Hey, as the leader of the Community Feedback team I’m going to try to put out a suggestion or two I’ve heard from others (outside of forums) each week to get feedback on. I will try my best to cite where and by whom it was suggested if they want to be credited. Today’s suggestion came from a conversation I overheard on our TeamSpeak that stemmed from this suggestion. (This one’s pretty minor, I’ll probably dig up some older and bigger suggestions soon)
Current System -
Right now chat gives a ding and highlights your username (visible by the person of that username and no one else) in chat.
Suggested Improvement -
A cool feature to have is the ability to add words to your personal notifications. It would be nice for people who have really commonly used nicknames that they don’t want to miss in chat. It could be used as a staff tool. It would automatically put your name into the bank of words that you want notifications for, but you can remove it and other words that you’ve previously added (going hand in hand with the toggleable chat notifications suggestion).
Maybe also adding a (toggleable) notification noise when there is a server chat announcement (made by an admin). The same for the first PM you receive from someone if you haven’t received a PM from them in the past 5 minutes (to prevent ding ding ding ding when you’re having a conversation but to make sure you catch the PM, even if you’re looking at a different tab).
Commands -
/notify - shows all related commands
/notify help - also shows all related commands
/notify off - toggles all notifications off
/notify on - toggles all notifications on
/notify clear - clears all notification words
/notify add [word] - adds a word
/notify remove [word] - removes a word
/notify list - lists all personal notification words
/notify sounds on - turns dings on (doesn’t affect highlight)
/notify sounds off - turns dings off (but not highlight)
Optional Commands (Could Be Premium Perks) -
/notify colour [(colour code) or (colour name)] - changes the player’s highlight colour
/notify sound [cat, dog, noteblock, etc.] - changes the player’s “ding” noise
When Could This Be Used?
Another note is that it could be really useful when moderating roleplay chats - as any staff member probably knows that chat zooms by so quickly you can barely even read it.
I am aware this isn’t necessary - it would just be a fun little add on which some people may enjoy using that could come with toggleable chat notifications which has been confirmed as something that will be implemented. It could potentially help moderators (or frequent chat offense reporters) out as well.
I don’t really see any cons other than it taking the devs’ time to create and implement which comes with any suggestion. Otherwise just don’t use it if you don’t want to ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.
Please note: if you add a word, only you will see it highlighted - one staff member highliting the phrase “hacking” for example will not cause everyone to get a notification in chat when it appears.

When Could This Be Used?
- Staff could add words that are commonly used to be mean to others but aren’t always used in that way so aren’t filtered out
- People could add their nicknames or misspellings of their usernames
- Short phrases could be added like “I need help” or “I need a staff member” or “how do you (...)” so that staff or other sources of help are sure to see
- I don’t know many Elite(+)s that would like to, but you could add “world edit” or “can any elites help me with world edit”
- Religious phrases or political names could be added that typically start arguments
- Staff could add “hacking” or “hacker” for obvious reasons
- Players who are interested in roleplays could add words like “roleplay” or types they like, like “hybrids vs scientists”
- Maybe you really like (or hate) Taylor Swift and you just can’t possibly miss a conversation about her album - you can add words like “reputation” or the titles of her songs.
Another note is that it could be really useful when moderating roleplay chats - as any staff member probably knows that chat zooms by so quickly you can barely even read it.
