Who else thinks that they should remove the new forums update where only staff members can reply to questions?

I agree

I think they should. Non-staff members can help answer questions, if a wrong answer is told, a staff just shouldn't lock the thread and say it is an inncorrect answer.

This new system is in place to prevent any wrong answers from being stated. It's much easier for the right answer become apparent when only staff members are answering. This also eliminates all possibility for the wrong answer to get jumbled up between staff and players who are trying to answer the same question. If a staff member is wrong, there will always be another staff member to correct their mistake. Staff members are trained to learn knowledge regarding this server and everything related, while players are not. Where do players learn their knowledge? From the forums, server, and other staff. Where does that knowledge come from? Staff. All knowledge originates from a staff member at one point in time. This is why it's an improvement. Even if many of you disagree with the change, it is.

Let me just add to the post Corcustos made. Its a good thing and ill explain why with an example

Player A asks a question 'Can I earn party points from playing games'
Player B answers 'Yes you can'
Player C answers 'No that's wrong you cant earn them'
Player D answers 'I'm sure you cant but maybe its changed?'
this goes on for about 10 posts and doesn't answer the players question.

The point of the questions section becomes apparent its to make sure the player gets the correct answer promptly without having to read through everyones thoughts on if they are correct.

As stated above the staff are constantly updated on rules and if things change staff know first. Eventually the questions section will be a vast library of information that's quick and easy to guide though without 20 posts on every question.

Its not that we don't want players to communicate with each other, we just want to make sure the correct answers are given with the least amounts of posts.

But what of the possibility that an answer is only skimmed over or forgotten for a long period of time? Is it going to be guaranteed that an answer will be given as soon as possible, or will the player have to wait over a period of time. Even though in that same space of time they could have been answered by someone else in another shape or form instead of that very thread and then a staff member would finally answer much later but would most definitely give the exact answer as the other person would have said in the space of time given.

I understand that some staff are on forums for the majority of each day but, however, timezones do play a major factor with that variable, of that being time, will cause possibly a larger delay than necessary for the desired question to be answered. So, with the amount of players who communicate through forums, you would believe that basically 75% of those non-staff members have correct answers and factual information (as seen in previous Question threads posts). However, if there is concern whether they have the correct answer or not, players can either PM a staff member, (which is basically this current Question Threads system and has been around for as long as this forum site has been), or to notify a particular, suitable staff through a post in that thread.

Therefore, the new system has already been around for much longer with the whole PM ability, but even that cannot be guaranteed so neither can this new system if the Private Messaging cannot even be checked regularly. So all that I am trying to say is that this new system is basically just limiting other systems of communication within the community since this very same system has already been deemed possible through Private Messaging on forums.

You seem to be implying that the staff aren't the best people to answer questions about the server they work on everyday and are even involved in the discussions of new rules and ideas. We have meetings were we discuss the best way to do things and the best approach, all of this is aimed at making the players on PZ feel safe and basically have a good time. We also want to make sure our staff are able to fix issues and deal with problems easily. The whole process of only having staff is to make sure the answer is 100% correct, this is because we have things in place that allow us to discuss any 'hard' questions and get answers back to the players very quickly. The thing is players are here to play, we don't want them to have to answer questions and yes i realise some of them don't mind, but this is Party Zone not answer questions zone. Having players that arent sure about a an answer PMing a staff to get the correct answer to then post seems pretty pointless. The questions are answered as soon as possible and i have yet to see a question being skimmed over or forgotten about since the staff took over. Its our job to keep things running smoothly and we love it. Please let us do our job!

I'm with the staff :p I think the new "Only staff can answer questions" thingy is a great idea. As previous people said, it prevents overly long threads. And also it will help you guys a lot - just wait. I think it will help me a lot if I come across something that I want to ask a staff a question that I'm not so sure about. You guys just gotta understand that staff are great at doing their job and try their hardest to keep the server running.

We understand that you guys want to answer questions, but in the state that the questions section was in before, it wasn't working out. People were writing answers that weren't correct, particularly in order to gain more posts, and it was becoming extremely messy. I do understand your frustration, however it really is for the best, because us staff are a lot more likely to know what we're doing :p

I can see the upside to this, really. (Staff don't take offense to this post) Even though people may get answers a bit slower, i guess they will %90 of the time get a right answer.

That doesn't mean i'm all for this update. Right now, i'm deciding which side im on....oh wait...tbh i'm starting to not really care anymore.
Even though answering questions was fun.

Sorry for the confusion but I am not implying that staff are not capable, of course they are capable because they were accepted as the right people for the job. But time is just something that may be concerning other players, that was all that I was implying. I admit that I was misleading with my words but I can assure you that it was not intended to be criptical towards staff in any way shape or form. I deeply apologise for this unintended notion but all that I am trying to say that some players may be worried that their questions may not be answered as soon as they expect, not from fault or just ignoring the query but maybe from just accidentally missing it, (which I do doubt personally im just speaking for other people's opinions). Again, I humbly apologise for the misinterpretation of my words.

I think that this new update is actually pretty useful. As the others have said above, it prevents from threads becoming too long. If the staff answer to the question, it gets straight to the point and nobody gets confused.

I like the new update. But before you answer a question in-game, I suggest making sure you're 100% right before answering.

Well since the question has been answered multiple times, can this forums post be closed/whatever it is please
