Sometimes when changing your profile cover, it doesn't change for you until after a while, however, for others it changes.
I've noticed that if this happens and you want to see an immediate change, go to preferences, scroll down and click "Save Changes". This should make it visible for you - if not, just be patient and it should soon change.
