A bit of time has passed since we posted our last Dev Log, and we've gotten through a few major hurdles in that time. Since the previous log, we took off of work for the Christmas holidays and returned to work the first week in January. From there, we've taken a step back from the major core systems to work on the surrounding systems which we'll get into below. All of these systems have been built from the ground up to work across all of our projects, including MCPZ.
  • Created a brand new cosmetics systems with the following features
    • Death Message Packs (messages that show when you die for various reasons, only relevant to servers which allow deaths)
    • Emotes
    • Join Message Packs (messages that you may select to show when you join)
    • Kill Message Packs (only relevant to servers that have a PvP area)
    • Symbols (a small symbol that shows before your rank in chat)
    • Tags (suffix that shows just after your name in the chat)
    • Name Colours (change the colour of your name, RGB included)
    • Nameplates (custom titles that show above your nameplate)
You may notice that a lot of these do already exist on the network -- the system in which they are now included is made completely separate from MCPZ's infrastructure, which makes them extremely easy to update without requiring a developer to change, and allows for quick deployment across the network.
  • Created a brand new dynamic announcement system
    • This will allow us to serve announcements that are relevant to you, much rather than the current system which serves the exact same messages to everyone
    • Gets you the most updated information much quicker
  • Created a brand new Drop Party system
    • Fancy your own self-building drop party on Survival or any other future survival-based server? This system will allow you to do just that
    • Allows us to create events around this system and create our own server-wide concert with custom music, effects, and much more
  • Moved the network to 1.16.5
A lot of what we're currently doing is high-level work that once put together, will create a seamless experience for you all. The goal with these systems is to provide a simple yet powerful experience across not just a single server, but every single server on the network. We're building these new systems to be used everywhere they should be able to be used (minus certain gamemodes which may require them to be disabled, such as Murder).

woo some stuff is happening! :)

aside, fr i'm excited for whats to come.
