Murder the revamped maps: it bothers us.

i'd like to say something and get it out there for this server: the revamped maps of the classical murder maps (temple, office, mansion, italy) have been bothering me and the people i've played with for the past few months. yes, the revamped maps are incredibly gorgeous and great to look at, but we need someone on the team to recognise the sense of function more for the maps, especially with 2 maps specifically.

lately, i've been seeing that the maps have gotten larger, or on a larger scale, and yea, it's fine for some minigames, but for murder it's just too complicated for its simple concept of a great game. i've literally complained about this inside of my friend group for ages, and we've all agreed that the simple maps were the best maps.

take temple for an example, it's the map that is probably most hated now, at least for me. it's too large, and the old temple map was spacious enough to see other players, and was easier to track down somebody as the murderer compared to the revamp. on the new map, it's so easy to hide somewhere, and win the game by letting the timer run out (which is an incredibly boring way to win the game, may i add). though, something in the revamp map i do enjoy is the 'clean up' of the inside of the temple, as in the old map, it was too easy to get lost inside the temple "maze".

another example of a sad revamp of a classical map is mansion... what happened to it? the ability to be able to have a view off of the roof, and then being able to jump down off it and climb on the trees was great! and the underground tunnel system was fun too. but, just... what happened to those two features? they've been ruined, i'm sorry, but especially the roof aspect was. barricading the roof was unneccesary and kind of ruined the fun of the map. being able to not see who was under or over the trees as much was a cool feeling to have, giving the map more 'hype'. though, i will give the revamp map some love and say that the inside of the mansion is more 'cleaned up' and polished again, being a bit more spacious compared to the tight and enclosed original mansion.

both of those maps have change too much to their original, and bothers us greatly. although mansion and temple are my main focus to this 'rant', revamped office and italy are still fun! they still have the same fun vibe and passages, etc. to it, so you don't have to do much with those two-- the community still enjoys them! **note that the re-release of blackout is cool too.

basically, to any staff reading this and anyone else, i'd simply like to suggest the classical maps, mansion and temple, should be more to scale to their original. 'to be more to scale', i mean that the two maps should be more familiar to their, in my opinion, better original.

i'm open to everyone's thoughts.
 
Yeah temples been really bothering me all my friends shout at me not to vote temple because it's simply too hard to find and win as the murder or bystander, the new version of temple gives an advantage to campers to hide and never be found and it's really annoying.

The new mansion isn't even recognisable, the old original mansion was alot better and more fun.

So I understand what you mean with the campers and stuff, but I mean that’s part of murder. Hiding and running. Some maps will be harder to find people, even before the revamped maps came out. Also correct me if I’m wrong on this, but aren’t all of the revamped maps dimensions still the same as before they were revamped? They might have bigger structures and more detailing, but I don’t think the map itself was any larger. Again correct me if I’m wrong on that. Another big factor is, we can’t really change the revamped maps now. I mean the build team put so much work into revamping these wonderful maps. And if they were deleted, would just be a huge insult to all the people that had taken ages to edit and build the revamped maps. This of course is just my opinion. I feel that the maps are more than fine the way they are and should 100% stay.

Yeeee I know right, I don’t mind the new look but some of the maps have way too many easy to get to hiding posts or glitch spots that the Murder will probably never look to find you or anyon else in that case. Especially on temple...
 
I feel like they’re completely different maps. As much as I appreciate the builders effort, I don’t see the issues with some of the old maps which were revamped. Temple is almost impossible to find players on, and it’s not that fun, or atleast to me, when you can’t even find players. Mansion is basically unrecognizable, as Strawberry mentioned, and would probably be better as a separate map to the original mansion.
In all honesty, I wouldn’t care if these were changed back, seen as murder is still murder, and the maps are very attractive regardless if it’s change. It’s the same game, with a variety of different maps. There’s nothing completely wrong with them, and they are genuinely very detailed. The only one I, myself, see a genuine problem with, is temple. As much as it’s a beautiful map, it’s almost impossible to find players as murder. Even as a bystander it’s terribly hard to find the other players. I know maps vary when it comes to hiding spots and all that, but it’s literally almost impossible. For example, I played a game on the revamped, with 14 people in it. I saw two people during that whole game and only 3 people were killed. And when there is less players it’s even harder. You basically need 5 minutes to explore the whole map, to find others who are also constantly moving.

For the maps, excluding temple, to be reverted back, I will remain neutral.
But I will agree either to revert Temple or simplify it slightly.

Some builders didn’t get the memo when building Mansion and Temple that the idea was to revamp the current maps rather than completely redo them - which is what has happened.

I do get ur complaint about size though, but i can't comment on it getting fixed soon. Cuz we're mostly off work for Tests and stuff. Sorry you feel this way.

hello, thank you for your feedback. i too agree with some points you make. we are already working on making temple smaller. ill have a chat with the Q-A team and build team about mansion once our builders are back from doing their exams to see what needs to be changed about mansion if at all.

It's beautiful bb I'm just SAYIN' that we maybe went overboard ;) I actually much prefer it looks wise but gameplay wise could be fixed up.
 
Yeah I can see where you're coming from with Mansion and Temple revamps being a much larger scale; which I agree does have a negative effect on gameplay. Seeing potentially some areas being blocked off to make it smaller and the barriers on the roof being removed would be a nice change.

Also just to clear up being told to make a revamp of something doesn't mean to make something with the exact same layout; especially if you're not given the original map to work with and weren't told otherwise by anyone. Don't try and put the blame solely onto the builders as you didn't specify anything was wrong at the time and said they were fine. Not hating just annoyed with how it sounds like you're throwing the builders under the bus

when i talked about the scale, i meant the scale of the actual structures, not the actual map dimensions itself (sorry for not clearing that up, aha!!). i suggested to change them, not delete them but i do understand what you mean as well though. thank you for your opinion !!
