A new gametype called DodgeBall, 12 V 12, every player has a ball in their hotbar, that will be recovered 10 seconds after they throw the ball at the other team. the goal is to take out everyone in the opposing team, you have 5 lives, you lose one every time you are hit with a ball from the other team. you respawn after 30 seconds. there could be cool maps with level dipprences to make things more interesting!
 
This sounds like a fun idea! I only have one problem with it...

30 seconds is WAY too long to respawn. I'd tone it down to like 5.

Nonetheless, still a great idea! ;)

Very interesting plot for a game, though I’m a bit confused on how this would work.
• How long would the game be.
• How would this ‘ball’ work? Those don’t exactly exist, and you can’t throw heads like you can throw a snowball.
• Would there be kits/perks?
• Would there be a limit on the range the ‘ball’ could cover?

I’ll be staying neutral for now. Overall it doesn’t seem that bad. It just wouldn’t be something I’d be specifically interested in, especially since I’m not sure I understand how this works. Along with the fact, I’m not a fan of this specific game type, I do see others liking this.

I think this would actually come out better as a mini game instead of an official game, reading back over it. ( Though, that’s just my opinion )

Yeeeesss i love dodgeball! Id play the hell out of this :O

Except yeah, tone down the respawn to about 5-8 seconds?

Firstly, how do the swords get thrown in murder? Coding. I’m sure a similar concept could be used.

Secondly, range drop off. Relating back to murder, notice how the knife flies in an arc, possibly how the balls could work.

Fair enough, but I’m still not sure about it.
 
I’ve seen mechanics of a ball implemented before. In a much earlier version of Minecraft (1.7.10) I might add. Maybe instead of snowballs, something with a bit more custom physics could be plausible to work? (The ball would bounce off walls, the floor and what not, have actual physics, etc)

Here is my suggestion.

There are six or so balls on the field.
Balls are baby slimes with an incredibly high health boost effect.

You can pick up the ball by punching a slime. This will put the slime on your head.

You can then throw the ball by right clicking an item or punching, throwing the ball in the direction you want with a home-made physics engine.

If a player is hit before the ball hits something else, and the player doesn’t catch it (by punching it before it hits the floor) they are out.

Well, I mean I was thinking of the ball being a basketball skull and adding whatever coding they use for the knife. That’d be interesting.
Jedis suggestion is probably better.

Are you referring to like some slime block that can only be punched and can bounce?

The idea is a modified version of that where punching it allows you to "pick up" the ball. But no, I do not mean a slime block, I mean the smallest slime possible.

Ah, yes sorry I didn't mean to put block yes the one used on "other" servers for football?

I think this game will just turn out like other dead games like downgrade. 12 VS 12? Honestly, don't expect to get 24 players in a game, ill only expect to get about 4, the same is going to happen with every game update, every update no matter what, wont make the dead games alive, there isn't even a point trying

Or maybe you could just lower the player count from like 12 to 8? 6?

It's not just the amount of players. Its the fact how nobody is even going to play it, just like Downgrade

And you know that from basic speculation? It has 9 'Should Implement's, two 'likes' and one 'love'. The only 'Dont implement' is from you. A lot of players would play this, just like murder and downgrade are played. Some of the server's games are just less popular because of Creative. This game sounds genuinely fun to play.

Actually, if you think about it, that happens to every damn game, no matter what people react with. But whenever they add a game, people are gonna play it from the start and like a month later, dead already. Also, People don't even play downgrade, its just murder and creative

And dodgeball could end up as popular as creative or murder. No way to prove it otherwise, since people seem to like the idea thusfar
