The previous thread has been declared "dead" and can no longer be used other than as a reference (https://mcpz.net/threads/factions.48983/). Either I am only online when very few others decided to hop on, or the server is seriously losing players. I think incorporating factions into the mix would most certainly bring more users to the server, which is good for users and staff alike; the more the merrier. I know the big deterrents include: coding, building, cancerous players, and a sister network having factions. I am personally a HUGE fan of factions. To be perfectly honest, MCPZ is the only server I use. It is the only one I don't find simply cancerous. Staff and community alike are fair superior to any other server I have seen. I think adding factions could result in the best factions server in terms of community given that factions is known to be a less than friendly experience. The foundation for success is already laid in the nature of the server. The only action left to do is to build, which should not be a big problem for such talented individuals.

Way better servers such as Skycade gives popular faction game modes, PZ a trying to be unique has killed the server basically.

I more or less agree with this. I think PartyZone was trying too hard to stand out from the other servers, and that meant it didn't host some of the more common/popular minigames, which dissuaded players from joining. Most servers do host factions, yes, so I think this would work. However, this may look a little weird because we would have Elite Survival and Factions as two seperate games, so I'm thinking we can turn Elite Survival into Factions.

And I don't think this would apply just to Factions. If we hosted more popular minigames (SkyWars, BedWars, etc) and add a bit of a twist (so PartyZone maintains its glorious unique-ness) it could potentially bring more players to the server.

If we do have factions, we should have it definitely in an unique way.
Not sure if this would be good but maybe we could mix factions with prison?

• It's general factions but you have mine warps which have basic materials and a great way to earn money, as the warps can be overpowered for recources, we can make it so when we try to leave the warp it automatically sells all things you've collected. Pvp mines and donor mines.

To add another twist, you can only start a faction or join one once you're free (Z warp). So you'll have to work your way out to make it fun.

These all are just ideas, I'd like to hear feedback on it and I agree that this should replace elite survival.
+1 until a stronger opinion arises.

From what I can see, the pros and cons are:
Pros:
  • More Players
  • A Wider Place Base (As in different types of players/different communities)
  • Fun
Cons (and how to solve them):
  • Hackers
Staff Members exist. Helpers, Moderators and Sr. Moderators are here to, well, moderate. Yes, more staff would be needed, but with a bigger place base, it's easier to get that.
  • Toxicity
Same as above.

Only thing is, Neme (PZ's sister server which bases itself around PvP).
+1

I completely agree, I know one of the major concerns is toxic players but like I mentioned on my thread, this can easily be tackled by harsh moderation. I think factions would help to make the server a bit bigger again, and a lot of people really enjoy it (myself included)

I don't know if you saw my thread of factions (linked in this) but I suggested a couple of ways to make it more unique? But your idea is pretty cool

I can agree that PZ needs some of the basic gamemodes, (Skyways, Factions, ect), but PZ, like he stated, tries to be unique in its gamemodes. While this is both good and bad, it has taken some of the fun away. While I would like to see a Factions game mode, I doubt we'll see it. -1 <3

PZ can take the typical gamemodes and make them unique though. I think by now, a lot of the more unique gamemodes just aren't going down well (besides murder) and so having a gamemode like factions that everyone loves, but adding little twists and new themes etc, will keep it unique but so everyone enjoys it

Uniqueness doesn't have to be an entirely new way to play factions or anything crazy. Don't need special commands that have to be hand crafted and what not. Nice and easy plugins, like MCMMO, are always an option. As mentioned before, combining Prison and Factions, would be an interesting twist. This way, people could even be arrested, rather than only being banned, starting back at the Prison. This alone would discourage breaking rules due to the high risk of starting completely over in the game. The level (or frequency) of the rule being broken determines how far back into the Prison system one is sent. Example: Swearing could result in being sent back to Z mine (typically the final one), but repeat offenders can go back further to Y or X.

I think changing the server rules for factions isn't the best idea, something like swearing is against the rules and shouldn't just result in starting again. However I do think the factions x prison mix could be quite cool.

What I meant by uniqueness isn't necessarily having hand crafted plugins, but changing some that already exist. I believe there are existing plugins for things like crates (crates were mentioned on my factions post) but changing a few lines of the code to make it more party themed. Same can be done with kits, events etc.

I didn't mean to say anything about changing the rules. I only meant adding in game consequences for breaking them. As for the crates and what not, that sounds pretty solid.

What I meant by changing rules is changing punishments. It's a server wide rule that if you swear, you get warned/muted. I think although I get what you're saying, changing punishments for one specific gamemode is a bit more confusing. If it's a faction x prison mix, you're still going to be in a faction, so if you're faction is really good anyway, you're not really starting again. If you reset the whole faction, it makes in unfair on every member. I think possibly doing something similar to your suggestion as well as the normal punishment may be useful though
