What counts as a "message" on the forums? Is a message a question / report or is it replying to or creating a thread? For whatever reason, only my questions / reports have been counted on my profile page as messages.

A message counts as creating any public content essentially. This can be creating a thread, replying to a thread, creating a profile message or replying to a profile message. If the message is deleted by a Moderator, the number will go down.
