Since this is the 1st official chapter, I'm still doing it in Theo's perspective.
(I also added the teaser bc I wanted to)
I woke up in my dream. No, its not a dream. It feels real. But it must be a dream. This isnt my home. Come on, Theo. Snap out of it. Of course this is a dream. Dont be stupid. I thought. I sat up and looked around, taking in my surroundings. I was only one of the many teenagers here. I rubbed my temple, my head pounding and my stomach churning.
Suddenly, I heard a voice booming all around me. This, is your challenge. You are to complete every one of my 7 puzzles. For each one you fail, one of your fellow teammates dies. Make decisions wisely and. Always. Watch. Your. Back. You never know what’s lurking in the depths of Thrae. Good luck, though I doubt luck will do anything in your favor. Welcome, to Thrae.
Beside me, I heard someone, who I soon found out went by Fox, roar, “GOD! This is THE weirdest dream I have ever had. “ I murmured an agreement. I counted each teenager. 6 others. I attempted to stand up, but I was knocked down as the ground started to shake violently, and the voice boomed, One more thing. Work together. I will enjoy watching each of you die.
“So. I guess we should learn each others names. I’m Diana, and I think this whole thing is pretty stupid. Thrae? Dumb name.” She stated.
We went around, saying our names, Liv, Mae, Clemmie, Fox, Oli, and finally me, Theo, and we all agreed that we thought this was just a big joke. Suddenly, out of nowhere, a note spawned and descended, right to the feet of Liv. She slowly picked it up, her hands shaking just a bit. “It says… ‘Solve this riddle: When you stop and look, you can always see me. If you try to touch, you cannot feel me. I cannot move, but as you near me, I will move away from you. What am I? One more thing, your focus and strength will soon be damaged, for you have not noticed one teammate has vanished.’
And with that, the world turned black and I was spun into darkness. My head reeled and it felt as though all time and space was warping around me. When it all subsided, I was shocked and terrified at what stood before me: My worst nightmare.
