A Lord of the Rings style game.
I've read all of the books and watched all the movies, but it's more or less based on the books.
THE GAME:
What do you think?
Not even sure if I'm done yet.
Give me ideas.
This would take a ton of work.
I've read all of the books and watched all the movies, but it's more or less based on the books.
THE GAME:
MAP/WORLD:
Each of the teams are in similar maps, but the terrain structure is a bit different.
The maps are very large, with a simple design which doesn't stray far from normal Minecraft if reskinned. Trees are scarce and the land is very rocky. There are a lot of good rocks to hide behind.
There are 2 checkpoints, one a third to Mount Doom, and the other 2 thirds of the way. These are abandoned orc-camps.
It's basically a huge rocky plain with a few buildings/strongholds, towers and camps. It is surrounded by mountains on 3 sides, the fourth being a broken-looking terrain.
It is always dark; cloudy or night. There are no blue skies ever.
Prompt for texture pack, making everything look very dark, fancy, and more like the Lord of the Rings. This can also make normal worlds look not-so-normal and nobody has to play around with them too much. Just copy and paste with W/E a massive Barad-dûr and Mount Doom, buildings, camps, a Minas Morgul, etc. Also good for custom music and custom skies and stuff.

GAMEPLAY AND MECHANICS:
In a game, you're split into 4 pairs, each with a colour to represent them shown on the leaderboard.
The objective is to destroy the One Ring by going to Mount Doom without being caught by the minions of the Dark Lord.
There is also a stat-based ranking system to improve matchmaking.
All teams begin in Mordor. One person is randomly picked to be the Ringbearer, and the other the Companion. The Ringbearer has the ring, a map, and a wooden sword with leather clothing, while the Companion has a stone sword with chain armour and a compass pointing towards Mount Doom. These are the default sets, which can be upgraded in the Shop. Everyone has wafers of lembas (baked potato) which they either start with when beginning to play the game, or purchase from Rivendell. other food can be purchased in other places as well.
If the ringbearer dies, the companion dies as well, and they are returned to the last checkpoint.
You must avoid Sauron (The Dark Lord)'s tower called Barad-dûr, avoid camps of Orcs, and survive the events on your journey. Once you arrive at the top of Mount Doom, throw the ring into the lava. Then we have some cool particle-y fireworks and effects and stuff.
On the journey, the Ringbearer can put on the Ring by right-clicking. This gives invisibility, strength, speed, and moderate nausea, and also removes his sword and armour for the time invisible, maximum 7 seconds. By right-clicking again, the Ring-bearer takes the ring off and on the second use and above, a randomized low-level debuff is put into place for 1 minute, as well as intensified nausea for 14 seconds. The debuff strength gets worse after the fifth use, 9th use, 12th use, and the ring is unusable on the 15th use and you both die.
Each team's progress (recorded by distance away from Mount Doom) is shown to all with boss-bars of their team colour.
There is a chance that an enemy can drop items as well. About half are useless or low-tier and can be turned in at the Lonely Mountain for money.
On completion of a quest, you are awarded 50 Mirian, Pence, and Castar for completion, 10 for each event completed, and 1 for each kill. Half of the seconds taken to complete is added. 1 is negated for each consumable used, respective of where it was bought; so, if I used a Phial of Galadriel, 1 mirian would be negated since I bought it from Rivendell, an elf realm. If you use an item which was a previous reward, 1 is negated for each level of rarity. 7 is negated for each Companion death (excluding if a Ringbearer was killed), and 12 for each Ringbearer death. Bonus of 25 for whichever currency is used by your race if you have chosen one. 40 is added for first place, 30 for second, and so on, so forth. There are randomised item rewards as well.

ENEMIES:
There are a few camps of orcs (reskinned zombies) scattered around the land of Mordor, with most spawning around like zombies in the night rather than in groups. There are also some events which happen in order to make it more difficult. These occur when triggered (someone wanders into an orc camp, triggering event 1) or every 1 and a half minutes. When one happens, there is a 5 second countdown on screen using a Subtitle, then is moved to the leaderboard until it's over. Failure to complete an event once results in armour durability decreasing a bit, as well as the hunger bar. Twice does the same thing, and at 3 times the hunger bar goes down until you can't sprint. Third time, and the hunger bar is empty and you die. Food cannot be replenished past the point of negation from the event.
ORC AMBUSH
You are attacked by a group of 3-7 orcs. Simple. If you're spotted at an orc camp, this event will initiate. There will still be a countdown, they'll start coming after you after it.
NAZGUL'S FLIGHT
The Nazgûl (or Ringwraiths) are searching for you. You must take cover under somewhere where light can't reach to survive.
(The Nazgul are 9 End Dragons flying around with a cloaked wither skeleton on top)
SAURON'S GAZE
The Dark Lord uses his Eye to try and find you. A very bright light will shine from Barad-dûr. You must hide behind something and stay in the opposite direction of Barad-dûr. The compass and map will come in handy. (The light could be a massive wave of reskinned lava; a very bright orang-ish white.)
SHELOB'S ONSLAUGHT
You are attacked by a lot of spiders/cave spiders, but you are given a bit of strength and speed. Fight or flight.
MY PRECIOUS...
That slippery sneak Gollum (reskinned pig to look skinnier, slimier and Gollum-ier) is attacking! Fight off the slimy stinker. He's very fast though, so do beware.
(One occurrence per game unless you do not kill him)
TROLLS, TROLLS, TROLLS
There are some trolls (3 iron golems) around a campfire, and they're hungry! We don't have sunlight, so either use the Elfstone, or fight them off!
THE RING'S WEIGHT
The Ringbearer is growing weary. The Ringbearer is given many debuffs. Either sleep or find water to cure the debuffs before they go away in 45 seconds. This will not occur if the players are near enemies.
