I'm pretty sure this picture wasn't taken for that; it was the dress a woman was taking a picture of to a send to the bride of the wedding she was attending. The reason it went viral was because two people on the receiving end of the phone who got the picture couldn't decide on which colours the dress were.

I know. The woman sent the picture on her twitter I believe because she was having an argument with somebody over her dress: black and blue or white and gold.
