So i didn't know whether to put this here or in the stories section, So it's here :p

So I've got some tips for Non-fiction and fiction writing there's also having a 'based on' story, and I'm not a particularly good story writer but I guess these are some tips I try to stick with:

Fiction (Your own story, or something that is 'made-up')

1.
Make sure characters' names are different, and not similar, unless that's a part of the story. If you're on a forums website like this one, where you get people to make characters for the story, you're best off writing in the sign-up post "Not to make names that are similar to characters that have already been made by other people"

2.

Make a plot last longer to keep people hooked. But if it drags too long then it may bore people and make them not read the story anymore.

3.

If you're alright with it, make a "Choose your own story" story, where the people reading can choose the path. Believe it or not some people only watch roleplays or sitcoms/tv shows or read stories for the cliffhangers and what will happen next. If there's a multiple choice way that'll mean you'd keep those people until the next episode, and keep going in a continuous cycle.

4.
Cliffhangers keep people linked until the next episode, it's actually best to have a cliffhanger around the end of every episode, extreme or not, it doesn't really matter. But like said above, if you have an extreme cliffhanger it might be best you don't give the people reading a choice, since people will know that it is one of the two. But with smaller cliffhangers it's probably best you keep the choices on, but make them more "extreme".

5.
Pick a story (Or ask to see what the majority would want) theme. Asking the public/people wherever you're writing will help, this will show you what people want to see.

Non-Fiction (Something True/Real)

1.

Don't fall off the story, if it's true then it will quickly become fiction if you do, and your focus is it being a true story / real, Non-Fiction. Losing the plot is the last thing you want.

2.
Pick a story that is good to write, Mostly new stories or old, famous stories. Something that people will be interested in and you feel comfortable writing about.

3. (Optional)

You may be "elaborating" on the story, in a way that you may call it in a simpler way "explaining" it, It's best to keep these light-hearted and only a tiny scratch of your opinion in the piece of writing.

4.

Don't change character names unless they wanted to be censored and keep anonymous or their name just isn't there. You're writing on a real story, so stick the the actual names.

5.
Keep scenery the same.

6.
Keep "attitudes" A.K.A "Personalities" the same.

7.

Don't make a character younger or older than they are in the normal story. EDIT: Unless there's a flashback / 'in the future' scene.

"Based On.." Stories (A story that has a similar plot to a story already made)

1.

If it's only a small portion of the story that is linked, then it's best only putting that message at the top of that episode, "This episode has a small link to ____, you have been warned" ...You probably don't want the "you have been warned" bit on. :3

2.
Try not to make the story exactly the same. This way, people who have watched the movie/tv show or read the book will know what's gonna happen, and will stop reading. But on the other hand, if you had some parts themed to it that people who read/watched it liked, then that can really attract people.

3.

Don't keep the same characters! Have new characters with new perpectives and personalities, families, power (optional), secrets, backstories, etc. If you kept the same characters it would drag and similar scenarios to ones that might happen in your story might be easy to predict how they'd react.

4.
Starting off with these types of stories are good, because as you go on and go over the story again and again you start to think of new ways the story could've been. This helps you be more creative, and it gives you a head-start on making your own story!

Thanks for reading and hopefully you'll consider these if you make a story :3
