Post Merging would be a great change. This addon merges double, triple, or however many posts that are from the same user. This would decrease post-spam, and decrease the amounts received by a small amount.

This will help players not break rules as it combines it with their old post, so that rule wouldn't even be needed anymore. I do understand that they should not be double or triple posting in the first place, but this can tidy things up if they end up doing so. Some people do it by mistake, they should watch what they do, but everyone makes mistakes.
I understand that the staff members are here to enforce the rules and I know this seems like a minor thing, but the staff will have less to worry about if this is implemented.

Depending on how much money this costs, this could be great :)

Merging posts is a default feature of XenForo, meaning we already have it and don't need to pay for it.

I haven't seen that happen before; I've always had to go back and change it if I accidentally double-posted.

You do not have sufficient permission to merge posts, it is considered a moderation feature.

I know. I think what the user is suggesting is to make it automatic so moderators won't have to do it for them.

On top of that, it's one less reason to punish people. I think both mods and players can agree that warns are not fun to receive, nor to give.

Especially when they're false or for dumb reasons. I once got warned for double posting when the person who posted between my two messages deleted their own and so it only looked like I had double posted. If this feature was automatic, things like that would be avoided.

I agree with you. I have gotten warned and even banned before for double posting and I didn't see the 2 double posts together. Some people do delete their messages as Emviar said so than that would stop people getting warned for the other person deleting their message. I'll give it a +1 <3

Especially when it's over something so ridiculously small.

lol ik, I had to tell them to check again and they were like "oh yeah as a staff member I can see that" and I'm just like well why didn't you do your heccing job and check before warning

Because it is hard to identify special cases from every other case, but I see your point. Research should have been done before hand.

Just a reminder to stay on topic and to be respectful and nice about everything.
This is on topic because we are going into a deeper concept than just what he wants to introduce, we are examining punishments dealt out which could have been taken and not been required on both fronts, from the players perspective, and the staff members perspective. It is just declaring how many issues could have not been necessary if this simple feature were implemented. Thank you for the reminder though, :)

Agreed. We're going in-depth about the issue. I still think it's a good idea because it will save the staff team some time and I don't really see any negative effects of this feature being implemented.

Exactly, because other than the time it may take to activate this, even though it is already apparently a feature on the forums, it benefits both players and staff members, staff dont have to waste their time warning people over something stupid which can easily be avoided, and members dont have to worry about double posting, or just others who dont like them literally getting them in trouble just by deleting their message.

The topic is about a feature which automatically merges posts if you double post, not about how staff members wrongly punish players for it.

But talking about how staff members wrongly punished players for it is progressing this, because although I agree that staff should look into it more, who can blame staff. It is not their fault, because a quick look makes it seem as if its a double post, case closed. We are not directly attacking staff like yourself, we are trying to point out that this being added makes it easier on both staff and members, it has no negatives to it. Wouldn't you agree?

All we are doing is discussing areas where staff punished wrongly and they didn't even realize, and this entire issue could be resolved by just making it automatic, no?

Please do not take this matter personally and understand we are bringing these past incidents up as examples of what has happened, and how that could not happen again. Have a good day frend

I never said it had any negatives, I was simply just stating to stay on topic as there were some people who started going more into why staff are punishing wrong than what this thread is about, sorry if I didn’t make that very clear before.

If I had to give my opinion on this suggestion, personally it would make it easier for staff as if players don’t report it we have to search the forums to find the double posts, so yes this would make a staffs job easier.
