Hey Partiers!​

Recently it was brought to my attention about the amount of rubbish that ends up in our oceans. Tons of rubbish per day are added to the amount, floating around the ocean killing sea life.

There is actually an island made of rubbish, in the middle of the Pacific where the sea currents meet up.

Over 10 billion plastic bottles are thrown away every year in the UK, only 3 billion of those are recycled, while the rest ends up in landfill. In the US alone, 60 million per day are thrown away.

​

HOW YOU CAN HELP:

• Recycle! Things like foil, metal, cardboard, paper, glass and plastic bottles are all recyclable!
• Reuse! Reuse old items that you may want to throw away, do a bit of crafting or DIY!
• Bring awareness! Like this thread, let the others around you know of their impact on the environment! Inspire young and old minds alike to tackle this world-wide issue!
• Use alternatives! Don't buy items with so much packaging, use biodegradable (they are able to decompose) plastic bags, use non-plastic bags!
• Plastic bottles! Recycle your plastic bottles or just re-use them in your own home!
• Pick up trash when you see it! Every little bit helps! Make your local community area look nicer and cleaner while helping the environment around you!
• Grow your own! Why waste so much money and packaging on food? Grow your own vegetables! Easy and low maintenance to-grow foods: lettuce, tomatoes, potatoes, sweet peas, parsley, basil, onions, garlic, berries, lemon trees!

Every little bit helps, be the Earth's superhero. The Earth is the only thing we all have in common.​

Yeah, it is pretty disgusting that there are things like The Great Pacific Garbage Patch on our planet, we do need to fix this, but also learn about it. I think everyone should try to learn about what the problems are and how to fix them.

It's a real eye-opener, and it will make you re-think ever drinking from a plastic water bottle again. If your goal is to never use plastic again, that isn't one reachable in your lifetime. Look around you. What do you see?

Perhaps so, but from this video, this lady can fit all the trash she's produced in 4 years in a single jar. If the rest of the world attempted to reduce their trash production, it would be so much greater

It truly is awful. People don't realize how much of a problem this is, it's a horrific and depressing sight. The Citarum River, which used to be one of the most beautiful rivers in the world, it has become polluted, destroyed, and infected. This is the areas main water supply in Java, (I'm not totally sure if it's in Java) they don't have good trash collection crews, so they are forced to drink, bathe, and sometimes eat their own trash. Protect the environment, it's the most precious thing we all have. Not cellphones, tablets, computers, or cars. The Earth is the most valuable and beautiful thing to us all, and we can't ruin it.

anyway, i personally have done many things you listed above, considering this is the only planet we have for now, so we might as well keep it hecking clean.
