This is a opinion but I’ve seen a lot of complaints of appeals. I like the idea of appeals it lets someone have a possible second chance. I think it would be nice if the person who gave you the punishment doesn’t get to judge the appeal.

Example: (no hate on staff members these are on the top of my head XD)

Person: *gets muted for cursing by Jebb*
    Person: *Sends in a repeal*
caalico: *looks at repeal and denies it*

I like this idea because most of the time the person who muted the person doesn’t get to judge it because they may think they are right anyway and deny it. I like the idea of possibly a admin judging it or a senior mod. But possibly a helper or regular mod doesn’t get to judge if the punishment is repealed.

Thanks for taking your time to read

    Have a awesome day!

What's the difference between a repeal and an appeal?

I know but I’m saying that overall the person who gave you the punishment shouldn’t be allowed to decide if your appeal is denied or not.

I don't really think this would change anything - the player would just get the same answer from someone else dependant on the gathered evidence. Basically, regardless of who responds to an appeal it's going to be the same outcome, it's just easier and more efficient for the same staff member who punished a player to answer their appeal.

Oh, I remember this was suggested before. Pretty sure it got denied. Basically, the person who would reply to a repeal may not have the evidence to present to you, since only the staff who punished you would have it. Like I said in the earlier thread, staff aren't allowed to be biased towards themselves. If they are (and you're 100% sure they are, don't just do this because your appeal got denied) then report them on the Report Staff subforum.

Staff members don't punish without Evidence. If they do punish without evidence (or make a mistake), then they WILL accept your appeal.

Having other staff members handle other users reports will just cause a whole bunch of mess.

    In your example,

Caalico would DM Jebb asking for the evidence
    Jebb sends evidence to Caalico
Caalico sends the exact same msg Jebb would've said.

Keep in mind, it may also take a while for Jebb to contact Caalico and she might not even be online by the time Jebb answers.

The staff member knows what was going on during the situation, unlike a staff member who was not present during the event.
Additionally, if you were punished wrongly and the appeal was denied based off bias, leadership will eventually see it and the staff member will be dealing with consequences and will remove or shorten your punishment. You can also make a staff abuse report if you feel there was bias present in the response, or contact a leadership member, who will then deal with the member and will remove or possibly shorten your punishment, if needed. Of course the staff may be in the right in situations, so this will not always happen and your punishment would remain, but that’s of course because you’re not able to view the punishment guideline, so you will not know everything. But if you really feel bias was present, it’s always smart to make a report or contact leadership.

The appeal system we have now is fine, changing it will only cause delays in appeal responses and more common confusion regarding evidence.
Unfortunately I will be voting -1, but I completely understand your view.

sure because sometimes it's hard to talk sense into the person who banned you, they are only blind to their side of the situation no matter how good your argument & defense is.

This seems pointless to me. The staff member who warned you would have the evidence so it would be a waste of everyone's time for the staff member to send the evidence to someone else and then for that staff member to come to the same conclusion as the other staff member would have

Pardon me for saying this but I dont think you understand how an appeal works. If A appeals against the ban received by B, if B has the sufficient evidence to say that they deserve the ban, A would not be unbanned. It doesnt matter HOW good of an argument A puts up, if B has the evidence, A cant do much about it. However, the only times an appeal would be accepted is if the evidence is not sufficient, the punishment was accidental/a misunderstanding or if there isn't actually any evidence to present. It's all about evidence here.

This seems like a lie to me. Don't staff members post evidence when they deny the appeal?

They do. Maybe the appeal got denied like a year ago when the system was different.

The system's been in place for as long as I remember - when I was staff in 2016, evidence was the main priority when punishing players, it still is.
If this is the case you should've messaged the staff member and asked for the evidence, though it's odd they didn't show any. If you did ask them for it and they refused then you should've reported it, appeals are pointless if either party can't actually prove anything.

I don't believe that is true. If so, please provide evidence and write a complaint. Otherwise, I don't think what you are writing is exactly accurate.

This is getting off topic. Sorry, just don't want you to get warned.
I really agree, I have never been punished without an example of what I did wrong. With all of this evidence, I rate this a -1.
