New Gametype Star Games

Idea
This game would be a medium-ish length game with a maximum of 5 minutes, if that’s too long it could definitely be lowered to 3 minutes. It would have a maximum of 12 players and a minimum of 6 players.

The game would have two teams- a minimum of three on each. Two players, one on each team, will have a “star” which they must keep to themselves. The goal is for players to guess which member on the team has this star, and steal it from them. Another two players, one on each team, will have a “wand” which they must use to steal this star by tapping the player they believe have the star, once. When the player receives the star, if/when they’ve guessed correctly, the whole team will receive a 20 second power up- such as invisibility, jumpboost or speed. They must run to the opposite teams base and place this star on a “pedestal” which will end the game with a winner.

What do the players without a wand or star do? These are the protecters. When the player on the opposing team gets the star, the people without the star ( the wand bearer may not tap the person as their wand “doesn’t have that ability” ) are able to tap the person who has stolen the star to get their star back for the team. The wand-bearer can also double tap a team mate to pass the opposing teams star on.

What happens if the player with the wand taps the wrong person/the person without the star? The wand bearer will freeze for 15 seconds and be unable to move.

If no one gets the star to the opposing teams base at the end of the game, the last team to have to opposing teams star are the winners.

Simplify
I suppose this may be rather confusing to a few players so let me simplify it. This little section may seem a bit pointless as it’s repeating information, especially if you already understand it, but it’s just in case the first explenation confuses people slightly, as it’s relatively long and may come across as unordered in some parts.

Wizard - this is the person who has a special wand which has the ability to take the other teams star.

Protecters - players without the star or the wand.

One person from each team has a star, and another person from each team has a wand. The aim is for the teams is to guess who has the star on the rival team and must attempt to “steal” the star and place it on a pedestal of the opposing team to win the game. Protecters may take back their star from the player on the opposite team whose stolen their star before they reach the pedestal or they can have the star passed onto them and be the player to place the star on the pedestal, by having the wizard pass the star of the opposing team on to them, if they must, by double tapping them with the star.

If the wizard taps the wrong person/a person without the star, they will freeze for 15 seconds. If they tap the correct person, they will receive a 20 second random power-up for their entire team and must run to the other teams base to place the star on the pedestal. The protecters can tap this person before they reach the pedestal to retrieve their star.

Extra Information
• To place the star on the pedestal, you will click a beacon which will explode into an end crystal- for the dramatics. If this is impossible to implement or would cause immense amount of lag- simply just place it on a beacon and the beacon will just be activated.

• Nether Star would act as the star

• Enchanted renamed stick would act as the wand.

• Players will have the same skin as one another and their tag will be the name of their team. ( Basically in place of the tag above your head, that says your username, their username will be replaced by their team name. )

Pros
• A new possible arcade game to attract players to the area.

• Something new and slightly different compared to some games in other networks.

• I believe this isn’t on any other network, as I made it from my mind ages ago- but the thread became a lack of interest- though it has a few similarities to existing games. ( Capture the flag probably shares a lot of qualities with this game. )

• A new arcade game for the future to give players more options rather than just “ditto” and whatever else is there right now. ( This is relatively similar to the first pro- oops! )

Cons
• Being frozen might be boring
> This is an unfixable con- as not everyone will get bored and others will deal with it. If it gets out of hand and players complain about the time, it can be easily lowered to a more suitable time.

• People can randomly tap each other.
> This happens in murder with random shooting and can easily be reported to a moderator or to any staff member via forums if it gets out of hand. Players who do this will be dealt with accordingly.

• Possibilities of lag.
> Unfortunately you can’t exactly fix this and it’ll happen no matter what, but lag rates can be lowered by removing unnecessary lag-causing features and putting in a substitute.

• People could cross team.
> Again, as with random shooting, it can be reported and will be dealt with accordingly.

Kits
Possibly for more excitement there could be kits that could give temporary advantages to players who buy them. These are really just from the top of my head.

Speedy Gonzalez - At the start of the game you receive a 30 second speed II.
> Cost - around 400 coins.
>> Upgrade it with 500 coins to Speed III.

Hopper - Exact same idea/price as Speedy Gonzalez except with jumpboost.

Invisibility Cloak - This would give you 25 seconds of invisibility at the start of the game.
> Cost - This perk would be around 700 coins.

Unfreeze - this perk would shorten your freeze time by 5 seconds- making it 10 seconds.
> Cost - Possibly around 600 coins.

• Mochhi Suggested - Lower time limit of 30 second freeze to 15 seconds and remove the “Wizadry!” Kit.

• My suggestion/edit - Added “Unfreeze” kit.

• The2GoldenSpoons suggested - Players will have the same skin as one another and their team name as their tag.

I know this could potentially be a new gametype, not just an arcade game, but I feel this would do better as an arcade game and could possibly attract more players to the area.

Overall, this seems interesting and could possibly bring in quite a few players!

I do think that the time that you can be frozen should be brought down to 15 seconds at most. 30 seconds is a very long time to be sitting and doing nothing, waiting to be unfrozen. Players would get bored and may even leave the game (this isn't certain, but it's a possibility).

I also don't like the Wizardry perk. It isn't fair to other players who want to be the wizard but don't want to use 1,000+ coins to get it. I think that there should be randomized chances of who will be the wizard (similar to who will be the murderer and detective in Murder).

Aside from those two factors, I really like this idea. I would play this if it ever does get released!

Yeah I was considering that when I suggested those two factors, but wasn’t too sure. You bring two very great points. I’ll definitely adjust this. Thanks for the feedback!
 
Really would love to see this, the game sounds very interesting and fun to play. Besides, the cons and pros are equal and I'm sure there will be a way to reduce the cons making it more fun to play!

Moving on to my third question, will the players on each team be forced to be in a set skin, with a scrambled name so it makes it slightly harder for the wand dude (meaning if they get it wrong, they can’t use a process of elimination to figure out who has the star) or will skins and names stay as the player has them.

Map sizing would be up to builders/developers, depending on what they’d think best suit the game style. In my head, it’d be a bit bigger than freeze tag.

The game would be five minutes, so freeze time doesn’t take as much up. It was suggested it’d be cut down to three of it was too long. Anyway- if it came to that it’s still part of the game, as with freeze tag. You freeze for a good few seconds. It’s a part of gameplay. It’s one of the features going in and doesn’t impact the whole gameplay. Plus there’s a perk to cut your time down a bit- if it really bothers you.

I mean this would be kinda interesting. I like it. I assume you’re asking for players to have the same skin and a tag with mash up of words? This would be a bit hard on the wizards though. Even without that feature- they still have to guess who has the star and can still retap the same person even without this feature, though these are probably accidents.
I’ll add it to the suggestion, players can give feedback if they think it should be removed.

This sounds like a very interesting game that would be heaps of fun! I would really enjoy playing this myself.
