Nowhere Worth Knowing
So this suggestion is pretty straight forward. If this were implimented it would give the player the ability to toggle wether or not they can see the glow effect. It might be a command like /glow toggle. If the player had /glow toggle off, then when other players were using the glow effect it would not appear to them. This would be helpful because I know from personal experience that seeing someone with the glow effect will bring down some players' fps drastically.

this is a really good idea!!!

I do agree that this would be a good idea; however this can be solved by doing the following:
1: Change your MC version to something below 1.9. The effect
2: Haven’t actually tested this, and I don’t know if it’ll actually work, but I think if you turn off your particles you won’t see the glowing effect.

The reason why I don’t this is a good idea:
1: I don’t think it’s possible. The glowing effect uses potion effects; and it’s not like you can just turn off the effects for some players, and leave them on for others.

Other than that, I really like your creativity with this; but I’m going to have to give a -1 to this suggestion.

+1 this is a good idea

I mean, if it's possible to implement, then this is a great idea. There really isn't a way that comes to my mind instantly that disables the glow effect. I was able to check if you can disable glow effect by turning off particles and unfortunately, you are unable to. I know there is also the option for one to change their version to anything below 1.9, but there is a lot of stuff people love in the versions released beyond that version. +1 <3

I agree with @fortryde, if you don’t want to be able to see the effect just lower your version. I don’t think this is really necessary but if there is more reasons it should be implemented then I’ll reconsider. For now I’ll be voting a -1.

I will be agreeing with @fortryde and @llatekate with this. You can just choose a version lower than 1.9 if it bothers you that much. I think it isn't necessary. I will be voting a -1 at the moment, but my change my opinion once I hear more on this.

But then you wont have the new blocks. Someone might want to use 1.12 but the glowing effect is lowing there frames, and wouldnt the blocks look weird if you tried to rp in a lower version?

-1

Voting yes, I like this idea in terms of usefulness, etc.
It makes a lot of sense.

I am staying neutral until I see more of an argument from each side. I do however have a question for the don’t implement side of the opinion. Although you can switch to a lower version, Creative makes it so it’s the best in 1.12 and you wouldn’t get all the fun blocks, entities, etc. because you switch to a different version. I think it would be easier to make this command so you can enjoy the server at it’s best state and also not have to see the glow if you don’t want to, but again I am staying neutral until I see more of a valid reason for either side.

Switching versions seems like a very bad way to have a problem go away. I also was under the impression that doing /glow turns it off if its on and turns it on if its off. But i may be wrong.
