Forgive me for the late post! I was and still am super sick. Last Tuesday, I had a few vaccine shots. Turns out I had an allergic reaction to one of them, so now I'm here, sick as fudge. If this appears short, I'm sorry, I'll try and do better when I'm feeling better. But, for now, enjoy!
-----
I quickly burst awake only to see myself floating in a dark and endless void, which seemed oddly familiar. I tried to remember what happened, but any attempt to come up with any thought was hopeless. Knowing that there was nothing I could be able to do here, I just floated there, looking at what I thought was up.-----
After what I thought was a few minutes, a speck of light appeared in the corner of my eye. I slowly turned my head towards the bright dot, and I realized it was getting bigger. I was starting to remember what happened. Then, something in my mind clicked. I knew what this was: it was the void where I go unconscious. I knew this because I remembered something from my past.
I was 9 years old. I was riding my bike at around 20 miles per hour, which for me was super fast. My friends were yelling at me, "Alvin! Stop!" But I didn't listen. I kept going. Soon enough, as I tried to head down Diamond Avenue, I wobbled a bit and ended up in the middle of the road, where I got hit by a car, getting knocked out. Then, I woke up in this place.
The dot was getting bigger and brighter, and I closed my eyes as I entered the white light and finally woke up in the real world.
I slowly opened my eyes, but regretted it the first second I did. The sun was at its highest point, and I was staring right at it. I knew I would never be able to see this way, so I decided to change directions. I collected all of my strength and rolled over, earning a screech of pure pain from my mouth as I did so. I didn't realize how bad my muscles ached until now. I had no idea if I could even stand up. But, knowing I never back down to a challenge, I decided to test it.
I rolled over to face the ground and used my hands to push the rest of my body upwards, trying hard not to notice the nearly unbearable pain that shot through my entire body. After a few minutes of pushing, I finally stood up. The painful feeling was somewhat gone, but I could still feel some of it lingering in my body, mostly my legs. I took a step forward, which made me wince. The pain was still there, ready to take me out when it needed to. But I managed to take control over my body, and after a few hours, I was finally able to walk without suffering. I also took a look around me. All of PartyZone was devastated. The mini-game titles were laying broken on the hard podzol ground, and the main hub had looked like someone painted everything a duller shade. It was hard to believe, but that's what I saw, and I knew it was real.
How had this Halloween gone so wrong?
I pushed that thought away, not wanting to struggle over finding an answer, and kept trekking through the lobby. Suddenly, my mind snapped. I fell unconscious in the cave, so how did I get in the main hub? I then remembered the blurry faces of Snowy and B00m. Where were they? I began to walk around, searching through the rubble that the monsters left behind, until I came to a pile of upturned gravel and spotted something orange and black beneath it.
It was a hand.
I instantly sprinted over and used most of my energy to shove the gravel off of the player. When I finally took the last bit of gravel and threw it aside, I gasped in horror as I looked at the player before me.
It was Akita!
Is she...? I thought in terror. There's only one way to find out. I pressed my hand on Akita's chest and felt a faint heartbeat.
Holy Notch, she was alive.
Suddenly, Akita started coughing, which scared me half to death. I slipped my hand into my pockets and dug them out, trying to find something that would help her. I found a potion of healing, which was pure luck. How did that get there? It didn't matter now, so I just put the bottle to Akita's mouth and the shiny, pink liquid began to flow into her mouth. A bright, pink aura enveloped her for a moment before her eyes snapped open. That was fast.
Akita panted and looked around. Finally, our eyes met. "Alvin?" she gasped. I smiled. "The one and only," I replied. We both got up and her arms were suddenly place around my neck. "Thank you so much!" she said.
When Akita disconnected from me, I replied, "Don't thank me yet. This isn't over." I knew those mobs were coming back. A flicker of fright flashed in Akita's eyes, but she showed no sign of backing out. "So, what do we do now?" she asked. "We have to find the others," I replied. "We'll be stronger in groups." Akita simply nodded, and we turned and headed towards the Murder area, looking for more survivors.
