Should the server consider an update?

Should we update the server? (This is a petition)

  • Yes. This will do more good than harm.

  • No. Too much staff loss, conflict, etc.

Have you forgotten PvP means Player vs. Player? Despite the abilities the weapons have, it's still using melee combat.

I keep saying we shouldn't delete some of our playerbase. There are pros and cons to both sides of this.
Yes PvP means Player v.s. Player, but Downgrade isn't straight PvP. One hit kill and you die? That's not PvP. Not at all. Since I can't say other server names, find a Minecraft Dual youtube video. The players actually hit eachother more than once. It's quite amazing. That's PvP. Not a one hit kill game. No... no i would not consider Downgrade a PvP based game. Although it has some similarities with the general idea of battling eachother, it is not straight up PvP.

Downgrade is a one hit kill almost the entire time.

Insert: Iron sword, shotbow, explosive crossbow, knockback axe, wooden sword, snowball, fists, all of which take considerably more hits than one to kill with in an apples to apples fight where both players are at full health.

Infact, the only three weapons that are really one-hits are the first two weapons (labeled one hit sword and one hit bow) and the mines! And I'm not trying to be mean here, but since you really think downgrade is only one-hit weapons, why is that? Do you just quit before you get away from the one hits? Do you get your kills stolen so much that it feels like you get one hit by everything?

Jitterclicking does end up being a staple in most of downgrade, as if it were 1.9 pvp... well, the best players would be a bit more tame on their attack rates, which I would personally love, if axes weren't just broken OP.

PvP is a continuous line up of strafes, hits, and other moves. Since when is an explosive bow even considered PvP. Don't worry I come off as mean sometimes anyway so it's ok lol. I haven't played Downgrade in a decent amount of time but I know how it works, and I wouldn't consider it PvP. Skywars, other than the fact that people took like no knockback, was a PvP game. People got weapons and armor, and they actually strafed, straightlined, and fought. But in Downgrade you die so easily it isn't even PvP. This thread isn't about a Downgrade argument so if you or the other person wants to debate it more you can message me but I think its gotten a bit much for a post about updating PZ. I'll be here. :)

Run-down:

1/3rd of PZ's players will be gone. What does that leave us? Couple of hundred.
Half the moderation team? No thanks.
All for the sake of an update? Not worth it tbh. Its just new pvp and a few new blocks but it's not exactly something worth losing a third of the players over. Nothing is that much. There's a huge update coming in the summer, even then, it isnt worth losing some of our community over.

Literally, PvP means "Player vs. Player." A game doesn't have to involve the kind of stuff people spend dozens of hours perfecting to be PvP.

Can someone brief me on why people can't update because of their computers? Before reading this thread, I've honestly never heard of someone's computer disliking an update other than fps drops/game bugs. What is it about the updates that the computers don't like? Is it actually a problem, or are people just exaggerating?

If I log on in 1.9 / 1.9+, my game is 0-1 fps. It eventually crashes, too. Its horrible.
It's probably because Mojang used something on 1.8 since it was the next huge update to make it much less laggier.
I use optifine, too. Still, no difference.
1.9+ so far has been updated that, i think, weren't needed.. rn im just hoping that the huge new update contains something like what 1.8 and below did, where it was much less laggier. I don't know whats up with 1.9+, but our computers just dont like the new updates i guess

Updates add new things, which may require higher performance from the computer. Some computers can only run basic things, some can run things that require a lot of high performance from the computer's hardware. In 1.9+, they have added many new things, which has caused an FPS drop, or for some people, to crash and not be able to run any of those updates. It happens with every major update in a game. It's not that the computers do not like the update. It's just a performance issue.
