hi, i feel like typing a lot and i found this thread and now i have a reason to type. im going to respond to almost every point on here so be ready
Here are some reasons why there should be a Teamspeak:
- TeamSpeak's voice and muted chats are much better set up. There would need to be a new text channel created with each voice channel.
- TeamSpeak isn't as hard to moderate as Discord. Think about it: 50-100+ people every day having long text conversations compared to voice conversations with limited text moderation.
1. uh?? lol no. you don't need a new text channel for every voice channel, that's absurd. maybe it's a lack of voice chat experience, or just not knowing how discord works but i'd recommend downloading it to see for yourself. most servers have a dedicated text chat made for voice channels. additionally, you can obviously mute channels and other members. maybe i misinterpreted it, but yeah.
2. if you have ever moderated a discord properly, then you'll know the most useful tools on the planet. these are known as dyno, tatsumaki, and mee6. they're bots that moderate chat for you. you can filter swear words, mass prune messages, monitor each and every action a user takes, keep track of warnings, and customize them to your needs. theyre easy to set up, and make everything much easier. plus, text channels won't EVER be as active as you think. unless you literally have 30,000 people in your server, then you won't ever have to moderate chat 25/8. PZ has roughly 400 active members, and only 1/4 will join the discord. i know this from personal experience. numerous servers ive created, been staff on, and help run, work like this. maybe once in a while you'll get people who raid the server, but with the huge staff team here half full of middle schoolers and freshmen who have way too much time on their hands then they'll get to it instantly.

it’s just easier to manage (maybe not to set up but it is when you’ve got the hang of it). Although it does need money to keep it up, let’s be honest, it’s more professional looking and looks cleaner for a network. A discord would be harder because it would just be weird to talk and type in a zone that matches it (i.e. speaking in a murder zone and if you can’t speak typing in a murder zone so it’s not all over the place in the main zone).
1. bots do management, it's easier to set up, everything is straight forward. im going to guess and say you've never managed a discord or teamspeak, so you wouldn't really know how to manage it.
2. each to their own i guess, but i dont think the 2008 theme of TS3 is professional and cleaner looking when compared to discord. with categories introduced, everything looks much cleaner and far more condensed.

3. honestly dont even have an argument for that since its purely opinion based. i mean, i disagree, but /shrug.
Teamspeak doesn’t cost that much money in the eyes of PZ. Literally one elite purchase covers it.
One point is that the discord would be completely text-channel based, while not many people would use the voice channels. Teamspeak is just all around better for voice channels. If you really want a discord there’s the unofficial one.
1. okay but that one elite purchase is a decent amount of money that can pay a decent chunk of a dev's paycheck, or can buy a whole plugin, build, etc. it can benefit the server far more than you think. it's not a lot considering the thousands PZ has gained, but the server has also been tanking recently.
2. why wouldn't people use the voice channels? i don't see that much of a difference between the two. discord is a lot more text based than teamspeak, but it's also equally as voice based. i could argue that the VC aspects are better for numerous reasons, such as easy to use bots, better quality, bitrate selection, volume adjustments, no pokes (because literally nobody likes being poked 80 times in a row), and less annoying leave/join messages. the text channels make for more instant server announcements with @everyone/@here, as some people don't read the homepage at all (due to the fault of xenforo, imo).
3. some people, myself included, would
much rather have a discord that's run by the actual owners, rather than regular members. it's more professional if it's official, more reliable, and favouritism doesn't have a role. if i join an unofficial discord, i have a strong feeling i'll see a group of buddies who run it, or get priority roles/perks. even if that isn't the case, i honestly don't really care to join and find out. especially because there are multiple.
more benefits to discord:
-cooler customization
-dont need an IP to join
-can easily switch between servers
-can DM people individually
-free for server setups
-easy to use
-everyone is switching to discord
-free for mobile
okay im done bye
