Okay so, in the old murder game in the map clue there was a switch. That switch would toggle the lights on and off. At the time, only E+'s and staff could use it. I was playing v2 yesterday and I was the only E+. The lights kept flickering on and off. I hopped on my alt (which is default rank) and tested the lights. Sure enough, I could use the light switch. Not going to lie, it reminded me of the SpongeBob episode "Graveyard Shift" where somebody is flickering the lights. Silly Nosferatu!

Anyway, I think they should revert this back to the old only E+ thing. Here's why:
-You can spam the lights which can cause lag for some players. Even one person crashed because somebody was flickering the lights too fast.
-It adds another perk to E+ which I think is really cool. Whenever I was a default and I played murder I wanted E+ for the sole purpose to just turn the lights off.
-I know some people on Pz only play for the sole purpose of murder. If they want to use the lever badly they might purchase E+. (I still think it's highly unlikely, but I would've if I had the money)
-It'd reduce the lag especially if you add a time limit. Like you flick it and you have to wait 20 seconds to use it again.

Now for some problems I could think of:
-People who are Elite and under who could flick the lever might be upset.

Sorry for any spelling/grammatical errors :)

I genuinely agree, one of the reasons I went till e+ was for that perk, it's not fun when everyone has it too. +1

And the lag you get when people spam it! I get around 400-500 fps and it makes me drop to 80. It's still high considering most people average 25.

I don't really get the lag, idk if I have better settings for stable frames instead of high fps settings but yea.
...
Anyways as I'm the unpopular opinion here this is well my opinion. I feel as though this gives a unfair advantage to the elite+ user which is why I believe this is against EULA, but I am not certain as it was implemented and kinda shocked me. I would suggest a cooldown instead. Either per person that constantly raises up the timer or per flick.

Before there was a way to win with said lever and no other elite+ in game and I believe this has been changed. Still the lever provides a way to freeze the user as well stop them from going places that they normally can go, aka the hidden redstone areas.

Perhaps it can be VIP and above can use the lever. Most people on Partyzone have a rank. It would encourage defaults to at least get the cheapest rank.

You can literally go on murder and spam the lever and soon people will be saying "STOPPP" a cool down is a much needed thing for the lever.

And half of the people like me have gamma, if you don't have it you should get it, it'll help and you won't find the need to complain about this.

It's barely an advantage. They paid for it, so why take it away? All it does it turn the lights off, it's not like it makes them invisible or something.
A advantage non the less as you so say, and therefor trouble for the server.

Same as above, although there is more to it than just that. There is also red-stone mechanics that do affect the game, when the lights are turned off. Correct me if I am wrong but isn't this against EULA?

Uh. No, it's not. A level that turns the lights on and off isn't pay to win, it's a cosmetic. You can easily just install any mod, i.e optifine, to have a "permanent night-vision" type of thing.

EDIT: If you think a light switch is pay-to-win, does that mean world edit is too?

World edit is a completely different topic. Anyways as of reading up on the EULA. I am still uncertain as it is a pretty gray area. Although I would assume Noble or Gigo in the past has told Mojang about both or just the light switch and therefor giving them the ok for it.

Now it appears the suggestion was already planned to happen or it therefor will. So no use arguing over it.
...
After thinking about it for awhile, I just realised it affects the whole entire map and all players. I'm pretty sure this would make it ok for EULA. Although its still unclear as I have never seen a ingame cosmetic that affects the game.

I've mentioned this to the devs and we'll be looking to bring it back shortly. As for the EULA side, as I mentioned in another post, we're currently in direct contact and ongoing communication with Mojang about changing the EULA to be friendlier to servers across the board. No idea when we'll be seeing these changes come into effect since we're still in the discussion phase right now, but small features like this will likely not be an issue since they provide no advantage to the players that can do it over the players that can't.

To add onto this I'm redoing the wiring currently & adding in some redstone that only allows for it to be changed every 20 seconds (so even if you change it during that cool down, it won't update until the 20s is over)

Also fixing the lag by lighting up the redstone wiring (literally most fps lag from redstone wiring can be fixed by placing glowstone all around the wires) as well as simplifying it significantly
