So we all know the drill of becoming a Helper and then going to Mod. However, I notice many old mods, whenever they apply again, are set back to being a Helper. PZ is always in need of Moderators. With the Helper population constantly fluctuating getting new mods is hard. So, I'm gonna propose a separate Moderator application for old Moderators. The questions would have everything a moderator should know, along with some general rules.

But I know you're going to ask: Isn't it just fair for them to be put back as a Helper?

Well, it might seem "fair," but the main purpose of becoming a Helper is to learn and grow in order to become a Mod. If the retired Moderator still knows everything required to be a Moderator, what exactly is the point of putting them through training again? Imo, it wastes time and makes getting good Moderators even harder.

There would be some exceptions, such as if they retired staff hasn't been online in a very long time. Or they had some questionable staff history or inactivity so they're set back as a Helper just to see if they've improved at all. For that, maybe the Mod app would have to be approved by senior mods first before letting them take it. Kind of like the forum where you reset your application after 2 months.

There could always be a better idea of doing this but this is my idea for now. It might be a bit more time consuming but keep in mind there would be MUCH less Mod apps than Helper apps since they're so restricted. I think it would bring out more new mods but also ensure that they're ready to be put back into the mod position.

I really enjoy this idea. I have noticed some staff members in the past resigning and having to re-apply for helper to only go through months of doing punishments they already know to be promoted again. I do like this idea, however, I don’t find mod applications necessary at the moment. Since we have so many helpers at the moment, in the future (when this would be implemented) we would already have about 30+ moderators, including our pre-existing ones. I’ve also taken account that people who resigned in the past and get promoted again, usually need that little bit of being a helper to get into the swing of being staff again.

Personally, I feel that we wouldn’t need this. If someone resigns and a week or so later realizes they want to be staff again, I feel as though it would be pointless to them, as they would still be in the same mindset as why they resigned, wether it be for personal reasons or other, this will still be going on. I also think it would be unecessary for anyone that hasn’t been staff for over a month or two months. The punishments we give to players are constantly changing, and if we had changed the punishments around and someone re-applied for mod, they may mess up a little more and it would be a little concerning to see. Helpers, though, have more limited commands and do have room to mess up a bit, meanwhile a mod has very limited strikes.

For these reasons, I’ll be set at a -1 unless a good argument comes my way.

I'm pretty sure that if an ex-mod applies for helper they'll have an earlier promotion than others due to past knowledge. I like this system better than creating another application process. Ex-mods resigned/got demoted for a reason, so having some time as a helper again gives the higher-ups a chance to see if that person has "fixed" whatever issues they were having that led them to resign etc. // they've improved their behaviour since their demotion and whatnot. -1

That might be something new. Because when I reapplied, even though I wasn't gone for a while, that wasn't the case and they still had to go through the helper process unless it was a really special reason.

Could depend on how long that person was a Moderator for.
Maybe? I dunno. It seemed like back then no matter what they were put back as a Helper. But if it's the case now that they have shorter promotion times, I'll delete the thread since I wasn't aware of that.

@SilentHowl @KittysACanadian could this thread be locked please? Thank you!
