Its silent in here, other than the footsteps on the marble floor. My head is pounding and burning. I grumble to myself, on the verge of tears. We head to McCormick’s office, and he sits me down.

“My sweet Aislyn… Where have you been? Oh how ive missed you…” He says, smirking.

“I’m not your daughter anymore!” I snap at him, the tears flying free.

“Yes you are, And I have been looking for you.” He says, a stern look on his face.

“Leave me alone! Leave my friends alone! Just let me go…” I yell at him, my voice cracking.

“Your outfit is dirty… you look like an uncared for girl.” My father replies, “Lets get you cleaned up.” He waves his hand and the guards take me into the next room.

*~*

Where are we? I think, my head whirring. Everyone is to my left, and Walter is sitting on a bench.

“Clove, you’re awake.” Drayton says.

“Yeah… what happened?” I reply, rubbing my arm. My wrist is dislocated, for sure. But the rush of adrenaline is keeping the pain down.

“Where is Aislynn?” I ask, not waiting for my other question to be answered.

“She got taken in the other direction, we don’t know where though.” Fox says, rubbing his hands through his hair.

“I’m scared.” I hear Areu say in the corner.

“I know… I know. Its okay Areu.” I tell her, trying to reassure her. My voice is shaking though, so I don’t know if she believes me. I rub my hands on my jeans, and stand up.

“Alright guys. Listen up.” I say, wobbling a bit.

“We’re getting out of here.”
I hate being in this suit. It smells like… “home”. I writhe in my seat, anger growing inside of my gut. The woman next to me is staring in front of her, probably focusing on her screen. Her hand is swiping in the air, so I guess that confirms that. The tights they put me in are so itchy, and uncomfortable. I do like the skirt and blazer though. No! Snap out of it. You don’t like it here. My consciousness tells me. You’re right. I don’t like it here. I need to get to the rest of my group, I need to get to Walt. The woman next to me is clearly not paying attention to me, and her mind is on the screen. Its only us in the hallway, so I can easily slip away. Why didn’t my father think about that? The floor on this building giant also. It’s marble and cream tiled floors contrast with the pillars holding it up. There’s couches and plants along the walls, and a big holographic waterfall in the middle. To the left of me, there’s a bar, filled with oddly shaped bottles of alcohol. I couldn’t imagine drinking that. My tongue feels sour thinking it. Above me, a soft whirr is coming from the fan. It’s out of place. They should fix that. I scratch at my leg, accidently tearing the tight. A smile spreads across my face, and I feel rebellious.

“Oh no… Let’s get you fixed up, Aislynn” The woman says to me, finally paying attention to me.

“No, it’s fine.” I say, the smile sharply going away, leaving a monotone look on my face.

“Your father won’t be very pleased with that.” She replies. Her shoes clack on the floor a bit as she taps her shoe.

“Can I go to the restroom? Or will you keep me here until I piss my pants?” I ask, rolling my eyes.

“Language, dear.” She says, her eyes digging into mine.

“Sorry” I say and laugh wickedly.

“Linda.” The woman says after a while.

“And I care why?” I say, pushing a rogue hair behind my ear.

“Just thought you might need to know. Still need to go to the bathroom?” She says, turning the screen back on.

“Yeah.” I reply, and stand up, “Which way?”

“Around the left, and down the hall. The door will be to your left.”

“Thanks.”

I hold pressure on Walter’s arm, the wound has turned a purplish-red color. He winces in pain, tears welling up in his eyes. My hand shakes, I don’t want to mess up. Castor has finally woken up, and the pain has gone away, from what I understand. He grimaces as my hand takes to rag off.

“Walter. This is GOING to hurt.” I say, reassuring him.

“That… doesn’t make me feel better…” He says through scrunched faces.

I pull a small bottle of alcohol out of my pocket. My mind wants me to keep it for myself, but I know I have to disinfect this wound. I pull the top off, take a swig, and dump it onto Walters wound. He groans and tears fall from his eyes.

“Shoot!” He yells, rubbing a hand through his hair violently.

“I told you, Walter.” I reply, putting the rag back on and securing it with a ripped article of clothing. He breathes in and out, grabbing the floor. I look around the room, quickly checking on everyone else. Drayton and Areu are talking, getting increasingly intimate, Ixion is helping Castor, and Donovan is sitting by himself. We can relax for now, but soon we have to go look for Aislynn.
