Dear Dr Mark Wilson,

My name is Karen Hart, corporal for the Deep Shade Society. We are an undercover team, created by the government. It was originally a branch of Homeland Security, but we disbanded after President Kane came into office.

This has happened because of our recent business. For over a year, we have been investigating in the terrorist group known as Pythos. We believe they have infiltrated the government, and President Kane is a member of Pythos.

We had dispersed 9 agents to investigate. 3 agents, named Alfred Feather, Echo Thorn & Marianne Fuerte were captured trying to break into the FBI branch in New York and set to prison.

Another 3 agents are currently on the run in the Great Basin desert, on the same mission with Feather, Thorn and Fuerte. These agents on the run are Alaina Riso, Charlotte Willdelfa and Floyd Powell.

The last 3 agents are undercover in the White House. Alex Silver and Sayden Empire are working in the White House, with technological support (Katelyn Diaz).

Sincerely,

Karen Hart.
The tyres screeched across the desert floor as the truck speeded up. In the driver’s seat was a girl with big grey eyes and blonde hair flowing to her shoulders. She was wearing a dirty grey shirt, brown trousers and tattered boots.

“Come on Alaina! Speed up!” shouted a boy from the trailer. His clothes were also dirty, wearing white Nike trainers, navy trousers and a grey shirt. He had a quiff of copper coloured hair, jade eyes, pale skin, tons of freckles, and was about six foot four.

“I’m going as fast as possible, Floyd,” Alaina calmly replied. The girl in the passenger seat stuck her head out of the smashed window. They were gaining on them. They had long blonde hair, blue eyes, and white sunglasses over their eyes. They wore a blue dress and long brown boots up to their knees.

“Uh guys…” Charlotte said, “they’re gaining! Maybe stop arguing!”

“Floyd! Get the freaking gun out!” screamed Alaina quickly. Floyd pulled out a big black assault rifle with a scope attached to the top. He loaded in the ammo swiftly and aimed it.

He shot. A miss, but he hit the passenger.

“Damn it!” he shouted over the roar of engines. He took a random shot at the tyre and hit it, the vehicle slowing down and skidding. It was a government vehicle, sent to bring them in.

Floyd pulled out a black oval sort of thing. A grenade. The pin was removed, and then he threw it.

A mass of red and orange and yellow engulfed the enemy vehicle, sending fire launching through the air. Sweat draped his face. He put the gun down and simply sat as they raced away.

“Get up inmates! Get up!” wildly shouted the guard as he smashed his baton against the bars of the metal cells.

In one of the cells were 3 people. There were two bunk beds, but one had a sink below the top bed. On the top bed was a boy with fair skin, green eyes, and long brown hair. He had exceptionally clean teeth for some reason. Next to his bed was him, not wearing an orange jumpsuit, but a white shirt, with his arm around a girl in a red dress with long ginger hair. His sister.

Alfie was still asleep, but the two others weren’t. On the top bed of the other bunk bed, was a girl: Echo Thorn. She had long brown hair, grey eyes and pale skin, standing at 5’10. She was reading a book: David Copperfield by Charles Dickens. Echo was about halfway through.

Underneath Echo was another girl who was about 5’2, with tanned skin and dimples. She had dark brown hair, the same shade as her hair, which was in a braid down to her back. She had a blue pencil and was drawing on a notepad. Marianne Fuerte.

When the guard got to them, Alfie jumped awake and crawled out of bed. They were all wearing the same jumpsuit. Marianne was first out of the door, but was stopped by 3 people. One was a burly man, about 6’1, an inch taller than Alfie. Another person was a woman with black hair and tired eyes, with a fair build. The last person, in the middle, was a guy holding a knife. He was the shortest, but had a scar across his face.

“You put me in here…” said the man between the two others, “now you will pay.” He advanced, along with the two others.

Suddenly, from nowhere, a leg hit the guy with knife square in the chest, flinging him back. A crowd had already gathered. Echo put her leg down and walked forward, along with Alfie, who blocked a punch from the burly man and punched him in the knees.

The woman jumped at Marianne, but Echo grabbed her, flipping her over to the cold ground.

Alfie blocked the guy with the scar’s knife, before grabbing it from his hand and elbowing him in the face.

“Thanks for the knife,” he told the gang, before walking off with Echo and Marianne.

A car pulled into the driveway, along with another, of the White House. One was more gleaming and shiny, a black Audi. The other was a Shelby Cobra, in red. Out of the Cobra came a man with short black hair, blue eyes, pale skin and a fake moustache on their face. They wore a grey shirt, a red jacket, black trousers and black shoes.

“Katelyn, why do I have to be the janitor? I still can’t figure it out,” asked Sayden Empire to the watch on his wrist, which was implanted with a communication chip.

Katelyn Diaz simply replied through his earpiece: “Cause you look better in a moustache than Alex.” Katelyn snickered, and so did Alex.

Alex got out from his Audi, wearing a blue suit and grey shoes. He was about 5’10, 2 inches taller than Sayden, with pale skin, blonde hair with a fringe going to the right, and two tattoos: a rose on the back of his hand, a snake on his collarbone. His eyes were grey.

“Suck it Sayden,” Alex said into the watch, before walking inside the White House.

Almost 120 miles away, in the Deep Shade main base, was Katelyn Diaz, the technician, hacker and recon expert. She sat in front a screen that was below another screen. Tilted diagonally were two more screens, same for the other side. They all glowed blue.

She was typing on a keyboard, making quiet sounds. She had ginger hair, tan skin, green eyes, and wore a black jacket, trousers and boots, talking into a microphone coming from her headphones.

Alex was disguised as the assistant to President Kane, and Sayden was the janitor. Alex walked down the hallway to Kane’s office, passing Sayden by. He knocked on the door, and heard Kane’s voice.

“Come in,” said Kane, and Alex opened the door.

“Okay sir, you’ve got a meeting at 11:30 with the Chief of Homeland Security until 12:00, then 4 more meetings in the afternoon,” Alex told him blankly.

Down the hallway, Sayden was dusting the table. He heard Diaz’s voice in his hear.

“Y’know Sayden, you’re not a very friendly janitor… talk to people!” she laughed.

“If you haven’t noticed, Kate, I’m not a janitor,” he replied.

“Touche`,” Kate said back. They both laughed and got back to work.
The prison canteen was loud, people shouting over each other as they stuffed food into their mouths. Mari, Echo and Alfie sat at their table, quiet. Mari was slowly eating, and Echo was just poking their food. Alfie chomped down a mouthful at a time.

Mari’s head turned to see Alfie put a huge mound of porridge into his mouth.

“That’s disgusting, Alfie,” she told him, putting some porridge in her mouth. Echo looked up and rolled her eyes.

“Exercise makes me hungry,” he said, before stuffing more porridge into his mouth, “I’m getting myself full.”

“Alfie, we’ve got figure out a way to break out of here, before Kane starts his operation,” Echo finally said, her eyes not bothering to look up.

About 30 minutes later, Alfie was already outside in the yard. He was lifting weights, pretty heavy ones at that. Echo had grabbed some pipe on the side of the building and was hanging upside down from it. Marianne was reading, while also lifting a weight in their other hand.

A guy, about 6 foot walked up to Marianne and Alfie.

“Gimme those weights,” he announced, his voice low.

“Suck it up Tommy,” Alfie replied, “and I’ll see you in hell.” The guy walked away, his knuckles white.

“You know it’s Visiting Day tomorrow,” Echo said.

“You got any visitors?” questioned Alfie to Marianne.

“Yes I do. Because, unlike you, I have friends that aren’t workmates,” Marianne snapped as Alfie looked down, a sad look on his face.

“Alfie, who was that girl on the picture on the side of your bed?” asked Echo, “was she your friend?”

“No, she was my sister,” he replied, “she died in a car crash in Rome.”

“Sad,” Marianne told him, “but, we best get back to work.”

Sayden and Alex walked across the damp pavement at about 11:00pm. They had finished work earlier and were heading to the Deep Shade base. They had drove 120 miles east of the White House.

Sayden’s wallet fell from his pocket, and went to pick it up, when two boys, about 19 years old, walked up to him. One had a pocket knife in his hand, the other one with a pistol.

“Hand over your wallets,” they said in unison.

Sayden looked at Alex and they both nodded.

“No,” Alex told them, before picking Sayden’s wallet up and giving it to him. Both teens advanced, but they were met with a shock.

Sayden jumped, kicking out with his legs, throwing the guy with the gun into a wall, before flipping and landing, feet together.

The guy with the knife lunged at Alex, but he swiftly jumped around him and grabbed his collar, smashing him on the crisp ground.

Bullets fired from the man’s gun, but Alex moved out of the way, a shop window shattering.

Alex sprinted at the guy with the gun, before sliding and kicking his legs, as Sayden smashed the knife guy’s head into a bin, knocking him cold.

As the gunman fell, Alex pushed him forward, hitting his head on the wall. Unconscious as well.

Alex and Sayden strode away, their hands in their pockets.

The truck rattled along for several miles after the attempted strike. Dark yellow sands sprayed in the air, before descending. Alaina, Floyd and Charlotte were all tired, their clothes ruined, their bellies almost empty.

Charlotte stared out the window, her eyes heavy, but she kept smiling. Alaina looked up and her eyes widened.

“We’re here!” she yelled back. It was a concrete building, lined with copper and steel, belonging to Pythos. Their symbol, a Snake wrapped around a golden circle, was proudly

displayed on an octagonal stone plate above the door.

They all got out, stretching themselves, and grabbing their stuff. Floyd grabbed the assault rifle from the encounter, and he put a pistol in his holster. Alaina took a shotgun and an M9.

Charlotte got into the back of the truck and set up her laptop. She always volunteered for tech duty, as she knew she would fumble with a gun and get shot.

However, everyone always said she was the smartest girl in America. Even though she knew it wasn’t true, she still saw herself as pretty smart. Because it’s nice to appreciate yourself for something.

A black sphere she had in her pocket but was taken out, whirred to life. The halo-like circle on the top of it had two miniscule helicopter blades, and the drone flew off, surveying the building.

She put on her headphones and spoke into the microphone.

“Visual in 5, 4, 3, 2, 1,” Charlotte said, as she pressed a button and the screen split into 3 different camera views. One was Alaina, Two was Floyd and Three was the drone.

“Okay everyone, let’s break in,” she squealed excitedly.
