Aaron POV-
It was a house, of moderate size. The shadow coming from the small sunrise was enormous, which would make the average looker think the house is big too. It has pale wooden doors… doors that I will be opening. I reach out my hand and hold onto the dirt encrusted handle, grit coating my palm. I pull down, hearing the handle crank as if it had not been opened for many decades. The hinges of the door whine as I swing it open, gazing into the dark room. Cobwebs and torches alike hang from the walls, though barely illuminating the room at all.
Could this have been a church? Rows and rows of dark, some broken, benches and chairs lining the floor of the room. Directly facing me at the other end of the room is a large painting, covering almost floor to ceiling with its large canvas.
As I take a step forward on the stone floor, my footstep echoes in the hall, bouncing off walls. I take a deep breath, hoping no one else is hiding in the room at the moment, or else they would be able to hear me. I continue walking up the isle, like I'm about to get married. My palms are sweaty and I feel like people are watching me. What was only a few seconds felt like ages, almost as if I'd grown old in the space of several meters.
Soon enough, I reach the end, suprising myself as I let loose my breath I'd been holding. There's a large... Thing... Right in front of me. It doesn't really have anything interesting on it, so I lose interest quickly, walking around it. The back may not have been exciting, but the front is. Many open books and scattered papers were on the desk-like thing.
Leaning closer, I look at the writing on the yellowed pages, though I can't make out the scribble on them.
Suddenly, something soft but firm covers over my mouth. I try to scream but the object muffles any noise coming out. The thing pulls me backwards where the painting was and I was being pulled behind it. When it let go, I turn around quickly and lash out a the intruder. My arm flings out to the direction of where the head should be but a firm arm blocks the attack.
"Woah, dude. Calm your farm." The voice says.
I squint, trying to make out the figure through the darkness. My eyes widen, "Akita!"
"The one and only." Her white teeth shine into the darkness as she grins.
"Oh my god, you literally scared the Scheiße out of me." I press my hand on my thumping heart, trying to calm it.
"Yeah yeah whatever." She waves a paw at me, "Have you seen anyone yet?" Akita asks pressingly.
"Uh... No." She looks disappointed for a second, "But earlier I was on the path outside this thing," I wave my hands in the air, "and I heard a really loud scream then someone laughing."
"Same..." She nods. "I was in a graveyard earlier, I saw Alvin. And before that I saw Caitlyn, but I don't think she saw me. How many emeralds have you got?" She changes the subject quickly.
"Uh, only one." I grimace.
"Pff..." Akita laughs. She swings her bag over her shoulder and opens up the clip, revealing 3 large gems.
I cross my arms and scowl at her. "Whatever, I'll find more soon."
She grins, "Speaking of which, I have to go now. You know, things to do, places to be, people to meet and all that shiz. Byes!" She lashes out at my face and I flinch away with a little squeal before opening my eyes getting ready with a retort. However, she had gone. I sigh quietly before coming out from behind the painting.
