Long time no see! It's been a while but hopefully to make up for my absence I have written a lil' story that's meant to be homework. Hope you like!
I shouldn't have done it but I still did. Because of this one tiny insignificant mistake, I should be dead. Except here when you make a mistake, it isn't an instant death, they like to run you down. A game of sorts. Of course, no one has ever been fit to survive this game. But it doesn't mean I won't at least try. This is me trying.
The lush rainforest which I've always loved surrounds me. I've known it to be my haven, for all I know it could become my demise. My feet pound heavily on the grassy terrain, I hear the shouts of my pursuers. The grass is wet and slick against my feet, the smell of dirt and mud feels my nostrils as I run through the green landscape. Only small pockets of light pushing through the heavy leaves guide me. Running through the rainforest reminds me of my training, but then the sound of bullets zooming past me wakes me from the daydream.
Bullets cut through the tough bark, trying to reach me. Instead of turning round, I speed up in hopes of losing them. But of course, the predators always find their prey. I hear a shout:
'Over there! She's over there! Shoot her down!'
I pump my arms harder and harder, bullets zip past me again, I feel myself slowing down and the voices gaining. I hear a gun fire and I know I can't avoid it. I turn my head, I can't see the bullet but I know it's coming.
I shouldn't have done it but I still did. I made a mistake that will cost my life. I regret it but then I also don't. It may kill me but it also made me feel alive. Maybe it wasn't a mistake, maybe it was. It's too late now anyway. The guns are coming and they are coming fast. The forest that I've loved my whole life with its greenery and wildlife will be known as my place of death. My legs are screaming at me to stop, my heart is beating uncontrollably. I thought I could escape, I thought I could survive, but instead I will die like the rest. The bullet is coming, faster and faster. Unable to run or to fight. I take my last breath just as the bullet hits.
THE MISTAKE
