So you may remember my last thread in which I made a form which you were able to submit to me in order to find a phone you wanted.
But recently, I realised that I neglected a lot of key features which you need in order to have a smartphone!
So, if you are having trouble finding a phone, tell me what you look for in a phone by filling in the form below.
Screen: The average screen size of a smartphone is around 5.5". If you're used to a normal iPhone 6, your display is 4.7", and if you have an S8, that's 5.8". If you're looking for a big screen, I would say a digit above 5.7". Most 2017 flagships have around 6" displays. Also, refresh rate should be mentioned here; phones such as the Razer Phone have 120hz panels (which are ridiculous on a smartphone) but the average phone has a 60hz refresh rate. The refresh rate is basically how quickly an image on your phone will refresh itself. Gamers may find higher refresh rates more useful, but the average person will usually be fine with 60hz displays. Also, the Panel Technology used here should be mentioned; Mostly, OLED, IPS, LCD and AMOLED. (MOSTLY). OLED screens have very good colour reproduction, are very thin and usually can boost battery life because of this and usually better viewing angles (with the exception of the Google Pixel 2 and maybe a couple others). These OLED screens are mostly found on more expensive phones. AMOLED is a type of OLED and they have some traits from the OLED screens, such as its colour reproduction, battery life and somewhat lightweight design. AMOLED phones are rather popular in the smartphone market.
Design Material: This is pretty important, actually, because if you want a glass phone, you are getting wireless charging but you are gonna have a fun time with fingerprints. Metal phones are cool too but don't offer wireless charging. If you're interested, take a look at the spoiler at the bottom of this form.
Convenience: By this, I mean, headphone jack, IR blaster, etc.
Screen Resolution: This one is for the picky people. 1080p or 1440p? (It'll be quite hard trying to differentiate between the two)
Speaker Type: Bottom mono-firing speaker, stereo speakers or dual front facing speakers? Mono-firing speakers are on phones such as the Galaxy S8, stereo speakers are on the iPhone X and dual front-firing speakers are on the Google Pixel 2.
Price Range: Tell me what budget you're working with. Sub $300 or above $800? I don't know, you choose!
Storage: 32GB, 64GB, 128GB or 256GB?
Operating System (OS): iOS or Android? (or windows)
Processor Type: This part is optional, skip if you need to. Do you want a processor from this year, do you need the latest and greatest? Is it okay to maybe go back a year? (because I wouldn't)
Aspect Ratio: Last year in 2017 saw many tall smartphones with screens covering the display. Phones like this have an 18:9 aspect ratio. The traditional smartphone has a 16:9 aspect ratio. 18:9 or 16:9?
RAM: RAM is pretty important. The average is usually around 4GB in a smartphone, although 6GB smartphones are becoming more normal in the smartphone market. Some phones like the OnePlus 5T, Razer Phone and Xiaomi Mi 2S have an absurd 8GB ram which is in line with most laptops, but some phones still only have 2GB of RAM.
Brands you like: This one's self-explanatory.
Brands you dislike: Also self-explanatory.
IP-Certification: Is Water Resistance important to you?
Battery Size: Say small or big for this. This will give me an idea of how heavily you use your phone or not.
Anything else: Any other things that need to be clarified.
