(Just as a side note, I copied and pasted this onto here, as I had posted it in the wrong place, like a goof. It is MY words though.)

Yall idk if im posting this on the rIGHt thiNG, but here me out.

I believe staff should give you a special warn if you're close to being banned, not just a typical warn. As someone who has been banned without warning, I think it would be a lot more fair, and cause people to cool down, especially when they're arguing if they're angry. As if they argue while on the verge of being banned and DO NOT know it, it can lead to further anger, and many angry messages.

I just think this can be fair? Idk share this or whatever.

Further note: my opinion.
I believe it is a bit unprofessional for staff to ban without warning to the person being banned. If you disagree, that is completely okay, if you agree, that is also completely okay.

Like when a person is on thin ice to being banned? I agree, I think it would be helpful for staff members to know if people are really trying to get banned.

Example:
Someone has disobeyed one of the rules. A staff member would give this person a regular warning. Say they do it again, the person will get this special warn and if they break a rule again, then they will be banned and maybe staff members will give a longer punishment since they now know that the person is purposely breaking the rule (some people break rules such as necro-posting or something else and they didn't even know it was rule).

If the example I gave is what you kinda mean, then I think this should be implemented! +1

Are you talking about being banned for previous infractions? Either way, I don't think this would be very useful. A player can just go about breaking as many rules as they want to and getting warns, and then they see this special warn and immediately stop. This would reduce players being punished by a lot, and many players could find loopholes using this system.

Players should know to obey the rules on the server, some of the rules involve common sense. If you were to disobey them, you do generally get a warning. If you get an immediate ban, it’s due to a serious issue or something that can’t be fixed with a warning.

-

Example -

“InappropriateUser082 - joined the server.
“Staff
- /ban InappropriateUser082 for Inappropriate user. This ban will be lifted after 2 months.

A staff member will automatically ban this person, because even with a warning, it is possible they may still have to wait a month before they can change their name. The reason it’s set at two, is so it can be assured the member will change their name. If they return with the same user, they will be banned once again. You can easily change your name when you can and change it again, and make an appeal to get unbanned, as the issue was resolved early.

Other times, it’s severe rules, such as homophobia and racism. These are pretty much common sense, and shouldn’t be done. Especially in this day and age, in a server that’s quite obviously against these behaviors. As well as the fact that behavior is discouraged almost everywhere. If you’re doing it, you might get a warn, but sometimes it results in further action depending on the severity.
Sometimes a ban is necessary in places where mutes and warns don’t do the job. You should read the rules in the first place, have a bit of common sense to realize certain things aren’t allowed. As I said, it’s kinda bad if you start using derogatory and racist slurs against people on a Minecraft server. As well, if you chose to use an inappropriate username, staff can’t fix that with a warn or mute. Players still see it, and still is inappropriate. Blackmail would also be a bannable offense as it’s illegal in some places anyway. There’s many things that can get players immediate bans, and they’re good reasons too. I mean warn/mute can’t fix everything, so sometimes it results in higher measures.

Of course there’s other reasons, probably not as severe as these, but if you believe the punishment was overboard, appeal or make a staff report.

Edit -
For necro posting, you are always given a warning. If you do it again, you should know by now. Staff do actually take into account when people accident necro post, and usually give a warning again. After that point, players should most likely be more careful and know what necro posting is. If you didn’t get a warning, I’d suggest appealing.

-

Adding on, as Catten said, players may use this to find loopholes in the system and abuse this, which you’re technically not supposed to do.

Apologies, this is very long. That wasn’t actually my intention.

Well I mean, there are stupid reasons people get banned for. I mean in general, if a person is c l o s e, they should maybe get a warning so they know, hey man, you're about to get kicked. If there is a serious reason where they deserve to be banned, such as serious harassment/death threats, griefing, etc. I understand why they wouldn't get a warning.

Again, if you think a ban was overboard, make an appeal or staff report.

Most of my warnings these days are fake, so I'd like to know. Or maybe give 24 hours notice before the user gets banned? idk

I wanna give a bit of advise as i was on the thread you posted in the wrong place too.

A better way to phrase this is;

Players who have not broke the rules beyond repair should receive a warn if they are going to or near to being banned.

For example.
If a player greifs, hacks, harasses, spams, etc, they will be banned immediately.

If a player says something inappropriate, adverises (by saying say, a server name like once and not spamming), etc, they can receive a warn id they are about or near to being banned.

I mean, if you're breaking the rules you should get a warning. The staff shouldn't need to give you a "special warning" to let you know that you could be banned. Just stop breaking the rules after the warning.

I do see what you're getting at here though, do maybe after someone is warned it could say "if you continue breaking the rules it could lead to a ban from the server" or something like that. (I'm not sure if it already has something like this or not, apologies if it's already there)

Staying neutral for now.

agreeing, maybe the command could be

/abwarn

a - about to be
b - banned
warn - just warn ya know

or /swarn
for special warn
or when you do /ban it comes up with a msg saying : are you sure you dont want to (/swarn,/abwarn,/bwarn) this person?

I don't think this would fix anything; punishments are there for a reason, if players can easily find loopholes through them, there's really no point. Warnings are already in place so that they will warn you if you are close to a punishment- that's basically what you're asking for. If the staff member feels you don't need a warning (in the case of something severe), you won't get one. There's no point in having a special warning that just basically takes the place of the warn system already, if that's how you're intending it. Though, I may be interpreting this wrong so please correct me if that is the case.

Thank you for your suggestion. However after thorough review, the team has decided this will be implemented in some capacity.
