Under a Bridge
Hello,
I've been taking a break from Minecraft, and after the recent quarantine began I've been playing much more frequently. Before I stopped playing Minecraft, MCPZ was my all time favorite server. I had played on the server almost everyday since January of 2015 for hours on end (I was like 10 when I started and I had a bit of a problem lmao).

However, when I came back to visit MCPZ I was shocked. The server was practically empty, with a little over 30 people on at noon (which is crazy compared to the hundreds of people fighting to get on in the previous years). As I have continued revisiting the server over the past week, I now understand why so few people now visit the server.

Let's start with murder, and oh boy there's a lot to cover.
Firstly, everything is very glitchy now. For example the sprint glitch. The majority of players, bystander or not, appear to be sprinting, despite not necessarily being able to. This leads to a lot of new players shooting innocents, and it also makes it much harder to distinguish who is, or who is not the murderer. Being the murderer is also fairly glitchy, it is much more laggy, and the screen freezes up, making it a lot harder move around, and to dodge the detective. Having a gun is also fairly troubling, the gun aims too low which makes it difficult to aim properly, it also doesn't work at all in close range. Also, now usernames are easily visible through the walls making it much easier for the murderer to find you, and when big parties do decide to play the majority of them are all spawn in the same room!
Secondly, the maps! Where are all the maps! There were once so many glorious maps, where have they all gone!? I understand maybe updating them, or maybe getting rid of unpopular ones, however many popular maps that were very well loved by the community are gone? Now the game rotates between 6 maps opposed to the (AT LEAST) 12 maps previously, which makes playing feel a lot more monotonous. And also what happened to the murder lobby/waiting area??? I've seen multiple threads on this website asking to bring it back, only to be ignored. I believe I'm speaking for the majority of the community when I say the original lobby had a lot of charm, and nostalgia left in it. I could understand maybe tweaking it a little bit, or adding on but it's completely gone, and everyone I've spoken to about it agrees that removing it entirely was a bad decision. I also feel that the main lobby has been ruined. The original lobby had so so much charm, and love built into it, and it is completely gone (and the lobby still has it's Halloween theme.. in April?)
Third, the moderators/helpers are not handling hackers. I don't know if no one is bothering to report them, or if the Mods are just ignoring the reports, but contacting a staff member on the server is almost impossible (which it shouldn't be).
Fourth, the items and coins. You can't earn coins anymore, and now everything is bought with party points, which is exclusively obtained through paying real money. I don't necessarily have a problem with paying money for cosmetic items, but getting rid of all the items and hats and whatnot that many players have spent hours, upon hours trying to obtain was definitely very disappointing. I also feel as though I've been cheated out of my rank. I payed a little over 60 dollars to receive perks like pets, coins, hats, gadgets and whatnot, and now they've all been removed? This was probably one of the most disappointing realizations I made as I know I can't get my (wasted) money back, not because I don't play as often anymore, but because the contract was (metaphorically) changed after I signed it.

The point of this thread is that the server is in ruins, and it's all your (the staff's/owner's) fault. You did not have to make such (bad) drastic changes, and you could have listened to your community but you didn't. A beautiful community is dead, and the blame is on you.

What do you guys think? (if anyone still even uses this website)

Did some digging seeing as I've got some kind of sentiment for the server (made this account sometime 2015 I think, I haven't checked). Murder was changed in a big to improve it but the server was falling before that anyway. When Minecraft as a whole died between 2016-2017 basically every server suffered and smaller community based servers like this did A LOT. Since the resurgence the community was gone and although its improved slightly it hasn't been the same since. Murder is obviously worse and most people agree but creative is and always was more popular - murder needs fixing but isn't a priority. As for staff the moderation and insights team (events and stuff) still are in pretty good shape but I think from my own perception there is a lack of developers and or a lack of time to work on fixing issues and especially adding new things. As for the owner he co-owns a slightly larger server with MCPZ on the side however from a post on that servers forums he was recently (16th March) hired 2 co owners to help with with the burden of work. I doubt MCPZ comes first in his mind but I'm hopeful things will change with extra ownership and they will crucially change for the better. Hope his helps somewhat.
