This really isn't much to add, but I was thinking how some people on murder tend to complain about there role, whether it is bystander, detective or even murderer. So I was wondering if when a player joins the murder lobby, a message from murder would appear, it would read something like, "Please select the class you would prefer to be" and it would have a list of murderer, detective and bystander, then the player would left click the role that they would prefer to be, then it would go from there. I have suggested this just so that the player is more likely to get the role they want.

Then everyone would just click murderer and we'd be back at square one.

I respect your views and points overall, but here is my opinion on the suggestion:

Adding this feature means that people with karma in the negatives can easily bypass their already low chances by just choosing to be the murderer/detective option and getting it even though they do not deserve it. (In order to get low karma, you have to shoot innocents. I completely understand if it's accidentally but when you're in the negatives or very low range it's clear that it is not by accident).

I feel like this would also destroy the purpose of karma because why have something to maintain the amount of something that can already easily be altered/bypassed by someone with again, a low amount. Karma is there to ensure fairness and balance the chances of all players becoming a murderer/detective based on their game play.

Everyone cannot get what they want, that's the point of the game; one side or another has to win.
This statement also applies to the suggestion you've made; not everyone can be a murderer/detective. People will be complaining regardless since there is only 1 person who can play as murderer/detective. For instance, even though 2 players out of 10 may have picked being a murderer, only 1 will be picked and the other may be upset because they also wanted to be murderer.

If you feel like you can't handle being the murderer or simply do not like being the murderer, you can always leave the game and rejoin a new one. This won't damage your stats in anyway (I'm almost sure it doesn't) and you don't have to deal with being murderer!

It's all about chance and whether you're a good teammate in game (having good karma can significantly improve your chances of being murderer/detective), and I believe that adding this suggestion would ruin that aspect.

Not necessarily. People like me with 1000 karma start to get a bit annoyed always being murderer. So that's not always the case.
I love being Murderer. I win 75% of the time.

Definite no, sorry.
a. Karma system is rendered pointless by this, and Karma is a very, very important feature.
b. Pointless, since most won't even get the one they want. They'll either choose Detective or Murderer.
c. In no way could this be modified to work.

Also, basically what I'm saying here -

c. In no way could this be modified to work.
It'd be a pretty much useless feature since everyone would choose one or the other, no one's gonna go after bystander.
Also chances are a big part of the game, even a little bit moved in your favor takes the fun out of it.

Don't know what everyone is complaning about but it's sounds decent if I don't really want to be a certain role.
...
Suggestion
Have a karma need such as 500 in order to pick your classes. Karma can still play a role yet this will just make your percentages go up or down.
...
Message to everyone else. Your not focusing on the idea just why it shouldn't happen. Sure a karma system is in place yet sometimes you don't want to be this role or that role.

The karma system controls about 5% or somewhere around there with your own karma. As said above it could control 1% by opinion with a 500 karma need to 6% is controlled by karma yet it also has the playears choice. Yet this would only affect 1 percent. So 5% based on karma 1% based on choice. It's hard to explain yet it's very possible.

Sorry not the best with words lol. Yet this is possible and beneficial to some people.

If karma was still kept as a factor in the game, but you could only make a preference if you have over a certain number of karma may seem like it could work, but the problem is all the players who are good at Murder have 900-1000 karma, not to mention the only players with karma lower than that either shoot others for no reason or make mistakes often. Karma plays a large part in the game, so if this was added and karma was used in this way, karma wouldn't be anything besides another ranking. Say you are in a game where everyone has 900-1000 karma, if everyone in a game picked murderer/detective as their preference, how would the role be picked? Basing the pick off of murder ranks would be unfair to everyone but the people with the highest rank and if it was based off of random pick, what's the purpose of the ranks? I just don't see how everyone could be happy with this.

It doesn't have to make a big difference even small difference can change a lot.
