with "Used to Think" and "Lasers," my very first two. I sang "Used to Think" but hated it so I deleted the video.
  4. Once you finish those steps, read the lyrics over, and over, and over. Get someone else to read it. If you don't want someone to read it, just continue proof-reading yourself. Sing the tune, if you want you can in your head. Make sure every word goes along clearly and quickly. If they do, congratulations! You wrote your first (or second, third, etc.) song!

SECOND PART: Singing

  1. NEVER sing sitting down. Want to know what it'll sound like?
That's me making an attempt to sing. So, for most of it, I was sitting down on my chair, bent over. If you were brave enough to listen to the whole thing, you'll hear that one good, non-shaky part. That was when I was standing up. Oh, and also, I barely knew the song at that time. Pfft, I'm a moron.
  2. BREATHE THROUGH YOUR DIAPHRAGM. It seriously helps for your voice!! You are able to sing while breathing that way, too!
  3. Stand up straight! It'll help with your voice sounding stronger and more confident and you'll look strong and confident too!
  4. (For those with air hunger/shortness of breath) Found out the reason why you have air hunger. My reason is anemia. Try to get over that reason. Once you find it out, start taking the medicine to help. I take 5 pills a day: 3 iron, 2 vitamin C. (Vitamin Yes in Spanish)
  5. If you don't have a trained voice, try to keep from walking and singing. Walking and singing is why some famous artists lip sync. Other reasons are unknown. This is just what I think why they lip sync.
  6. Everyone can sing, so why can't you? With the proper training you'll be bigger than Taylor Swift!
  7. Congratulations - You can sing memes all day long now!

Thank you for taking the time to read this unhelpful guide to songwriting and singing.
