The rest of the dudes are me

I wake up and go to my phone. I check Instagram. Nothing new, celebrities getting married to other celebrities and their former partner is raging. It's November 12. I put on a pair of ripped jeans and a hoodie. Same old, same old. I pack my bag and make sure I have enough pages for my math notebook because I know that I'm going to fill out 50 pages in just notes. I get ready and start walking to school. I pass the school bus and the loud and obnoxious kids are waving at me. I don't know who they are and they probably don't know me. I don't wave back. "Same old, same old," I keep thinking to myself. I get to Loniville High pretty early so I get out my laptop and start checking up on things. I check my Facebook page and I got 3 new friends. I have no idea who they are. I don't normally like social media but it's way too easy to get caught up in and then there you go, you're addicted. I check Insta and I see what the stereotypes for males are this time of the year. My stupid school always posts these stupid "Male Stereotypes" video on Facebook. My school is trying too hard to get into social media. I meet up with my friend Fox and Jason. I don't see Hayden anywhere though. The school always picks a kid for their stereotypes video and Hayden was picked for it. I guess he's no longer friends with us. It's not like it's never happened to me though because I've had a lot of friends. "Hey Fox anything new in Boreville High?" I say to Fox putting away my laptop. "Well nothing really, I mean you knew that but you asked anyways... But never mind. Have you seen Julia? She posted this stupid thing and even the school likes it. Like what has our society turned into? Help me Hajun!" Fox says and he leans on me. He's surprisingly light but I don't blame him. In high school people are always shaming you based on your body. My first period is homeroom and I walk over. My teacher waves to me, says hi and even says I have the perfect attendance. The second she starts roll call she says, "Oh my is Hajun not here? His attendance is very poor." I raise my hand and say, "I'm here." She says she's sorry and I don't forgive her. I try to ignore everything until it's time for science and I'm partners with this girl named Lauryn Fields. She's ok but, she's kind of the people everyone looks up to and everyone thinks she's like Queen of high school. Even the teachers treat her like royalty. Her family is pretty rich though so I can't judge her. In my opinion I'm ok with science but I'm no Edison. Lauryn isn't really paying attention so I end up doing most of the work. She only talks to me once when I say, "I don't think you're supposed to be using your phone in class." I say kindly, I don't want her to cause a scene but I don't know how she acts. I guess I've only had an image on her in my mind that I was completely shocked when she answered. "Ohmygosh! I'm sorry. I was caught up in social media. Have you heard about our new school 'law'? The girls need to have mandatory pieces of gum with them so their breath doesn't smell bad. They didn't even issue it for the boys! I hate this school so much." I'm genuinely shocked. She keeps going on her phone and I start to talk to her a little. I'm mostly talking about the laws they do for boys and she's so shocked. We keep talking and pretending to do our work until the bell rings and I head off to social studies. She catches me on the way out. "Hey Hajun! I loved talking to you! Maybe we can do it again? Here's my phone number." She gives me a little slip of paper that has a bunch of numbers scrawled on it. I smile and say, "Yeah of course. See you soon and I hope we don't fail science!" She smiles at that and walks away. I meet up with Fox, Jason and Nimhe. Nimhe Mordare is a very cool girl. She has the sense of humor that we do but she knows when to tell us if we've crossed the line. I've always suspected that Fox had a little crush on Nimhe but whenever I bring it up he scoffs at it and walks away. Nimhe is in the same class as me and we start talking about whatever. She's going on and on about the gum rule for girls. "Seriously Hajun! I don't get it. Our school is traveling back in time. Soon they're going to make all the girls wash all of the men's clothes and we're going to have to make food. But if we're doing that at least the men are going to have to hunt." At that, she laughs. I ask her what's funny and she says she was laughing about trying to see me try to catch and fish and the fish ate me. I give her a dirty look and walk ahead of her. I can hear her saying, "Oh come on Hajun! It was just a joke. She catches up with me and screams, "Breaking news: Hajun got eaten by a fish!" She runs away. I scream, "I'm going to the same class as you!" But she doesn't hear me. I walk in social studies class and she is getting lectured about whatever by our student teacher Mr. Marcus. This kid Kyle fills me in on it. "She was running in screaming something I won't repeat and said 'I swear to it Hajun!' Then she crashed into Mr. Marcus. He was flustered. It was so funny. It was like a Cat and Mouse thing, his tie went spinning all around his neck." I laugh at that and say "Thank you" to Kyle and go to my seat. This girl named Adeline is sitting next to me. She doesn't talk much but she's writing a lot of things down in her notebook. I can tell by her scuffed up shoes that she must've had them for years. But I stop myself, I don't want to assume things. Maybe she likes her shoes that way. I stop staring at her and try to concentrate but I can only hear the clicking sound of someone's nails up against a phone screen. I recognized him immediately. Hugo Dullard Lindor. He is the only one in our school who is openly gay (that I know of). I don't hate him for that though. If I did I might as well have killed myself. I hate him because he's always on his stupid phone that he thinks is (in his words), "Stupid cool man!" I glance over his shoulder and I see him writing to Hayden, "Oh hey dude congrats on the stereotype thing. It doesn't make you cool. It just makes you 'popular' but you're not there yet. Go back to where you came from but I bet that place will reject you. Just because the school staff likes you doesn't mean we all have to." I'm so annoyed with him. I've known Hayden for 5 years. I decide to let it go. There's nothing I can do. All I can wait for is math class. It's my last period though. Our school is super weird. We have 8 periods, so yay for me. I am partially awake for history and english. I go to lunch and unpack my lunch. I swear I'm the only 14 year old that I know who's mom still insists on packing them lunch. It's my freshman year of high school but she keeps thinking it's middle school. Lunch is exactly the same. I sit at my circle table with Fox and Jason on the sides of me, Nimhe in front of me and Hayden somewhere around there. We always have 1 extra spot but no one sits there. Lauryn from science class just randomly sits there. "Hey Hajun! Is this seat taken? My friends are acting like complete jerks, more than usual, and I couldn't take it so here I am. I look at her and I'm astonished. Fox nudges me and I say, "What? Um yeah I guess make yourself at home." Nimhe laughs at that and I shoot her a glance and shut her up. Lauryn is just casually eating her pizza. I almost gag and she pulls out a hair from it. "What the heck? This is disgusting!" Lauryn says and throws it into the trash can. She's about 3ft away from the trashcan and she makes it in. I'm surprised by that because I know that I would've had no chance. I have gym which is ok. As long as we're not doing basketball I'm pretty much fine with anything. I'm a decent runner, not the fastest nor the slowest. I have Jason and Adeline in my class. I normally go over the Jason but I walk over the Adeline and say a quick, "Hey you're in my social studies class and I just wanted to say hey." "Oh um hey yeah I saw you looking over Hugo's shoulder and I admire you for that so um good job?" She says and she pats me on the back very awkwardly. I smile and walk away. We're playing a weird version of baseball so it's a good gym class. I try to stay out of the way because my team hates me but I try to make the best out of it. My last period is finally here. All bow for the all mighty MATH! -Trumpet fanfare in the background- We start doing some Algebra and it's so easy. I am put in an advanced class for math but it doesn't start until January. After Algebra we start to do some Geometry stuff. This stuff is really easy. I hear the same clicking sound that I heard in social studies from (you guessed it) Hugo Lindor's phone. He's texting Hayden again saying, "Go back to your village troll! Better yet go hide under a bridge! That's the only place where they'll accept you. Go and do yourself a favor and go die." I've had enough of this. Today has been a normal day, I try to keep it what way but when people are idiots you gotta do what you gotta do. If I didn't do what I've done then it would've been a normal day. I wait until we get out of class. I ask Hugo if he knows where the bathrooms are and he says he'll show me. As we're walking down the hall I punch in right in the face. My hand hurts but I'm happy. I punch him in the same spot and someone sees it. A teacher grabs me and throws me into the waiting room in the principal's office. "Hajun please step into my office."
