Story of our Souls
Soulmates
Are they real?
Are they just our fantasy?
Well, in the normal old world, perhaps.
But here, in this not so normal world,
Our lives are dictated by them.
We are but normal things as children:
Playing, laughing, living.
At twenty, everything just
Stops.
Our age stays the same,
Never to change.
Until we meet
The one.
It's an ideal life,
But not for everyone.
Some of us just stop and wait.
Wait for the person who will never come.
Others will try and live forever,
But age anyway.
Some will kill their lovers,
Just to stay alive.
This is the story of our souls.
Because it is what shapes us,
And it is what controls us.
We are enslaved by our souls.
Not so romantic now,
Is it?
Are they real?
Are they just our fantasy?
Well, in the normal old world, perhaps.
But here, in this not so normal world,
Our lives are dictated by them.
We are but normal things as children:
Playing, laughing, living.
At twenty, everything just

And it is what controls us.

Not so romantic now,

Natasha
That's who we'll start with.
With a courageous heart
But a crueler mind
She fits perfectly for this role
She kills to live
Kills for immortality
All those lovers
They are all gone
She's lived for centuries
So long she's lost count
A bold woman who always kills
Because she has no love
For a lover
But secretly she does
That's what a soulmate is
Someone apart of her soul
She kills her soul
Every generation
Because all she wants
Is to live
That's who we'll start with.

Tobias
That's who is next.
In a few months,
He'll meet that fateful age.
He's nervous
Like we'd all be.
Unsure what sort of life
He will live.
Grow old with his love?
Kill his lovers for immortality?
Never meet his love and just keep
Living?
Questions like this fill everyone's minds.
No one knows.
Because we don't have a choice.
But of course the human race
Wants that choice.
Technology is growing,
It's hunting for lovers,
And Tobias is hunting too.
Before he even gets to stop
He's already moving.
That's when the fateful age
Hits.
Everything slows,
Quite literally as well.
Everyone experiences it differently.
But they all know,
That they won't start.
Not for a while anyway.
'Immortal'
He gasps out,
Collapsing to the ground.
A small hand outstretches in front
Of him.
Above is a girl,
Obviously she has surpassed twenty.
For all he knows,
She could be thousands of years old.
Instead, she looks so young,
It hurts
That's who is next.

Laura
That's her name.
A small smile is framed
upon her face
As she helps up Tobias
'Welcome to immortality,'
She says,
The smile
Fading
'It sucks, if you're
Like me.'
What she says
Is true.
She's been alive
For hundreds
And hundreds
Of years.
She laughs it
Off.
And says,
'I don't
need love,
I can live
without
It.'
But of course
It's a lie.
Living without
it,
Means living
alone.
No one can
stand that.
The loneliness
Eats us all up
And spits out
An unloving husk
That was once
Human.
That's her name.
