Ever since the release of the "Listeners Group" Several positivity based groups have spread far and wide across the forums, while many continue to be made. This had given me an idea, to implement some sort of actual groups into the forums, so as to prevent the following things from happening:

• Forums being spammed with 'Group Threads' aka the creation of new groups.
• People having to 'bump' their threads so it doesn't lock.
• People being able to add/remove members without having to delete the old thread and make a new one (If the thread is locked.)

By adding a Groups section, we could also be bringing the community together much more then ever before!

Some of the basic ideas:
• A "Group" tab next to the other tabs (I.e. Members, Forums, Apply.) This would include a group name, short description, who owns the group, and how many members are currently in it.
• The ability for groups to be set to 'open' or 'closed' (Closed would be invite only, This could be useful for ones that require an application)
• An area on a Member's page stating what groups they are in/own.
• A "Group" Messaging area, in order to fix the hassle of creating a message group and having to go in and add or remove people every time someone joins/leaves.
• When invited to a party, there is a prompt (I.e. Name has invited you to Group Name followed by Accept/Deny Options.)
• Members only being able to own one group, however being able to join multiple.

There could be even more ideas, but for now this is the basis. If you would like to add any thoughts, questions, or concerns feel free to comment!

I support this idea but maybe, people can only make 1 group? They can be in loads but only own 1? But anyway.

+1

I was actually thinking this as well, but didn't add it for some reason :)

Also, they're should be a rule, that each group made must be different to others.

Because *not saying who btw* i have seen someone make a group thats pretty much identical to another one.

This is an amazing idea! Also, maybe instead of adding someone and them automatically joining, it sends a request.

Ex: "gigosaurus has invited you to join the group Party People"

followed by a prompt that says "accept / deny"

Definitly an amazing idea.

Edited: Added two more 'basic ideas'

I'm just trying to imagine where this would go on the site lmao, but other than that I really like the idea! +1

This is the second time I've come -- I love the idea. Would a live group chat rooms be a possibility? In the Listeners Group chat, I've found it can be hard to have real "conversations," especially when someone needs support from the others in the group.

also guys they don't actually count +1s. use the "should implement" check c:

I disagree. PartyZone already has group chat-related features like Teamspeak, Discord (I think), and stuff like that. Heck, they even have Karaoke Night.

I don't think most chat rooms are 13+. That seems like a massively anecdotal argument to me. Besides, we can already report players in the server/forums -- there's no reason why we wouldn't be able to do that in a group chat on the forums. I've seen several groups that have at least one staff member involved -- that easily makes the group chat safe for kids.

I also think you're forgetting the fact that PartyZone is in Minecraft, a game in which servers involve live chat rooms. The Murder lobby you're in, the server hub, the downgrade game.. even a creative roleplay counts as a chat room. It doesn't have to be something outside of a video game for it to be a chat room. We have filters and staff monitoring the chat rooms in the server, so (as I said above) clearly, not all chat rooms are 13+.

Sorry. Went on a tangent there. The tl;dr version is that saying most chat rooms are 13+ is highly anecdotal, and many groups involve staff members.

Ideas got my support so +1 should implement you know.
I do believe the server has a broad age range to be honest, ranging from young adults in their 20's to kids aged 8-9. Even has a big teen 13-18 range group. Minecraft is a game for any age and so should the server, and I think it is catering for them. Anyway I don't believe PZ has an overpowering group. But that's something completely off topic and probably a story for another day.

Well great idea (thumbs up emoji)

There are many social networks designed with the support for a groups feature but unfortunately forums aren't one of them. This would require making a custom addon to the forums software which none of us have the knowledge to do. We could learn how of course, but server content is taking the highest priority until the foreseable future.

Impossible, for now.
