Every now and then I am able to clear plots and it doesn't crash the server...

As some people have already stated: /plotme clear is reserved for admins for the sole reason it dramatically affects the server's performance. That being said, all staff members can help clear your plot with WE controls (though Helpers will need you to add them to their plot). You can also have Elite/Elite+ members help clear your plot, but make sure you trust the player-- once they're added to your plot they can do a lot of damage with WE.

Yeah, that's so true... I think by then staff can't help with grifted plots if you allowed a player to build on your plot.
